Going to become a Founder Friday (Payday)

Very excited by this. A $100 sounds like a lot, until you realize how much you're getting in return and then it's a steal.

Glad to support another Stardock venture!

I was thinking about it while reading the FAQ and then I saw:

Q: What games are most similar to Ashes of the Singularity?

A: Ashes takes a lot of inspiration from Sins of a Solar Empire and Total Annihilation. However, the game mechanics for planetary conquest are influenced by Company of Heroes.

I was sold right then. As a company, I have always been impressed with Stardock. I have confidence in them that they, and their partners at Oxide, will make a great RTS.

Edit: Is anyone else showing the right hand side of the posts cut off? For me, the sentences that run long are partly cut off.

For example, in the quote above on the first line it ends with, "... game mechanics for planet" and then the next
line down it says, "influenced by ..."

Is there some setting I've screwed up somewhere that increased the size of the text? I've tried it on a
normal 1920x1200 screen and 2560x1080 screen.

(added in extra returns to not have long sentences)

Yep, thanks for noticing. We'll take care of it. :)

If you have to wait until payday to pay for a game, maybe you should use that money for something else. Food,  rent, utilities, retirement savings, etc.

Yea, it's none of my business, but I hate seeing people spend money on luxuries they really can't afford.

Just because you have the money in hand to pay for something, doesn't necessarily mean you can afford it...

Rant over.

I'm thinking about putting my $100 after looking for some time at the direction that development will take. Anyone knows for how long Founder's Lifetime Edition will be available?

i budget for each two week period to increase my savings and plan for retirement. I could buy ten founders copies right now and not feel affected. I just choose to make allotments for stuff like this each pay oeriod.

But yeah, thanks for the unsolicited advice.

Since SC 3 went belly up, I've been waiting on a good replacement

I've been waiting since SC2 sucked balls.

I meant no offense. I just deal with a lot of people who can't see the connection between buying whatever they want and not having enough to pay for necessities. It's a blind spot I with people find frustrating, and I was venting.

I'm sorry if I offended you.

It's okay, Borg. No real offense taken. I just wanted you to know there are other reasons people might wait. As you can see, I still haven't done it. I bought a laptop I've been eyeing instead as I do most of my gaming away from home. Plus, the gameplay looks pretty, but I'm not sure that's enough to sell me on a $100 investment.

Ditto. SC2 was a disaster,  totally not in the TA and SC tradition that I have loved so much.

What's a lifetime founder. As far as becoming a founder for this game i want to see if it is anygood first by buying a game. Can someone create a link  for demos of different stradegy games.

I'm considering getting in on this founders edition myself. After becoming a founder with GC3 I actually enjoyed being a tester and helping shape the game. I have all the SC games and enjoyed playing all of them. I loved Total Annihilation!
