Torians
So I read through the databank and looked up the current events for my Torians. They are ... gulp ... meat for the drengin. That's pretty harsh. Ah well it will make turning Drengin ships into slag so much more enjoyable.

A happy ending for the Torians...
It will be interesting to have some of the previous major races be minor ones...
Lol I can only imagine. You pull up a view screen and a Drengin has cooked Torian with an Apple in it's mouth.
I was disappointed when they said that some races from Galciv2 wouldn't make it into Galciv3. For those of us who don't care much for the story (yeah, so kick me in the balls), I sort of hope that these old races could be modded back in. Not sure how this would work, unless there was an alien race editor in addition to a ship editor. In Fallen Enchantress, you can make your faction look like whatever you want - as long as they're humanoid (barring mods like Stormworld). But in Galactic Civilizations, races could look like boogers or dinner rolls with lips.
Anyway, maybe they'll have models of Torians and Arceans stashed in the game somewhere to be used as alternates - you know, for old times sake.
In GC2, the appearance of a race doesn't really matter. You see them only on the race selection screen (which is just an image) or in the diplomacy screen (I'm not sure, but I think they weren't animated there either). So, what really matters to add a race are its traits, tech treee and maybe ship design style.
Don't know for GC3 of course, but individuals (and their appearance) won't be very important either.
Shhhh quiet you. My Torian's were living breathing organisms. Now they are part of Drengin Chili.
Yeah, you could see them in the diplomacy screen and they were totally animated too. They'd even look all grouchy if they were pissed off at you. I guess that's what I was talking about. But you're right, other than the diplomacy screen, you don't really see them.
Not all of them. If you put them in a press and ferment them, they make a great ale too. My Drengin are excellent cooks.
I have no sympathy for the Torians. For a peace loving race they are always too expansionistic and warlike.
Word. I can't count the number if times I got the "We've thought about it and decided that it's time for you to go" message from them before anyone else - Drengin included.
I've seen them take over 75% of an immense galaxy with 8 other AI's and myself playing. I have no idea how they do it so quickly.
spaghetti and Torian balls, doesn't that sound good?
Oh how about Torian sticks and a luxurious red drink you got from the black market?
What about Torian nut bars for on the go?
That's a problem with their AI, and is only really noticeable on maps with lots of habitable planets. This is also the case with the Iconians, because they use the same AI. You can "fix" this by switching their AI personality to Generic.
However, there are still several bugs in the game, that prevent the AI from playing as good as it could. To fix those, I suggest you take a look at the fix mods in the Modding forum.
Torian Baby Back Ribs. MMMMMMM Hickory smoked to perfection. Comes with your choice of 2 sides. (Sorry, no salads available.)

Bacon for both sides please.
Salad? Isn't that what food eats?
But from the synopsis of what I've read, the Torians go out of their way to attack the Drengin and the Arceans were bombarbed back to the stone age but weren't completely wiped out, they have however lost their infrastructure...
From the sound of it, I think the intention may be that they are going to use them as "minor" races but a great deal of focus won't be used on them as they are going to work other items or potentially other options...
Should be interesting.. just nice that maybe we won't have the thread of the doublin Torians destroying the galaxy from their capital of Dublin...
