The iPad Air has arrived

I'm typing this on my iPad Air.  So far, big thumbs up.

i had an iPad 3 which is what I used most morning s and evenings to post and respond here.  The air has two major improvements over the 3.  First, it's noticeably lighter which makes holding it much easier.  Second, they shrunk the sides of it which makes it easier to reach the keyboard.  I'm able to yep probably around 50 word per minute on the Air versus maybe 30 on the iPad 3.

if you have an older iPad, I recommend it. I actually chose this over the iPad mini retina and am pleased with that choice.

Mine was delivered yesterday. So far, I'd say it's a worthwhile investment. I can't say I'll phase out my Surface Pro but I do like the iPad Air. Each has its advantages, I guess. The Surface Pro is more to my liking, though.

Got my iPad air today, although the cover doesn't arrive until next week. So far, it's one hell of an upgrade from the iPad 2.

Sorry to Apple, but it still doesn't make me want a Mac.

So you, your kid, a friend, someone...........could accidentally sit on it and it wouldn't give up the ghost?     O:)

I ask because all current tablets/phones etc. devices currently owned by me can easily withstand such an 'accident'.......that is what I'm looking for.   If it can't be accidentally sat on and survive I'm not really interested.......

I suspect its tolerance for such a physical insult would depend on: 1) the size/weight of the 'sitter', 2) the velocity/moment of inertia and angle of attack of the 'sitting', and 3) the nature of the surface upon which the 'sitting' occurs.

I'm pretty sure anything can be broken. ;)

Of course, but since there are no youtube videos yet of people using their iPad Air's as hammers etc. I was attempting to get info from you as to just how 'NOT flimsy'......not flimsy is......hehe

Can't remember the name of the site, the one that tests them all in commercial blenders...

Luv ya, Monk, but I don't anticipate using mine as a 'test bed', at least not in that way. ;)

Seems highly resistant to twist and bend, however.  FWIW.

Like it a lot so far.  Browser pages load nearly instantly, as do most apps.  Waiting for a Logitech keyboard case (ordered), then it will be oso suhweet.

Now if it would just print.

my daughter is going to buy the new ipad mini when it's released and we'll trade. she really likes the ipad air and i think i'll be happy with the mini. she will have a surface 2 pro (or whatever it's called now) and the ipad air. hopefully, she'll be set for a couple years or so.
