The announcement of galactic civ 3, encourages me to start huge campaign on suicidal and see if I can finish before release of beta ^^. Time to re visit the past 
I know what you mean. Did 3 hours of streaming on twitch.tv as the Altarians on Immense. Difficulty was tough, and I still got nailed... Going to do it again, but currently practicing.
Done the same. Played GalCiv2 the whole weekend. My God this game is great. Hadn't played it in a good while and remembered the game as a masterpiece, but it's even better. This game seems almost like a work of God. 
Can't wait for some more Immense Galaxy, high difficulty play, later today. I started on Crippling since there is some time since I've played. I also have blind exploration and solar systems and planets set to occosional, all tech trading off, tech speed slow. Had a good challenge this weekend, I'd forgot that you shouldn't wait to long developing and building out your military.
No wonder I want GalCiv3 so badly, and MP will just be a game experience of my dreams. Hopefully even the most immense maps will be able to play in MP, at least maps were life support will be an issue.
hahaha. I booted up the game played for about 3 hours and got totally wiped ^^. Its been so long since my last play
