Spent quite a bit of time on just the start menu...

Might just enter GUIC.. who knows.. :| |-)

Will post more as I go...

Cheers!  :cylon: :congrat:

i like the look...especially the HAL of the top startmenu is looking tasty...
but im not a fan of the radialgradient (the zones are a bit visible) in this screenshot, i would like to see them lowered a bit in opacity , while i think they wonΒ΄t be visible when itΒ΄s scaled down...Anyway very nice concept so far wonder what you will do for frames and taskbar

I don't have the critical 'eye' to be able to make suggestions, probably because I'm not a skinner.  I do know that I like this and you should go ahead and enter it in the GUIC.  :sun:

great looking start.

'HAL' [9000] in 2001 was a quaint alphabet shift of 'IBM'.....I'd kinda use the serif 'striped' font of the 'IBM' for the 'HAL'....;)

Other than that....looks clean and classy...;)

Hmm.. do u know the name of the font Jafo? Just used the first Sci-fi font that caught my eye thus far for the preview.

Thanks everyone... Rolo.. the radial gradient u speak of.. is a lens flare... still working on the small stuff tho, subject to change.

One of those rare moments when I get beat to the draw by Jafo. ;)

I think the striped font would look good on the loading screen.

OP updated.

That's better.  OK, the 'connection' [to IBM] might be lost on some...but then I expect so it was for many in 2001 [the Movie] as well....;)

Vstyler - i wasn't talking about the lensflare on the top left i meant the gradient that starts from the center of the startmenu...
i know that sometimes you cant really see the ripples depending on the angle your looking at your monitor but for me these are clearly visible even in the reduced screenshot that has the size of my in use startmenu... no offense just trying to help buddy

Yeah...I'm aware.. tough to get rid of banding \ ripples as u call them if you want any kind of inner glow.. I know what u mean.... but without.. doesn't have the depth that I would like.

Its also going to depend on the type of monitor one is on and its settings. For instance barely noticeable at all on my monitor, Which is an IPS, designed for graphics....altho.. I do see it... but really to me, its negligible and if I want the inner glow there's very little that can be done, that I haven't done already.

Typically on a wallpaper or something that doesn't stretch, being creative with Gaussian blur and noise can help some but more difficult on a stretchable Start menu.

C'est la vie!

Thanks TBC :smitten:

not noticeable on either of my monitors....  :|     ...have it in ps zoomed to over 450% before faintly noticeable...

Banding shows up less on a WB than in the PS Draft........especially if you're going semi-trans with blur enabled on the section in question.

Looks like a winner to me, Johnny!
