Why are there no elfs in the game?

I mean there are already men, orcs, demons/ghosts and stuff. Why are there no elfs? It sounds like such a basic feature for a fantasy game :)

They were all slaughtered during the second age.

Brad ate them!  They kept stealing his Keeblers...

On a more serious note, Elemental is based on a universe created by Brad Wardell (and others), which has it's own take r.e. which creatures inhabit this world.  Note that you won't find Shrills in any (other) established fantasy settings that I'm aware of.

I do believe that we have (had) Elves as a race introduced via mods, though.  The Legendary Heroes mod pool is just getting up to speed, so I would guess that you will be seeing more of the 'usual suspects' being introduced as the modders release them.

there are factions that can be stand-ins for elves.  wraiths for dark elves, tarth for wood elves, and pariden for high elves.  you don't normally see their ears so pretend they're elves (sometimes i do).

..because nobody trusts elves

There are no elves because Elves are not real. They are made up, pretend creatures, kinda like invisible friends, and Santa.

Just like Dragons and Titans? If you want to say you were talking about Elemental world and not RL, then I doubt there is Santa in Legendary Heroes.

(Magnar's people) Quendar are the blood elves of the game. Just not your prototypical elves.

Well, the closest is Tarth, just pretend they have pointy ears.

It's actually refreshing getting a base game without the standard tropes (Dwarves, Elves, Hobbits, etc..).  Unfortunately, with no Campaign play there's little reason to become invested in the existing factions.  I would guess that many just start making their own stuff and skip over the pre-made sovereigns.

That being said, I can't imagine not using the available Mods that have been put out by the players.  The High Fantasy Mod (Children of the Storm ) for LH is amazing.

I don't understand. Are you trying to say Dragons and Titans are made up too??

Do not even think about that. Obviously Ophidians, Titans and Dragons are real and part of this universe.

No, just having a little fun.  My attempt at humor apparently was very poorly presented.  Where is a 'knee' when you need it?

Because it was a toss-up between ninjas and elves, and the ninjas won.

Because it's pluralized as elves.  B)

There aren't any dwarves either, but no one's worried about that, nooooo....typical. ;)

But Umber rocks though

There are some great punch line responses here.  I can't top those.

I will add a more on topic response that I really appreciate that there is a vocabulary that separates Elemental from Dungeons and Dragons, Tolkien or many other typical references.  At first, it seemed kind of pointless and arbitrary, but it really grew on me and I now appreciate it.

At first I was thinking the Children of Storm mod has both elves as well as dwarves, but then I remembered the dwarves are actually referred to as "gnomes".  They still look and play far more like dwarves, and much of the xml literally still refers to them as dwarves.  Although I doubt anyone knows the answer to this other than Heavenfall.

And thank goodness this game doesn't fall into every single stereotypical cliche of every other fantasy video game.  :fuzzy:

the tarth, gilden and yithril are pretty close to your standard tolkien/D&D wood elves, dwarves and orcs. pariden might also be consideres high elves or something and resoln share some characteristics with dark elves/drows. they don't have the standard looks, but their traits aren't all that different from what you'd expect of high fantasy races.

How about changing the pictures so that some characters have pointy ears?

Make it an option when creating a sov.

The Gilden sound like they should be depicted as dwarves.

I always believed it was because "Elve are the single most overused element in fantasy now a days." Every fantasy game doesn't need elves and dwarves to be a fantasy game and that is one reason I truly enjoyed WOM, FE and LH when I finally get it XD.

Why do you want to bring Vulcans and Romulans to Elemental?
