[0.913] Video Let's Play and Beta Feedback
In this video we start a new game. A lot of bitching and moaning about the shortcomings of the user interface within the game.

are you ever going to post vidoes of brad's kids in pjs watching on the big screen...cause pics or it didnt happen
Sadly I just don't have the time to watch your videos like I used to... but I still relish to hear your opinions and especially comments regarding the progress they've made with the latest patch 0.914. As you're up to 24 episodes, I imagine you're enjoying it.
How about a little summary of your thoughts for those of use who can't listen... :)
Start using your magic on the camp map.. Have not gotten past episode 14 yet.. But its driving me up the wall that your letting these full stacks sit in your zone of influence and never using any kind of magic on them to dwindle them down before you attack them. :) Im not very good at this game yet... But magic basically is the purpose of the game.. And your only using it in Combat mode... ![]()
I don't have much hair left... LOL.

I enjoyed the game very much. I recorded the full game in a couple of sessions one episode after the other (that's why my voice gets croaky about half way through) and have been uploading to YouTube ever since.
There are 29 episodes (nearly 15 hours) in this series once they are all uploaded - so quite a lot.
By the way, this is the first game of Elemental (WoM or FE) that I have ever actually played out to a result and I found the pacing good once I got past the start. My second game I played after this one was from a much more favourable position and it was boring in comparison to this one.
I'll play a game of 0.914 (not recorded) and list the annoyances I still have in a separate thread.

Lol
I was trying to think of a good excuse but all I can come up with is that I'm a noob. I really don't think much about it while I'm playing but you are 100% correct. I think I do start using some spells later in the series but I don't do it enough.
I've only watched a few of the episodes scattered through, but I do have one question. Were you ever on the ropes in this game? I may have missed episodes where you were, but it seemed like episodes I watched just involved the methodical elimination of enemies.
Of course the AI is a work in progress, this is not meant as a criticism of the game in any way whatsoever. Just curious if the AI ever had you reeling.
Ive watched all of them so far. Besides trading cities with the AI a little bit and a few challenging battles there wasn't really any point where I thought he was in danger of losing.
The first time he fights Magnar (sovreign) is seems like he might have trouble but Magnar didn't participate in battle too many times so that made things easier.
Yes, Magnar himself was unbelievably strong but there weren't too many battles where he featured. If my capital had fallen I think I would have lost but I always had enough troops to protect it.I did feel I was on the ropes during the early game and at one point thought I was going to lose. I remember thinking around episode 6 or 7 that it was all going to end quickly.
I guess what I really liked about this game is that due to early misjudgements and misfortune it meant I had to play a small game for a long period. By that I mean I had to protect a couple of cities and try to build up over time instead of playing the usual stack-of-doom game where you just move anywhere you like and kill everything. I felt that on the strategic map the AI challenged me and largely made decisions that could hurt me. There were times it attacked when it should have known it couldn't win and I'm wondering if that is the AI threading, planning what it can do at one point in time but not adjusting once the circumstances change. For example, if the AI by-passes a city I may send a small stack out to destroy it - leaving the city under-protected. But then a few turns later the city would be attacked but by that stage the stack is back inside.
I really enjoyed the game and it made me play differently - which I think is what I enjoyed the most.
Good to hear. I'll check out some of the videos in the 6-7 range.
And that is the last video in the series. ![]()
Well, that brings that Let's Play series to an end. As a really brief summary of likes and dislikes:
The Good
The Bad(ish)
Nice summary.
The Bad(ish) things seem relatively easy to fix. I hope the devs are reading this. I particulary like your idea about the dynamically scaling and resetting shards. Truly a neat idea. Hope to see it implemented!
Well...if the devs would just make spell mana costs increase proportionally with the number of shards being "used" in the spell, that could easily solve the whole problem.
Congrats on the inevitable win. Like said, it's been a joy to watch this game all the way to the end.
You set taxes to none and complain about going into the red?? (episode 21. Yes, I have seen em all up to 21)
Forget it. You discovered it later ![]()
Is it sick that I played my own game while listening to these videos? I need help.
Just dropping by to say that your video sold the game to me, keep up!
I wonder how many of us were yelling at our monitors while watching that episode. ![]()
