Ever want your own race in the game(not custom)?

Have you ever wanted your own race with its own style?I wanted to see what ideas y'all had about if you could get an office race.I'd want odd race. They'd look sort'a like prehistoric raptors, except with wings. There hands would look like they had three fingers, but they,in fact, have five. The last two digits form the wings of this race, and the first three would each be tipped with a claw. There toes would also be like raptor's,with a deadly toe claw. They'd be a diplomatic, warrior race, with the special ability being there planets have more soldiers, since combat would be a way of life. They'd also be hard to turn with culture do to fierce loyalty, and while they are warriors they'd take diplomacy as a first path. They'd be a "good" race, and wouldn't stand with races like the Drengin and Yor.Y'all have any ideas?

Haha lol are you trying to bring back the Drath? This is a great post by the way.

but I would like to see a race that can't smell despite there large beaks, Or hear, or speak in a frequency any species can comprehend. they instead see the full light spectrum and see sounds see the smallest objects, and communicate via coded light. And with such unparalleled perception life seems like slow motion to the Braettian Republic*. They would have good vision and could see the tiniest quiver or sweat when someone lied in diplomacy. They communicate through light much like computers, although they are weak at research due to their indifference to any technology that they cant put on there body's, thinking there similarities to robotic brings as a rivalry, leaving them at odds with the Yor. Lucky there home system was near krynn space when the Dread lord war broke out. and enjoyed their religious beliefs as A symbol of organic uniqueness. With the korx polluting the krynn lifestyle the Braettian  civilization declared independence from the krynn Syndicate.

With hyperdrive anything is now possible for this patient race of a few systems as they have futilely built a sizeable armada over the year's to fight the yor. but anyone who read the data bank's knows...the Yor are planning something big. With the untimely death of there old Emperor, will the son of a tyrant Nitraeius Lecya* use the fleets to plunge his race into war. Or Build a Grand Stellar Empire the envy of the galaxy. It's up to you.

I know this race cant be in the campaign. But would be awesome for sand box mode!

description:

homeworld is very large and mountainous peaks higher than everst are common. and lake's splatter the planets surface below giving way to beautiful forested planes were the first city's were built.

neutral alignment, due to old Krynn beliefs.

Preferred victory, Ascension

they resemble birds but no feathers, and light gray skin by majority but teal and light red are common in the species, sloped skulls, reverse joint legs, 5 foot average height, the  ability to glide, and arms that look like flying squirrels, and SHARP NAILS!!!!

I would love a interesting civ like that. And I being a writer helps with the history.   if I had more time they could be(IMHO) even better. but I will keep editing this post to save space.

Forgot to mention the super ability.

Super Perception: max visibility.

Or.

Super Disruptor: due to natural electo-magnetic fields in there bodies technology works 'different' around them. When invaded, all enemy soldiering bonuses is removed.

there home world is highly magnetic and radioactive with high metal content in the soil. thus shaping there evolution. there magnetic manipulation allows them to briefly levitate. naturally heavy gravity colonization not a problem for these freaks since there body's compensate easily.

Not really. They are a"Good"race, and they look different then the Drath.I like your idea.I never would've thought of that.

They would have good visibility

Don't you mean "vision" as in being better able to see other things, instead of "visibility" as in being seen easier by others?

No as for there ships, they see further as ships have no sensor interface. They see all light so looking out at space they see the tintist object, with a simple headset they see as far as the game would allow since light is there language.

but what do you have in mind jack?

Sorry but I just LOVE my new avatar!!!

It's just a matter of clarity, word usage, and word meaning. "Vision" means ability to see, whereas "Visibility" is how easy it is to be seen.

so "Vision" means ability to see," ok know that.

"whereas "Visibility" is how easy it is to be seen." What are you talking about? they see good, what am I missing there not invisible? Explain?

*EDIT* ok just let me change the wording and it will be fine. if you see a error let me know. I was slow to pick up on it. But im curious what new race you want...maybe leprechauns that trade gold.

The difference between "vision" and "visibility" is commonly mistaken in English, perhaps the most commonly reversed two words among those whose first language is English. The shame of it is that switching these two words also is very prone to causing misunderstandings in English communication. (It sometimes helps if one can look at someone's "location" in their profile.)

And leprechauns that trade gold sounds like fun.

I never knew there was a difference.

Gaunathor do you have two profiles? You already know where I am.

what is up with you and these words, are you a grammar teacher?

English is the only language I am fluent in.

let's just talk about new game races. that is more fun than talking about my least favorite school subject growing up. Let's just talk about leprechauns, and am serious let's...just talk about...leprechaun races. Please.

and since your curious I'm in Baltimore watching burn notice on tv, how about you?

Oregon, heading out to a concert (the classical orchestra kind).

I feel sorry for you hopefully someone is making you go. Unless there are beautiful violin solos because they open up my soul.

 I would like that.

and I hear the leprechaun and braettian do to, witch is why they are allies.

Here's a switch for you. It was me dragging my wife to the concert. My musical ear and her -- as she says it -- tin ear.

The soloist was the harpist this time.

It was quite enjoyable.

I love the harp as much as I do the violin or piano. Lucky you (I see why you picked the leprechaun.) and your wife let's you play video games. Oregon women must be amazing to be with.

Not meaning to still anyone's thunder I like this post that is why I came out with species awhile back.
As far as picts I like the Aliens. Though a cyborg version of the Vesari from Sins of a solar empire would be cool. Maybe a shape shifter or a parasite controlled faction.
I would give them a high morale like the Krynn. With a super breeder, researcher or economists.
Now about the technology I would give them an even number of Galactic achievements, trade goods and super projects. They would start out with the central mine with an option to upgrade later. I would actually like to start out with research acadamies. I would want to start out with market centers. Of course with a normal economics and industry later. I would want to start out with morale that wouldn't be super expensive to build. I wouldn't mind having healing pools if I can easily research it. I like how the Krynn handled research I would like to also have research boosting super projects. I would not want to jump into research the way the Yor did. I would like to have civics instead of governments. I also wwould like for other people technology to rub off on me if I had a research treaty with them.
I will admit sometimes I confuse words especially the late night posting.

You really can't judge a book by its cover. She may be an Oregonian now, but she is a born and bred New Yorker (the city, not the state).

hrmm i picture a race of cybernetic augmented humanoids (AKA the borg)

they would start with a limited number of technologies but could upgrade each one infinitely( with diminishing returns) they could only get new techs by trading or stealing from someone else at which point they could upgrade those infinitely.

ex they might start with laser and could upgrade that to laser 20 with .001 % improvement over laser 19 but could never upgrade to phaser unless they stole, reverse engineered or traded with someone for it.

they would have a hive mind so loyalty and currency are foriegn concepts to them (kind of makes trading difficult and diplomacy as well).

DARCA sounds kind of like the hanar from Mass Effect

I ironically played all mass effects and read the codex(I'm always happy to speak to a fellow fan), but I just realize the similarity with the hanar when you told me. I hope they make it into the game because they have thumbs!!!
