Did the devs really put clues in the game's code?

Did the devs really put clues in the game's code?

As the title states did the developers REALLY put in clues as to what the vasari are running from in the games code? The fact we have not seen any legitimate answers is rather suspicious... Nor the fact that the serious modders have not yet found anything either.

I certainly hope that little tidbit was not merely to hype the game, because then I would be sad. :(

I still think it's an enslaved bug race that is coming after them for revenge.

But if they are bugs, how do they survive in space? And how are they able to kill a whole fleet and chase a race for a goddamn long time? Altho not impossible, It sounds...Weird...

I really disagree about the bugs and despite what people keep saying about their ships being shaped like them, the only ones that are are the corvettes which are supposed to.  In the manual, it says that the shape of their corvettes is inspired by bugs, not made out of them.

I just checked the Kultorask in various lighting when around a green star with max graphics..  Nothing happened and didn't see anything we haven't seen before.

Quoting Sinperium, reply 21Ok--I was going to NOT spoil this but I can see the short-bus riding modder's need a boost.

First, green stars are still in the game for a reason.

Secondly, a certain texture on a certain ship at a certain angle will--if zoomed in on--reveal a certain clue (think "Prometheus and ancient caves".

You MUST have all graphics settings on "Highest" and bloom MUST be enabled.

Do NOT PM me as I am NOT going to spell it out but smart people will get it.

Yes, do my mod for me and I will do a full reveal.

i knew it! lol sinp! i knew it! and i pm'd u along time ago about it! k im happy now

Green Star, Green Skybox, all titans viewed, many of the new ships viewed.  Enjoy!... Find that enemy!

Go full screen and 720HD

That first 10 seconds has what appears to be 2 giant bunny heads facing each other.

Hmm, I didn't really see anything weird, exept some bird-like stuff, and at 5:17, It looks like a giant sad face, not sure if it could be something, but found it quite awesome xD(And after watching it again that part, Is it just me or does it look like a skull above the sadface?

I think some sort of replicators, like the ones from the show Stargate sg-1, would be a perfect enemy for the Vasari to be running from. They consume advanced technology to replicate, and can't really be stopped by a fleet of ships, so it could work. And they are relentless. Plus, phase stabilizers look like stargates..

I still stand by whatever was chasing the Vasari is dead. If it was insects for example they were starved by STTC.

Perhaps it was a result of the TEC, Advent and Vasari allying and forming the VAT coalition.

Now they are running from taxes.  O:)

Nice screens Semaz.

It would be on the Vasari ships (not just a titan).  Clue: part of the answer involve= a human torso with arms on a new unspecified ship.

I was hoping someone bright would figure it out without me saying it but ok--here's more help:

It isn't just the green star, each star type gives a clue on a particular ship.  I am NOT giving any more help--that practically a spoiler as is.

I'll be delighted to see who can find it first now--kudos in advance to the smart player out there.

I would have thought "new textures" in Rebellion would have caught someone else's eye not just my own.

I'll do some work tomorrow with it, seeing how I got nothing else to do anyway. I wish I knew more about sins lore tho xD

Careful Sinperium, the devs might ban you for such a spoiler.

That's why I am not spelling it out.

I see it. I'm not spelling it out either. Thanks Sinperium!

So you're saying they're running from the Greeks? ;P

Dude those Vasari textures are trippy as hell. I think you could find almost anything in them if you look hard enough with the right channels and filters.

Seeing how several people have already found it, please share :) I'm looking myself right now, but I suck at these things xD

My thoughts exactly.  Below is all my album of screenshots from Rebellion.  The first few are of random things, but after that, it is entirely pictures taken whenever I "saw" something on a Vasari ship.  I varied the lighting and whatnot, sometimes resulting in many pictures per ship.

Pics

A few notes from all these:

  • The fan/star image on the Navigator can also be found on the Kultorask's back
  • The back of the Kultorask looks like it has some sort of meteor/comet/phase travelling object coming towards the fan/star image
  • The Kultorask has the silhouette of a phase missile platform on each arm
  • The Underside of the Kultorask can be interpreted in many ways including a standing Vasari getting eaten by a bug, a Vasari head, an Owl-looking thing, and a manta-ray mouth
  • The Vorastra's arc thingy from one angle looks like a mask with the rings for eyes whereas from another, it looks like a bug eating something
  • The Rankulas is ridiculous.  Change the angle or lighting a little and you can get all sorts of shapes/monsters that are perceptible.  Far too many to count.
  • The tops of the Corvettes can be interpreted as Vasari/some other race.  One looks like some sort of soldier wearing armor whereas the other from one angle looks evil (has red horns and flame-like things coming off it) and from the other angle just looks like another monster.
  • There's a weird graphical thing on the tail end of one of the capitals (I forget which capital, but the pic is 2012-06-24_00006)
  • There appears to be a mesh error on the underside of the Kultorask's tail-node.

Also, Sinperium, telling us to go look at these things to find a specific thing you're seeing is rather ridiculous unless the image starts glowing or something (never did anything like that in my experience) because there are simply too many ways to misinterpret things.

Watch in 720 HD

You can see some of the details yourself.

Front to Rear: Mind Flayer - Jedi/Palpatine/FallenEnchantress - Clown

Rear to Front: Darth Vader with Lightsaber running to rear.  Rotate around and some face visible where Vader is holding saber at sternum level.

I don't think StarClad would EasterEgg Star Wars so I'm saying the Fallen Enchantress is what is chasing the Vasari -helluva plug for the game!

Couldn't you just upload them to steam so we don't have to download anything?

Insects?  Really, is that the best you guys can come up with?

All I see in this thread is a bunch of people looking in the wrong places.  If you're going to look for clues, you should be looking at phase jump inhibitors, not textures on Vasari titans (which makes no sense, by the way - the Vasari able to build ships have never had any contact with the mystery foe).

Guys I am fairly certain when they say "game code" they don't mean actually in the game. Like maybe there is some hidden text somewhere, they said modders would be able to find it out easily. Looking at the details in ships isn't exactly modder territory.

They did not say modders would be able to find it "easily."  In fact, the whole point was to make the clues difficult to find -  the interview makes this very clear.  "Clues in the game's code" does not mean "textures on ships in the proper lighting," nor would any such clue make any sort of sense.

The only solid clues we have to go on until someone finds whatever they hid in the games code are as follows:

Whatever disaster started this mess occurred at a "transportation lab."

Phase jump inhibitors likely had something to do with it - no race (even the Vasari) has any idea who built them or how they work.  They simply found them floating in space and replicated them.
