Since yesterday....

Can't quote in forums, and I am being subscribed to any thread I reply to.

Not to sound like an ingrate but why all the hoopla over a little checkbox? It takes but a second to untick it.

Uvah, because it's a pain in the ass, and regardless of what some others may see, it hasn't been like that for a long while.

We pay a subscription to be on this site, we shouldn't have to deal with being automatically subscribed to a bunch of threads just because we replied to it.

If one spends a lot of time replying, helping, etc. in the forums, it quickly becomes a pain to have to remember to uncheck a box that SHOULD be unchecked by default.

In options, there is a box which, when unchecked, SHOULD take care of this problem, but it isn't working.

It is there for a reason, let's see if we can make it work as it should.

Some things do tend to get ignored at this site, like the non working emotes, for example. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.....if it is broke, then fix it.

I see...I see said the blind man. Checked my account options, unchecked auto-subscribe, clicked save changes and it didn't save the change. Check mark to subscribe to post is still there.

Same here.  :S

Mine is unchecked, but I still get subscribed, unless I uncheck the subscribe box at the bottom of every thread I reply to, or the one with the orange star at the top of each page. They're checked by default if I just show up and look. But it only subscribes me if I reply.

Still not fixed.........this really does suck.

I guess one could just ignore/not use the subscribe function at all. Would the resulting build up cause any problems?

This must be one of those fabulous changes in store for WC in 2014 we read about. Hint; an option you have absolutely no real control over ain't much of an option....... ;P

Nah, storing and transferring all that unwanted and unneeded data couldn't possibly cause anything like that server implosion last week.

I have never seen a need to subscribe to a thread or be emailed about its content.

I also find the FORCED to subscribe for each thread/reply to be VERY irritating,
and it has only been a couple of weeks since I noticed the HORRIBLE behavior happening,
also I checked my account option forsubscriptions (that I had originally turn OFF was back to ON).

WTF is going on.

I usually just use the replied to threads menu and have NOT EVER wanted OR used subscribed to threads.

Have any of you sent a support ticket in about the issue at hand? I'll pass it along that it's not working as intended.

Also, the forums are free to use.

Everyone has just imagined that it hasn't always been this way.

It's not a site issue, it's done by design.

We got that in a past reply, but opinion is, it's a BAD design. And if it is by design, how do you explain the option to turn it off not working? Is that failed option also by design?

That option, unchecked, SHOULD fix the irritation, but as you can see, it isn't working.

It's not a site issue, it's done by design.

The fact that it isn't working as designed makes it a site issue.

I don't mean to be argumentative, but facts are facts.  ;)

The forums are free to use, but enhanced for those who pay for a subscription.

Really? that is some 'design' you got there.  >:(

.02 - the site automatically checking the "Subscribe to this post" checkbox as soon as you start to type a reply, whether intentional or not, is BAD design.  We already have a "My Replies" list we can follow.  It should be unchecked until the user chooses to voluntarily check it.

But I don't work for Stardock.

Support says they are looking into MY issue with this, as if it's only me...lol.

I hope they straighten this out, if only for me.

What is the point you're attempting to make here?

gmc2 - That was in reply to the statement made that redneckdude pays to subscribe to WinCustomize, while true, the forums are free for anyone to use. Please don't read into this more than, the forums are free. :)

what about the OTHER people that are inconvienienced by the HORRIBLE change( if it is not fixed I might decide that this forum system is too irritating to continue with and simply leave and no longer try to help people in the sins forum along with abandoning my sins utilities

Please don't read into this more than, the forums are free.

There is no special treatment from support in this forum or any of the other Stardock forums.

The issue will be resolved for all users.

Making threats and acting like 5 year olds does not solve anything.

Harpo, it was a joke.  The Gear was being sarcastic.  Hankers is correct.
