Can we get a poll on website for Tactical combat.

I for one do not want Tactical combat in the game.

With that said, is there a way to create a poll on our website where registered users can vote (once) and we can see what the results are?

I suspect that we have a really vocal minority for it, but I have been wrong many times before.

So this thread is a request for a poll where we can get some preliminary numbers on who actually wants it.

Vote: yes for TC in Game, or No for NO TC in Game.

NO

NO

NO

NO.......

What's the point? Frogboy has already said, that GalCiv isn't the place for TC. That should have been the end of the discussion. Okay, I know it's not the end. This discussion has been going since long before I joined up. However, you'd think those TC-fanatics would eventually get the hint. :annoyed: Heck, I like TC too, but I still don't want it in GalCiv. So...

I vote No!

A poll is pointless. It's not going to be in GalCiv3 no matter if everyone on teh forums says "yes"

We are way too late in the dev cycle to be throwing in what would be a core feature of the game. TC has VAST implications as to how you design the game at large. Research, ship design, race balance, etc.

ANy idea you could simply just 'tack it on' at this point in development because of some magical poll is foolish.

Gc3 needs to be the best 4x game it can be. If they invested 6 months in TC development, that's 6 months less on 4x And you have a half baked TC system. A big no from me.

Yes I know what the answer is, and I have read the official response. I am 100% behind the decision to keep TC OUT OF GAL CIV III. Furthermore I really wish the entire 'Well I see TC is once again out' threads leave but alas they wont.

Anyway thanks for posting. I wrote this thinking there would be a way to make a simple poll.

I doubt it in these forums

Hmmm, I've seen alot of passing would be players want it and observed the same thing on other sites, theres alot of people but I don't think there are enough/any here now.

I wanted to do this to at beta or at release or on steam, thanks Larsenex but the timing is off.

No to the poll. The developers said no and so they mean no. If you notice most of the ideas that are floated out are considered or hymn-hawed but any they are certain they don't want is a flat out no. TC is one of those. No is No!

NO. There's a time and place for everything, but I don't think it adds anything to this game.

Again with the polls!

I vote NO on polls!

But if I didn't, I'd vote NO on tactical combat.

I vote for INTERESTING combat. Not the snoozefest cinematic of GalCiv2 but it doesn't have to be Sins of a Solar Empire either.

I want to have some kind of input into how my forces fight and have that input create tangible results either good or bad depending on my choices.

Someone created a poll and posted it on the Steam forums.

Really honestly, I didn't even expect it to be like that. I guess to outsiders and would be players it's not a issue?

I voted for id prefer it.

I'd actually prefer some less tactical combat.

I liked the combat in MoO1 better than MoO2. In MoO2 you mostly just used the best space/damage weapons and rarely had to adjust anything significantly to account for the enemies designs. Largely because bigger ships were always better, and somewhat related, your base defense, of armour and shields were always defaulted to the best with little reason to go down. In MoO1 small ships were viable, which meant shields varied, as well and engine speed which meant range was more of a factor. And the smaller ships meant big expensive weapons might be overkill and thus not a good choice.

GC2 was closer to MoO1 by having defense vs. offense on your ships be a consideration. Although it did seem that bigger ships were still better the limit on fleet size did require the use of smaller ships. Now that range, speed and accuracy are a factor that will give more to design for. I didn't mind that the AI does all the fighting as long and it behaves in a predictable manor so I can design for that. I had a calculator out when designing to see what the target priority of my ships would be.

I'll probably get in on the beta when combat is in. Has there been anything said about how combat works in GC3? I haven't seen any but I haven't kept a close eye on developments so far.

The devs talked about it a little in this dev stream.

Awesome. Actually I only did this thread to put this topic to rest. The current 3rd party poll seems to verify what I thought.

Currently most people do not want it in game..

Lol, most? The poll changes so I'll use some rounded variables. (and it may help if someone showed me were on steam it was originally posted. Please.)

40% do not prefer

30% would prefer

10% don't care

15 would not buy the game with out it

5% would not but the game with it

Also it seems that most for it don't own the game as I've never observed this many people on the forums for it. But why would they stay to buy it given the response they get? Lost new players they are.

without the ten percent that doesn't care its tied at 45% to 45%. Also people that wouldn't buy it are out numbered 3-1 in the opposite category. -$ -:)

in fact the only reason this poll started off in favor of TC was because the regulars of this community didn't generally know about it, thus outsiders* caused the vote to show TC as a majority.

Anywho I don't know of many businesses that can ignore 45% of there clients especially when yoy can choose to use it or not like every other game.

You've been told by Brad of all people and if you crave TC that much SD also developed Sins so go play that instead!

I don't support TC. That said, "it wasn't in GC1 or GC2" is probably absolutely the worst reason to not have something in GC3.
