Thank you, Stardock!  Finally!

I'm really excited to see what insanity you guys are able to come up with using 64bit only.

I could care less about CGI trailers and even less about multiplayer - but all around...YES!  I've been playing GC2 lately and had just lamented about lack of GC3 on the forums just the other day...

Best gaming news in a long, long time.

OMG!!! I can't believe it.  I was just wondering this summer when we would get either a new Gal Civ or Master of Orion.  When I saw that SD did not get the MOO franchise in the Atari bankruptcy auction and when SD did not mention developing Gal Civ in their 2012 customer report, I was resigned to more waiting.  But I am so happy now :)

GC3!!  This is a long time in coming, and a purchase I am very glad to have made.  I love this game and can sit hours hammering away at it with my own designed ships to boot.  This is my favorite PC game.  I have a few others that make up my "Top Five List", but GC2 ranked up in the top spot for years now.  Thank you SD for getting GC3 closer to release, and I am looking forward to trying it out soon.

Great news!  64 Bit - a bigger bit of good news!  I cannot afford an alpha, but a beta... way to go!

The best news I've heard in years! Now I have something to look forward to, the Xbone and the PS4 never made me this excited!

I normally don't preorder anymore.  But for this game from Stardock, I make an exception, even for 99$, the highest amount I ever spend on a game.

Why : because Stardock still care about their customers.  I was an early buyer of Elemental, and I really appreciate how they handled the follow up.  That's why I have confidence that Stardock will deliver a game up to par with our expectations, even when they need a few attempts as with Elemental.

And by the way : I appreciate that Europeans can pay 99$ to instead of the ripoff conversion of 1$ = 1€ most other companies adopt.

Don't mess this up SD.

Easy to say, harder to do ... but in the end, I don't think I'm alone in feeling of all the publishers out there, Stardock takes greater strides in making things right for its customers when one of its launches flops, like War of Magic.  I'm not sure if Brad ever mentioned how many of us early adopters and launch-day purchasers there were whom he had to, hat in hand, offer two free expansions to ... but that's a lot of Fallen Enchantress and Legendary Heroes copies he gave away for free (well .... technically not free, but the money we paid funded the flop, FE and LH had to be funded in other ways).

I just tested my system and confirmed it was a 64 bit version of Windows 7 with DirectX 11 compatibility. As a budget-conscious gamer, I normally don't pay more than $15 for my computer strategy games (through Steam sales), but I will gladly part with the $100 to support my favorite small game studio and gain early access to the newest iteration of this fantastic 4x strategy series.  I know the development process will involve major challenges, but I am confident in Stardock's ability to turn GalCiv III into an engrossing game that could consume hundreds of hours of my time as GalCiv II did. More than any software developer I am aware of, Stardock commits to improving its games with fixes, AI enhancements, and innovative content that improves player experience, using player-submitted feedback and data as a guide for these modifications.

I will end this post by expressing my appreciation to Stardock for choosing the Galactic Civilizations franchise as the focus of the gaming studio's next major creative endeavor. I enjoyed Sins of a Solar Empire greatly, but the Galactic Civilizations series has always been the most compelling Stardock offering for me.

Fantastic! I'm especially looking forward to the new ship designer.

Will GC3 have its own High Scores page on Metaverse, or get mixed in with the unfair GC2 high scores? (example: #7: more that 2,000,000 score for one game)

From the store page:

"Star names subject to Stardock approval; no vulgar or inappropriate names allowed.
Star name submission will be through www.galciv3.com at a later date."

Played Galactic Civ since the days of OS/2 (really, the ONLY reason to have had that OS as a college student) and have really enjoyed playing it over the years.  GCII is my number 1 or 2 single player game (other being Civ V).  I love that Stardock is going to try and push gaming ahead by going 64 bit and DX 10+.  That said, the only reason I shelled out cash for this pre-order is my faith in Stardock to deliver a quality product.  I would never do this with another developer, even for something like Star Citizen or Elite (both titles I am looking forward to).  All that said, I am really looking forward to a great game.  Thanks for working on a new GC Stardock.
