How well does GalCiv2 work in Windows 7 64bit?

I'm running both Windows XP and Windows 7 64bit. I currently have GalCiv2 - Twilight of the Arnor running on XP since it's an older game but I'm thinking of moving it over to 7, and making it Large Memory Address Aware. Is there going to be any issues doing this? Long ago I read that sometimes there's a problem with memory when there are a lot of ships on the map, so I figure this game would benefit by an extra gig of RAM. I don't want to waste my time on it though if it's going to end up becoming a headache trying to get it to run properly.

PS: Never mind, I just went ahead and installed it anyway. So far so good, it boots up at any rate even with the Large Memory Address Aware flag set.

I ran it from the start in Win7 64 bit without any problem.
Only thing is when I iconize it with the windows key, it doesn't always resume properly to full screen and have to relaunch it.

Well that's no big deal, I never minimize it anyway. Either I'm into a game or I'm not, I'll very rarely switch back and forth to Windows once I've started plating something. So did you also make the game Large Memory Address Aware as well?

Is that "Memory Address" a game option?
I can't find it anywhere.

The game seems to run smoothly as it is, so I didn't change any setting.

No, you need to either edit the .EXE yourself or use a program, like this, to do it. However, there is no point in doing this, if you don't play on Gigantic or Immense maps. Otherwise, it is hard to reach the 2GB limit.

I have Windows 7 and GalCiv 2 works fine for me.

Until now I've only played on Immense maps with standard settings with no problems;
I guess that if it gets really crowded I'll need to extend the 2GB limit.
Thanks for the link Gaunathor, useful little tool there.

On a side note, is the immense 22x22 the maximum GalCiv2 can have?
Or some mod allows for even bigger maps?

Edit:
it seems "Immense" is as big as it gets, still not sure about some mod though.

Well I only play on Immense maps so that is definitely an option for me. Just a word of warning for anyone thinking of using a memory address patch on Windows XP. That OS isn't well designed for extra memory usage for applications and doing so will most likely cause problems with the system. I'd only recommend it if you're running a 64bit OS in fact.
