Two more ships I made some time ago but never got around to posting. I was playing a bit of Dragon Age and got inspired to make these

Both styles are very cool and original - think I slightly prefer the first set of 3

Hi guys. I've just arrive and I must say i saw some really amazing ships here.

I would like to show my creations but got a question first about the forum: did I need to made a certain number of posts before I can insert link in my replies?

No answer? Don't worry, no problem. Then let's start with the showcase of my units!

First a pair of tiny ships, the first is a test for a fighter (doesn't have a name yet, but I think "Hummingbird" is nice)

The second is a test for a bomber

Second batch of units, although they're still work in progress (if you have suggestions you're welcome). This time I give you a small hull ship (a simple patrol ship)

Then a medium hull ship (a frigate)

To be honest, I find easier to build ships bigger than tiny hull, maybe 'cause I never find pieces I see fit for that size.

After several days spent working with the Designer I finally start to produce good units. So I announce you I've started to work on my first complete shipset. It will take a while before finishing it, but I'll do my best and once i'll finish it I'll share it with you.

This first set (as you may expect) will be a variation on standard Terran set (with some pieces from the Builder Kit). As you can see in my first attempts, I like a simple style, without too much finery. Maybe you will consider it too plain and boring but I hope you'll like it.

The first set of ships I'm ready to show is the Tiny Hull:

first, we have the Kinetic fighter (it's a minor variation of the one I've already posted)

next is the Missile bomber

http://i65.tinypic.com/16k6vbn.jpg

now we have the Beam fighter (a bit unconventional compared to the previous ones, but I think it's nice)

http://it.tinypic.com/r/2q0vbyd/9

finally the Balance fighter (I think it's the best looking one)

Stay tuned for the next updates! :)

Second group of ships from my first complete shipset. This time I give you the Small Hull group plus a guest.

First, we have the Kinetic/Beam ship (I use it for both type), simple but functional

http://i66.tinypic.com/66ja05.jpg

This instead is the Missile unit

http://i68.tinypic.com/msmxcl.jpg

Finally, the Balance type (got only one turret, but it's dual cannon - plus have AA guns for point defense)

http://i68.tinypic.com/hu2hb8.jpg

And now, here's the guest, the Freighter (I know, it looks ugly, I got a good idea but it's hard to find the right parts to create it)

New batch of ships from my first original set. Before starting, one thing: I really would like to hear your opinion on my designs, even if it's just "Cool!" or (most probably) "They're ugly as hell!". It's hard to improve your design skill without any feedback on what you've done.

Ok, now let's go with the ships, this time it's Medium Hull.

First, the Survey ship

http://it.tinypic.com/r/63t05h/9

Then we have the Kinetic/Beam unit (a slightly polished version of my first design, I'm working on specific turrets for the 2 types)

http://it.tinypic.com/r/15o8abo/9

It's the turn for the Missile unit

http://it.tinypic.com/r/1hb96d/9

Now it the time for the Balance one (mmm, maybe the bow need some rework)

http://it.tinypic.com/r/29yfij8/9

And finally the Command ship (it uses the model from Balance, with cosmetic and weapon modifications)

Sorry for the lack of updates, got no time to tinker with GalCiv lately. For now I have only a couple update.

First, the Constructor ship (you can't see them, but there're clamps at the bottom to keep the construction materials in place - immagine them to open up to release them when the ship start building the starbase)

http://it.tinypic.com/r/24uypn6/9

Talking about starbases, here's the first look at them with the Level 0 (the ring rotates clockwise to create artificial gravity)

I'll try to work faster on the new ship, so stay tuned!

I'm back and this time I bring you the Large Hull section.

First, a little decision I made; instead of trying to create a whole new frame for each ship type, from now on for Balance, Beam and Kinetic I will create a common frame that will be modified in bow, bridge and engines for each type.

Now let's start with the showcase (just a warning, for some reason when I take a screenshot in Ship Designer the background is white instead of black, so maybe it will be too bright to watch), with the Kinetic type

http://it.tinypic.com/r/al2hyp/9

Second comes the Beam type

http://it.tinypic.com/r/2qdu6vp/9

Then we have the Balance (which lose the rear turret in favor of torpedo launchers installed in the bow)

http://it.tinypic.com/r/b67teh/9

Next is the Missile (they're hard to see, but there are vertical missile launchers in the deck)

http://it.tinypic.com/r/2wnw9ol/9

Last but not least, we have the Carrier

http://it.tinypic.com/r/5khw7o/9

Finally, it's time to welcome the Huge Hull class ships of my first set.

First ship is the Missile frame

http://it.tinypic.com/r/5x203s/9

Now we have the common frame, starting with the Beam one

http://it.tinypic.com/r/egsjde/9

Then the Kinetic one

http://it.tinypic.com/r/35k0ffl/9

And finally the Balance one

http://it.tinypic.com/r/juuv15/9

I also want to say that these are the last ships for my first set. After several projects and designs I found that, despite having good ideas for the remaining ships, it's quite difficult to make them nice looking using only the Terran pieces, so I decided to limit this first set only to the military units.

Now I'll be a bit busy polishing them a bit, so they'll be very nice when I'll share them with you. :)

You can now just paste your images into the forum.

Thanks for the tip, Frogboy :)

Ok, now that I release my first pack of ship designs (btw, I completely redesign Medium, Large and Huge hulls), I can start working on my second pack.

For this one I decided to use Drengin parts to obtain a more compact and bulky design. The Tiny hulls are  already completed, the Small one is still work in progress.

First Tiny is the Missile one

Next, there's the Kinetic

Now it's the turn for the Beam

And finally the Balance

The Small Hull tier for my second ship set is ready.

As I did for the previous pack, I decided to go for a modular design (which means I create a signle frame for the entire tier, then equip it with different type of weapons). Considering my decision to go for a compact design, for the Small set I took inspiration from the Corvette class from the game "Dreadnought".

For Balance, Beam and Kinetic types, this frame is equipped with 3 large caliber cannons, supported by 4 smaller turrets (the following is the Balance type, that shows kinetic large cannons and beam small turrets).

The Missile version, instead, drops the large cannons for 2 sets of torpedo launchers.

Feel free to comment the designs. :)

Time to add the Medium hulls of my second set.

Initially I add a good idea for the design of this tier, but while working I found it difficult to create properly, so I had to go back and start from scratch. This is the result.

This hull, in Beam and Kinetic versions, comes with 5 large caliber cannons, supported by 4 smaller turrets.

The Missile and Balance versions, instead, lose one of the large cannons and have a minor modification to add the torpedo launchers.

Right now I'm gathering some ideas for the Large hulls, but I think I need some time to develop them properly.

Sometimes I wonder if people like my design or not (considering the lack of comments)...

Well, let's go back to work. It's time for the Large hull showcase!

The basic frame doesn't seem particularly imposing

However, once you install the weaponry, things change drastically. The main armament for Balance, Beam and Kinetic is a trio of huge cannons installed in the bow and supported by several large turrets.

The Missile version switch the huge cannons for torpedo launchers and 16 large ballistic missiles (btw, do you think the look better with opened or closed shutters? or maybe a combination of both?).

Final step of my second set, here comes the Huge Hull tier.

First of all, the general frame.

The main weaponry for Balance, Beam and Kinetic types are 6 huge cannons ( 2 installed in the bow and 2 in each wing), supported by various type of turrets.

As it happened in the Large hull, the Missile version switch the huge cannons for ballistic missiles and torpedo launchers.

To be honest, I'm not completely satisfied with this set; I think that some designs need visual improvements, so I'll work a bit more on polishing the ship (maybe even redesign some of them) before releasing.
