Rebellion convert data out now since update?

I see dev.exe in this update and others...

Well I see "ConvertData_Rebellion.exe" and Sins of a "Solar Empire Rebellion Dev.exe" in this update that unlocked Advent. Anyone tried converting "GameInfo" and "String" folders?..

now, don't go modding rebellion beta stuff, it diverts from testing Rebellion and people will be douchebags to you if you even think of it.  :troll:

Right...cause all the people playing as Vasari and Advent before they were released completely ruined the Beta...

I converted the files successfully, but I won't post them as it might get me in trouble. O:)

Because Advent, and Vasari are not remotely close to being balanced, and ready yet.

Yes, that's why the Devs just released the Advent right?

Well they rescinded their "accidental" release of v.75...though I have a hard time believing it was accidental...

Have a conspiracy theory as to why they changed their mind then Seleuceia? o_O

It's easy--the release of Rebellion won't actually have the Advent in it.

Some have argued that this is a ploy to garner more interest...I don't think that's the case, but I do have a very hard time believing it was released completely by accident...

Maybe one person just thought it'd be interesting to toy with everyone, who knows...

They wanted everyone to be happy with the shape the TEC is taking by releasing the barely touched Advent?

No...they wanted to keep people interested by tantalizing them with what the Advent are getting (which I daresay is a lot more interesting than the new TEC bonuses)...

At least, that's the theory...I don't buy it either, but I have to admit there's something to it...I mean, we have a thread that's title basically states "I'm bored with TEC only"...and people have very little good stuff to say about corvettes or the new capital ship...but I don't think SD cares enough about short term petty "fan interest" to pull a stunt like that...nevertheless, the "accident" did succeed in getting a lot of interest...corvettes look much more promising, the new advent cap is pretty awesome, and the Advent have some pretty interesting entity modifiers in their tech trees (assuming they eventually work, of course)...

I think someone somewhere thought it'd be funny, or just let it slip nonchalantly...

Or maybe it really was just an accident...though I find that to be a rather unusual accident, seems too....deliberate of an action....

well, it came out because someone at Steam pushed some keys and it is Steam so no conspiracy theories are needed.  Someone just screwed up and that is Steam's well charted territory imho.

Oh....that is more than enough to start a Steam conspiracy theory  }:)

I'm not sure what's so hard to believe about it being an accident.

Sure, it might not be, but a mixup of that sort wouldn't really have to be anything more than uploading one folder rather than another, likely with similar names and the only notable differences being version numbers, and when you consider that the .75 build exists it's pretty reasonable to assume that that's what that devs have been working with recently. Not all that surprising that someone would make the mistake of thinking the build they''d been working on up until that point was the one supposed to go out...

But that's the thing...nothing was supposed to be released at all...it's not like they intended to release v.63, but accidentally released v.75....there was no intended release...

It just seems really weird that they could have an accidental release when no release was intended...I'm not saying it's impossible, I just find it very very strange...

Well, just ask a dev... wait.  nm.  better off shaking up the magic 8 ball

So close, so close.

Beta 2 does have the Convertdata AND the Dev exe now, so let the modding fun begin!

string

String file doesn't need to be converted... only .entity, .mesh, .particle, .brushes, and maybe a few others.

the current release textbin gui does work with the latest ConvertDataRebellion.exe renamed to ConvertDataRebellion.076.exe and copied into the same folder as the textbin gui is in, and you have copied the rebellion program folder out of the program files tree and also added  '.76' to the end of the rebellion folder name, and I am in the process of converting the files to text mode in my STEAM powered computer. it would go a lot quicker if I had copied the files to one f my electrically powered computers, but at present the only copies of the files are on my steam powered machine.

Did you hear?  They upgraded the RAM for your steam PC type from 4 Hamsters to 8 now....

seleuceia, the steam powered computer is using a amd x2 6000+ as the boiler ie 120 watts of steam to power the computer and it does have the MAXimum amount of ram that the motherboard supports in it's two slots ie 2 x 2gb ddr2 800 totaling 4gb, and the conversion took 50 minutes (in the about two thirds of the time it could have converted the entire vanilla, entrenchment and diplomacy sets before steam was added to the machine).
