Metacritics - User Score of 8 and going down ?

It´s not to piss on your door stardock, but it seems there is an outside world - outside of the beta testing and developer´s one - and it seems that the game is heading for 70´s user score on meta critics, which is not a good sign. Some of the not so favorable comments on the "M" side where part of the discussions in the beta (esp. early on).

Hope the professional critics are nicer to you.

meh its 4 reviews, kind of moot since at this point a single 1 or 10 will make it jump a bit. TBH I think people put WAYYY too much weight into aggregate scores but I guess some people actually rely on faulty info for purchases.. lol

As I predicted well before the game was released a 77 would be what was to be expected.

Just look at the support forums. Full of issues with LAUNCHING the game. That usually blows any high review scores out the window. When you read words like CRASH, COULDN'T LOAD, BLACK SCREEN etc etc others are reading them also and zooooooooom to the review sites to cut the game down. Go look at DIABLO III's user scores vs the professionals.....go on go look. :) Professional reviewers no longer hold the life of a game in their hands anymore since they started letting the USERS score that's what users are using for a reference. If a USER score is low I will rarely buy a game until it is BARGAIN BIN priced and even then remain skeptical because even $5 is too much to waste nowadays.

Typical ^ Fanboi response folks just move along they will always be diehards even when the ship is sinking they will say it won't. lol

User scores are just this side of totally useless on Metacritic. The problem is people tend to be drama queens. So reviews are usually great or terrible. You'll see a game that'll have almost nothing but 9-10 and 0-3 reviews from users. They either OMGLOVE or OMGHATE the game. Any actual moderate reviews get drown out.

Lol fanboi i am not. Logical I am. Its 4 reviews... 2 of which gave it a 10. I hold no vested interest if FE succeeds or fails.. i'm just willing to actually  use my brain and examine the facts rather than scream doom because 2 whole people gave it a mediocre score.. lol

Couldn't agree more, you always get people who give a game a 1 cause they didnt like the color of the master sword, and others who give it a 10 cause their cousins girlfriends uncle worked on the game.

Sigh, there are only a few votes...

Look at Gamespot, user score is at 9.0!

I predict metacritic score will be at around 8.6 eventually.

You obviosly don't know how user reviews work on Metacritic. You don't have to actually WRITE a review to give it a review score. Look UP a little bit and you'll see a lot more review scores vs actual reviews. Thus you fail and didn't have ACCURATE results when you posted your blarney. ;)

70 is a respectable score.  A lot of fans, especially those inclined to put their score in early, I feel inflate scores as most folk, in my experience, are too binary in "I liked it" or "I hated it" with little discipline to cast a score-vote somewhere in-between.

Really need to have more people reviewing it than 4.  So lets wait a week and then see what the user reviews say. I could care less about professional reviews they are as bad as the professional movie reviewers.

The user scores on metacritic are as useful as nipples on a breastplate

The Guinevere2 (6) and Cytonkinesis (8) reviews seem pretty reasonable. That being said, I am very satisfied with the game and the scores don't mean much to me.

Discussing 12 votes = idiotic.

Reply to FemmeFatale: So after I just posted gamespot's score (some 15 minutes ago), 3 other votes got in bringing a score of 9.0 (12 votes) down to 7.4 (15 votes).

I can only conclude that you just filled in very low scores from 3 mailadresses. You must be very sad and miserable.

Hmmm...

Can't get the metacritic site to work. Says there's a server error. I'll try back later.

Anyhow, user scores are sure to be hurt by the problems with downloading and installing the non-steam version. All we could do was post about it. The devs didn't take note and will probably take a hit to user reviews about installation. But the majority of new purchasers are going to be from steam. I expect there will be more positive user reviews from that source. But I am not foolish enough to make a conclusion one day into the game's release. That would be an irrelevant conclusion.

This post was not to start a flamewar or an unpleasant kind of discussion.

It was intended as a warning. A warning that the accumulated scores might be not that high in the 80ies.

For myself i tend to look at the userscores on this "useless" metacritics side, they often point to a specific problem that a game has.

In this case there where no "zero pts" votes but some written reviews that might be putting people at the "careful customer" side.

There are some games with a high disparity between user and critics score, none of them where really good.

I do hope this game gets good scores, i really enjoy it, all i can do is to score myself :D .(hint)

Trying to determine a game's ultimate success or failure based on initial Metacritic scores, before most of the people rating and reviewing the game have played for more than 1-2 hours, is akin to trying to determine the outcome of an election 6 months in advance based on a poll of 500 people.

The Fanbois can never accept the truth anyways macattac. You can show them all the facts in the world why the game isn't very good and they just won't see it or listen. Facts about unable to launch, crashing, video breaking etc. etc. just go over their heads. But, it really doesn't matter what THEY think the truth will be in the SALES of the product whether it's a failure or success. With review scores like these coming out and the scores dropping so quickly I highly doubt the sales are going to be what is expected.

Agreed.  It certainly doesn't help that even an individual can inflate or deflate a score.  I checked one game recently that had over 150 user scores of 0, without comments on any.  You can imagine how helpful and accurate a reflection of value that is.  The user scores at Metacritic in my opinion are useful much like the reviewer scores, for that matter: you ignore the numbers and read the comments to get some sense of whether the poster/reviewer has a sound background in the genre, a good grasp of the essentials of the game, an ability to logically weight criteria, and decent communications skills.  I think this is also true of any forum reviews, as well.  Numbers?  I've seen critics who dislike products and give them a 9; other critics who rave in ecstasy, and give out a 7.  Numbers are so personal in what they mean, that they cease to have any value that can be shared universally.  Unless you follow a given writer's work, in which case you've broken their numbers code.

I'm glad Metacritic exists and it has helped me determine whether to buy a game, but I think people are far too extreme and often fickle with their ratings for it to be truly reliable. I'd much rather watch a comprehensive video review or read an article by an experienced reviewer.

I am a fanboy of stardock

for a long time

I do like this game, but i see flaws. Flaws in design and execution of design.  I play 4x since reach for the stars. I do look over those flaws because 4x games get rare these days.

So yes i´m a fanboi but nonetheless i have windows to look out of my fanboy ivory tower.

And if you want to call me stupid, ok do it.
