Purchased Galciv II from stardock back in the day, but cannot download from GameStop with the stardock CD Keys

My title says it all. Has anyone else had problems using their CD key with the Gamestop app? I am using the CD Key that I copy and pasted from my stardock account, but Gamestop app does not recognize it. I have tried emailing both stardock and gamestop. Gamestop says it is not their problem, and stardock has yet to reply to me yet. 

 

Any ideas?

I'm a bit confused. I've been playing GalCiv 2 since shortly after the release date. Shortly there after, I registered for updates, and I've pre-ordered the expansions for the game. I did not need to do anything special to ensure that my ability to download GalCiv 2 (or any other game) was preserved between the generations of download apps (Stardock Central, Impulse, GameStop App).

Are you sure you haven't properly checked your GameStop account? It should be a copy of your account at the time GameStop bought Impulse (same password and stuff).

How long have you been waiting for a reply from Stardock? When did you send the first email?

If you did this over the weekend, then you might not have got a reply from Stardock because there hasn't been any business days yet (Monday to Friday). Stardock is not a large company so they probably don't have 24 hour staff, GameStop on the other hand probably would.

You may need to wait a few more days (if you tried to contact Stardock over the weekend) or send Stardock another email.

*It should be noted that Stardock seems to do all their game business through Steam these days. It might be easier to get Steam keys for the game than to get something that works with GameStop.

If you bought the game from us prior to the sale of Impulse to GameStop, you should not need to reregister. You should already have an account with them under the same email address as you used here then, with the game already on it. If they have lost it somehow and cannot help recover it though, our support should be able to provide an alternative once they get to your ticket.

DivineWrath: You may have hit the nail on the head. When I DLed the Gamestop app, I tried to enter the same username/pw combination that I have with Stardock. However, that did not work (it said that account did not exist). So I created an account with Gamestop with the same username (or email address) as my stardock account. That might have been my blunder. 

 

I have changed my username/pw combo with stardock, and that my current combination is different than it was 5 years ago. So that might be why the Gamestop app did not recognize my current username.  I wonder if this means I have to guess at my previous username...

 

Kryo: Thank you for your response. I re-read my original post, and I hope that it did not come across as disrespectful. I appreciate stardock as a company, and they have always treated their customers well. As you suggested, I will try to remember...my previous account with Gamestop/impulse. I am not sure that I can---it's been around 4 years since I last interacted with the program.

I was able to remember my old username/pw combo for Gamestop, and I indeed found the games there! However, after I installed the first game, I received this message:

Please check the serial number that you have entered and ensure that it is associated with the email you used. Try to activate the product again. So I suppose I am in the same boat...

If you have changed the email your account is under over here since the Impulse sale that would do that--it will be trying to activate using the same email as the GS account, which would no longer be correct per our records. If that is the case you should be able to just go to the game folder and run SDActivate.exe manually, entering in the correct address, and it should go through. Otherwise, update your ticket with our support accordingly and they should be able to help.
