Suggestions for 2014 WC Community Project

The last community skin we did was the Holiday Community Suite back in 2009.  I wouldn't mind doing another winter holiday suite, but that's for later in the year.

So lets start getting ideas for the next community suite.  Do we go for a season like Spring or Summer?  Another holiday?  A different type of theme?

Lets hear it and discuss it and get moving on the next one.

Yeah...photobucket is having fits. I can upload to my album but have to close the browser tab and reopen it in order to get the direct link. Works but its a real PITA!

Not lacking, more unimaginative.
Some skins/skinners do break the stride, but basically most skins are just "boxes" with varying color combos.

I admit that I am a massive oldschool skinosaur, and yes I miss the good old days where almost all skins submitted were different from the previous ones.
I've never understood peoples fascination with skins that looks just like what they already have, like those skins that mimic the default OS look.

Innovate. Don't imitate.

Finally I heard something I said not long ago and I could not agree more. I don't think anyone would suggest that a certain style is unimaginative but when a skinner continues to do the same style over and over again one would question if they are stuck in a box. All some of us would like to see is for you to try something different/Unique, experiment and broaden your style instead of just changing colors. I have a lot of respect for people like neone6, kitty, Karen, Cyndie, madcat and a few others that escape me because they were/are not afraid to be different. I know the usability argument will come into play but I am not suggesting to abandoned usable skins, just throw something crazy in the mix once in a while. 

I also agree that I would like to see something techy for the project or something very business like or sophisticated looking. Something that would make a laptop look important or expensive (poor choice of words) but you get the picture I hope.

Hey Dave, everyone, back online. Dave, previews @ link look good, you will notice mine differ now, I got bored with no internet and started messin around, sorry.

You and the group can decide which way to go, as far as layout and images, or I can make more, or you can.

 

Everything is looking good.

 

Now, everyone switch back to old wb, make new skins so Philly can do a suite.not really, settle down.

(On a serious note, that was pretty major surgery... that and the after effects of anaesthetic, which I believe stays in your system for up to 12 months, probably playing havoc with your enthusiasm chemicals...and meddling with your get-up-and-go...... you could dip your toe and see how the water is... or just jump on in and sink or swim...  :|   ..either way... I hope you're skinning bug reasserts itself sooner or later...  :\ )

Thanks DT, sydney, Jim and Ace!  Just working on something with colors that match and giving the idea of technical. Also have been thinking of a robot maybe. Well always thinking that is a good thing for sure! lol!

I had you down with a tentative question mark for a time when calling for skinners... but I realised you were away...

if you like you can do a different style of Rainy... with a brown transparent glassy look... like I pointed out before... Subsecret had two styles... frames and a trans one... think only the frame one is in the pipeline at the moment.... but possibly DT1 is doing that too..    or even another frame one with a different design?.. wanna give that a bash?...   :|      link..

maybe people can clarify in the Rainy department, just what they are doing at this stage...  

 

also... need some docks.. (always good to have a tabbed dock thrown in too)...Jim is down for a 'maybe' on those... but also has winstep and DX to do... he might appreciate you doing them..... Jim?...what ya say?...  anyway... always room for multiple docks too... a tray etc...
