One good thing I see with WB8 on 7.

The secondary start menus using DisplayFusion now paint correctly.   k6

I are so liking this new WB. The new UI is great. I made a copy of the skins folder thinking I'd have to re-install the skins but nope. Wasn't necessary. All my skins are there and intact. I find I'm playing with it more often than usual. Excellent job SD. 5* 5*

One important thing to consider when using Win7 skins is that the ones with semi-transparent areas that looks well, may not look as good in Win8 because there is no blur in Windows 8 (ATM) so skinners may want to update their skins with less transparency to compensate the lack of blur.   One easy alternative for non-skinners and skinners that want a fast solution, you can use the "Transparency" settings from WindowBlinds 8 (Colour > Transparency) to reduce skins transparency and then you can save this changes as a skin preset under the "Style" section (see screenshot).   Some new skins featuring new WB8 features will come put very soon, one of them is intended to be used as a base-template skin and will have some basic visuals and source files will be released too (.psd).

Skinners might want to consider the majority of people use w7 so better to not update a current skin but make a seperate w8 skin.

 Good Morning Everyone,

I installed WindowBlinds 7.90 beta this morning and so far it is working perfectly.  The new interface works well although I miss being able to change transparency.  :-)  I even tried the beta on some legacy blinds and it worked just fine.

I uninstalled the earlier version of WB before installing this one to avoid any conflicts but tt was kind of a shock to see my system running naked!  No WB??  I can't imagine it and don't want to.    8C

I know I will probably upgrade to Windows 8 when 8.1 is released but it will be hard as Windows 7 has been rock solid from day one.  I will most definitely be using Start 8 though as I find the new Windows inteface to be harder to navigate than it should be.  Sure seemed like a lot of work to do a simple restart and the people I serve are lost for the most part so I recommend Start 8 to everyone.

The Stardock team did a great job on WB 7.9.  So far it's working flawlessly (Windows 7, 64 bit).  Thanks for the great work!  It is greatly appreciated.

I did just notice one strange thing though.  The emoticons on this forum appear in a single line down the page.  To add the "grin" I had to scroll waaay down the page.  LOL

Thanks, Zubaz.  Not sure how I missed it earlier when I fiddling around with colors but I think maybe it is because transparency and fonts are in light gray.  Got it now though so thanks again.  The emoticons are now displaying correctly too.  :sun:

About a month ago I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 8 because i got a great deal at $15 (or so I thought) I was bummed that Windowblinds didn't work with it yet but accepted it. Yesterday I moved back to 7 looking forward ro re-installing Windowblinds but come to find out that because I let object desktop lapse I cannot re-install Windowblinds or Icon Packager even to the last versions I used without paying for Object Desktop . I was offered a discount. Still not happy.

No.  WindowBlinds 8 only supports Windows 7 and Windows 8.

I've reproduced this and have alerted the developer.

where the orignal textures are saved, ?

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds\Textures

The images are tga files and the .texture files can be opened in notepad to edit settings.
