Children of Storm

A high fantasy mod pack for Fallen Enchantress: Legendary heroes by Heavenfall, with help from EviliroN and jeffqyzt2. Players are advised to not play with the Rivermod on Huge maps, as the game may have issues with memory then. If you are having issues with world resources, such as iron ore, not appearing in your game - delete the Rivermod folder and start a new game. This only affects a small number of players for unknown reasons.

I might try just reinstalling it completely from scratch on steam when I get home in about 5 hours then adding CoS hope that solves it.

 

Are you using cheats to scan the whole map? There is the off chance that you are just very unlucky and aren't having any pop near you. If you aren't, enable cheats, do a couple ctrl-n to start new maps with same settings and then take a look at the entire maps immediately.

 

I know at least one map it is this way as I played the map out thinking exactly that, that there was none around me, but as of last turn I have 11 cities, 0 of which are connected to crystal or iron or aviary or the one that required a farm or anything but shards.

 

I have seen 1 clay pit on that map, and I did see 1 crystal crag but it was in Craglunds tomb and that was the only one. The AI has no units that use iron or crystal either that I saw and I started checking after noticing I still had none either.

I'd rather not, frankly I don't remember the dependencies any longer. The mod is very much in "maintenance only" mode.

The result should look like this (Numbers are only indicative, could be anything up to about 300):

If it's closer to b. than to a., try deleting \ChildrenOfStorm_Rivermod\ from the \Mods\ folder

Not sure it it's possible or how much work that would require, but could the Rivermod be split in 4?

(Maybe wait until 1.7 since they might fix the issue at that point, but just wondering)

 

Did this, worked fine the first time, got 168 resources... then 2nd and 3rd time it didn't work, got 0 resources placed out of over 200 requested.

I did notice something though in that all the ones that didn't work (including 2 old ones I had started games on) all of the maps had either curgens tomb, bhinadmi fissure, or burning lands. 


The one map I had that worked did not have either, but had other special areas (slag one, scrapyard, one with a bunch of chests in hills. 

 

However deleting rivermod did fix the problem. Where before I was lucky to get 1 in 5 to have resources I had 5 in a row with resources after deleting it.

I do know that in some of the ones that worked it did have the scrapyard so it's not all the wildlands with specific types even if that is an issue. The sample size was small (~7 ish) maps so it could be coincidence.

Thank you for your trial and error, I will take a closer look tomorrow. I am in fact modding terraintypes, so that's a good place to start.

I am not able to reproduce this. Do you have all the CoS folders installed when the issue appears? What random map settings are you using, and what faction are you playing?

I had all CoS folders installed, straight install into the mods folder only moving the tactical maps.

Settings:

Map: Random
World Size: Huge
Map Type: Random
Wildland Frequency: Balanced
Production Pace: Default
Quest Frequency: Balanced
World Difficulty: Normal
Monster Frequency: Moderate
Pacing: Normal
Magic Strength: Moderate
Resource Frequency: Moderate
Random Event Frequency: Default

 

Number of Opponents: 9
Empire vs Kingdom Balance: Even
Typical Intelligence of Opponents: Normal
Opponent Surrender Threshold: Normal


Only conquest victory type.

No customized opponents or sovereigns.

 

Happened with shadows/centaurs/frost giants

As I mentioned once I removed the rivermod folder, it worked fine, got 5 in a row with it working perfectly.

 

Also this was an old installation from steam, I had never used mods before, but never uninstalled it after first installing it when LE came out if that makes a difference.

 

Also I have none of the DLC packs.

Could you do me a favour? Now that you are getting the iron ore again, can you install the rivermod again? And see if the issue returns.

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the issue. Though once I got your mod working I did end up using a compilation of a couple of mods (this was after the issue, when the issue happened it was solely your mod), so I did a fresh reinstall (from the old .rar I downloaded, no new downloaded just new extraction) in an empty mods folder after making sure the compilation was completely uninstalled.

Also I did end up getting the first 3 DLC today after I fixed the issue (issue was happening last night after I spent the weekend playing a game as shadows thinking it was just my area... found out it wasn't and asked about it this morning, hence why using the compilation/dlc after fixing now that it was working again) so that could be effecting it as well.

If it happens again, I'll leave my stuff alone to test better, sorry about that.

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to say I'm loving this mod so far! Anyways I'm midway through my 2nd game and I still have no idea how to use forges. I also looked through the wiki and couldn't find any information. I'm playing as the living stone and already researched construction which was supposed to unlock the magma forge. How do I actually get one of these onto one of my city?

It seems metal and crystal resources are not spawning on the map anymore. A big bug I think.

I'm having a weird issue on my game: by some reason, whenever I enter in a battle with some units from specific factions(so far, only tested it with Dotra and the ice giant faction, but probably it also happens with the centaur one as the game might fudge the base of that unit), the game crashes.I've tried the shadow faction, and it worked alright, I can assume that it might only come from these factions.Any known way to fix it?

Traditionally Children of Storm contained a file to overwrite all goodiehuts. But for the life of me I can't remember a reason why. I'm going to remove it for 1.8a, but I don't really play the game so let me know if you run into any strange things surrounding the goodiehuts, in particular monster spawns and so. This wouldn't be a minor change like "maybe some goodiehut spawned a bit more", this would be "there's two of everything" or " I don't even get monsters in my game" bug.
