Corrupt file from download.stardock.com?

Three attempts to download, three times corrupted, two different browsers (Chrome and Firefox).

Anyone else having this? I never had problems downloading files before.

It's store.stardock.com, sorry, the original Stardock distribution channel.

Try using Stardock Central : stardock.com/stardockcentral

I heard IE works more reliably for the download.

Well, it's midnight here now, I am giving up, will try to play the game tomorrow. Maybe the download server will be less crowded.

You're not the only one... This is the 3rd time today I have to download this game....

Tried the fourth time on my main gaming rig from Internet Explorer, the same result - corrupt file.

File corrupt again....this is utter nonsense

I managed to install the first time around and then the exe file was missing.

SDC downlods in chunks, checks each chunk before writing to disk, then gets the next chunk. It might be a better option.

Try using Stardock Central : stardock.com/stardockcentral

Stardock Central is having problems as well. I keep getting an "error retrieving file do to IOException". I get this every few minutes, and have to restart the program to get it working again. At least it doesn't have to start from scratch each time though, but it would be nice to just set it to download and come back when it's done.

I'll pass that along.

I tried to warn you all that this Internet thing was a fad. Did I not warn you? The Internet is a fad. ;)

Sorry folks for the download issues. I'm not sure what would cause it but I've sent the goons to check in with IT to find out what the deal is.

Thanks Brad.  I just installed SDC like in the old days....just wish my Galcivs were there as well :)

Edit: SDC has come through for me.  No corrupt file when extracting.

True dat, I hate them Internets, if only they did not put bread on my table...

Thank you and no problem, I guess it's probably server overload, as always at release dates, etc. I will try tomorrow, or the day after, there is nowhere to hurry.

I think the issue is specific to him; I downloaded all three 3GB starting around 7:00 or 7:30PM EST. The download rate was pretty quick using firefox 16 over comcast. The game installed just fine and dandy. Does SDC indicate the low level error when it has an issue (is it having problems with the connection dropping; being reset; or writing to the disk; or other?). Do you have a firewall that could time out the connection or a proxy that could have issues ? Can you get the IP of the server and check for latency and packet loss ?

Btw does SDC use hash for each segment and does it log or report if the hash is incorrect ?

[The install went smooth and I was able to play the first two chapters of the scenario without issue; though when I did get two items and selected trade on both of them the trade window poped up twice; noticed that behavior during the beta also...; should probalby only ask you once per loot grab]

Downloaded straight from my account at the Stardock store site.  No problems on installation.  Works fine.

The full error message is "There was a problem downloading the install file for Elemental: Fallen Enchantress: Error retrieving file due to IOException". I tried turning off my firewall, but it didn't help. Also, the remote ip that I'm downloading from doesn't seem to like pings. Give me a better way to check for latency and packet loss and I'll check.

I should note however that I've downloaded nearly every patch just fine with Stardock Central. This is the first time it's been giving me trouble.

It worked for me from stardock store page, it just took 3-4mins for the INSTALL thingy to come up. Took awhile for some reason. Download only took 15mins to, been playign since around noon.

Great game so far though! Only bug ive seen is the wait/delay for the installer :andrew:

I am not sure why someone ALWAYS feels the need to come to a tech support post and tell us all that everything went fine for them. Baffling.

ANYWAYS..

I got two flubs with Chrome, downloads for 15 minutes or so then I get an error (unknown network error). Maybe third time is a charm. I did have issues during beta though with my connection from Singapore, so that could be it as well.

EDIT - Well, got the thing downloaded (direct download from stardock.com) and bam, corrupt file. Trying SDC now.

This is actually to help tech support identify whether it is a common problem or maybe something specific to the user. If it is a common error, then there is a error in the program. If it is isolated, then there is a conflict with the users machine. Also, we've been in the beta where we were asked to post these things in tech support to identify problems and thus it maybe a bad habit for better or worse.

As it goes I don't know what the problem is as I didn't have any issues either.

Definitely go with SDC.  Worked for me after a couple failed direct download attempts.

I downloaded the whole thing directly from the Stardock store without issue, but good to know about the Stardock Central option.

See, I don't think tech support needs this sort of help. If it was a "common" problem, I am sure the boards would be exploding. Also, random people dropping in don't give any sort of useable sample of users who aren't have a problem. Just a pet peeve of mine, and not particularly relevant to the thread so I will stop talking about it.

ANYWAYS..

Used SDC. Took a little while to download, but installing now just fine. SD should sticky a note to use SDC or something to make everyone's life easier.

Thanks everyone for the help!
