Planning ahead (possible conversion to LH), I am curious what parts of Stormworld people use and like. In other words, what do you like the most about the mod?

A tough question, because most of the parts are giving the game a much better twist. Perhaps first and foremost, the various magic items. Then either factions or monsters. The rest is important too though.

I always wondered why you never added spells or altered/added buildings. Is it because modding is not practical for them?

 

I'm on hiatus regarding FE right now, I'll probably resume playing when LH is out.

Improvements and spells take a lot of time to add and they are difficult to balance.

Improvements in particular I find very boring to add, because there's no room for lore texts so it becomes just a "name+bonus" thing. I also think there are too many improvements in the game already.

For spells, it is too difficult to hit the sweet spot for balance. In other words, they either end up too strong (gets abused) or too weak (never used, disappointing). That's something I can avoid with the Reliquary items - most of those items have their own spell that activates in certain circumstances. Their bonuses can be very strong, but you can't multiply them the same way you could with a strategic champion buff spell for a faction.

For me it would have to be the monsters, then the factions second. I just love all the various evil creatures the mod adds to curbstomp my fledgling empire!

 

edit: Also I love the champions you add. They provide another unique flair, and I cannot wait to see what you will do (if you choose to) with the upcoming expansion.

I use all of it except for the option that disables the vanilla sovs. I love having plenty to choose from and.

If you got me at gunpoint and made me choose what are the most important feeling additions for me when playing, I'd say:

 

1) Sovs (guess this is first since it is so game-changing being able to play a radically different sov and have radically different opponents; all other features in comparison have a less prolonged and less pronounced impact, since they come and go like little bursts of flavour whilst the sovs populate the entire game duration).

2) Champs & Creatures.

3) Relics.

4) Questy eventy stuff.

5) The rest.

 

But gotta say I love it all, it expands and rounds out the base game and makes for far more different experiences between games. To that end it's all pretty important.

 

BTW FE 1.3 patch just released. Does SW 1.5v play nice with it or is that not known yet? If it's not known I guess I'm about to find out lol (UPDATE: About 1/3rd through a game at moment, no issues so far using SW1.5v in FE1.3)

No love for the rivermod? That's probably what I'm most proud of! The rest is just more content, but the rivers actually add something new and unique to the game.

What your mod brings to the table is really excellent, bringing in racial diversity, more starting equipment, and unique items to be found.

Impressions from some of the games I've played....
Angels; Not sure why they are banned from Path of the Gov, would have thought they'd be banned from Assassin.
Elves; Well balanced, love the Secret Paths trait, don't know why they can't build basic Hedge Walls
Shadows; Their inherent +5 move combined with Charge is sick.  A bit OP in my opinion.  The population hit doesn't balance out all the perks they have.  With the crazy move/charge, don't even know why you gave them a specialized mount.  It's like gilding the Lily.
Death Legion; I like them, was unplayable with a custom sovereign after change to Pioneer/Pop changes.
Drota; These were fun to play.  Wish Stardock was a bit more forward thinking about creature types
Frost Giants; Had a lot of fun with these, really felt unique
Golems; I like to blend/tweak these with the Arcane Artificer Mod.  Not sure why Golems have mounts

** River Improvements were an excellent idea **

You could consider something like the Heroes Mod where your Sovereign/Champion gets an optional Path to follow rather
than the pre-determined tree path

I know you set the Monster Spawn generators (Wolfmen, Halfdrakes, etc) to only producing a single unit.  Really wish this
had a default values of 4+2 Units for each advancement of the monster camp tech.  Not much incentive on the Tech Tree
when you know the yield is only 1+1 unit(s).  It's not like these were spawning something game changing like Dragons.

Some of your pre-made Sovereigns start better off than can be designed through the create character option.
Take a look at Lochean (Golems).  He basically has 2 additional points that can't be replicated by custom
design.  Vini (Centaur) has Ice Spear (costing 1) and Basic Shield (costing 0), both items unavailable normally.

Animal Spirit: Walkabout was a neat idea, but the execution on summoning feels like it takes forever when comparing, say,
summoning an Elemental.  I parked 2 turns and got a basic wolf.  Yay?

By the way, my own personal preference for what is important for LH would be the new champions I have in this mod. Although they may not all play unique, I think there will be a lot more possibilities for heroes to look unique in LH. Looking forward to seeing what we can mod in LH.

Shadowbolt is costing double what the tooltip say it's costing and it goes into minus numbers if you cast it when you shouldnt be able to

Thanks, I'll put out an update for that now. If you want to fix it yourself and save yourself an hour wait, open Reliquary_OVERWRITE_corespells.xml and remove this from the Shadowbolt spell at the bottom.

Heavenfall is it techincally possible and/or allowed to use some of your wonderful items as loot in a straight FE game?

I love stormworld, but sometimes I like to play original FE - I would love to be able to incorporate some of your items in the lootdrops...

[Admission] I don't use the items that can cause a Hex, I just sell them. ;-)  It's very rare that you will be so out of choices that a hex-causing item is the only option for clearing the map. =)

The Reliquary is heavily integrated into the normal loot drops from the game. Just install the Reliquary and the other required modules and you are good to go.

Is it possible to prevent duplicates of Reliquary items?  I got three The Combined in my last game, and at least two of that ball that gives you health back when you are at 3% or lower.
