Woha, new internal build

Kael has nearly finished implementing the stat system for FE.

It's like that line from Star Wars "The last vestiges of the Old Republic have been swept away."

How cool would it be to see Grand Admiral Thrawn kicking butt and taking down names? Or even Admiral Daala and the Maw Installation?

I think it means that many Bothans have died getting us this information

You know I have always thought she had said "Harry Bothans died getting us this information" until I got the remix Star Wars trilogy and was able to play the scene several times. :)

"Harry Bothans must not return to hogwarts!"

See, Star Trek the Next Generation actually got better after the passing of Gene Roddenberry, rest his soul.  Maybe thats what Star Wars needed, George to die before he made the second trilogy.

True, but there were many other factors that contributed to it's success besides the passing of it's creator (ie. TV success, characters, modernization, funding... least of which, better writing).

Also, loved the Bothan comment above... those poor cat people :(

Talking about Star Wars on a video game message board is like throwing chum in shark infested waters...nerd infested forums...

I'm looking forward to it.  I really hope that stats are meaningful and that my champion is more than his gear.

Lord Xia, quotes like that are why you're cool and fun to read (and your Dynasty Warriors/RoTK image).

As for Trek, as early as WoK, Star Trek was on its way up.  Gene didn't have to die, but it was good that he took on an advisory role.

Here's to Trek XI!

Star Wars is to Star Trek as WWF is to UFC.

So I know what Star Wars and Star Trek are, but what is WWF and UFC? Do they have spaceships in them? Or dragons? If not, why did you mention them, they are irrelevant.

So, any idea when we will see this stat system?

I still have PTSD from the SAT. I liken things to each other compulsively. I got a great score, but at what cost? At what cost!?  XO

Actully New Generation Star Trek started to get  good after they killed off Tasha Yar. Hated that character

Wesley, Yar, and the second doctor were all terrible characters. They are just lucky i wasn't manning the transporter when they used it. Accidents do happen...

That's almost like a running joke. In one episode, they had a character that was afraid of using the teleporters. Everyone treated that person like an idiot. - "They're completely safe", they said.

And yet, every other episode there's a transporter malfunction or delay causing sufficient drama. It's an obvious deus ex machina. Shit, their teleporters are probably the most unreliable piece of equipment they have on any starship.

If their ship weapons had been as unreliable, they would have lost the war against the dominion. And every other war before that.

Aren't you forgetting the Halodeck?

Yes, the holodeck is just as prone to malfunctioning, but they don't depend on the holodeck for adventures. The holodeck was used either to forward character development, or provide an alternative setting for a nonsense storyline. Only very rarely did it have any real impact on what was going on - most notoriously Picard shooting borg with a tommy gun, and the whole thing in Voyager when the ship gets captured and half the ship turned into a hunting ground (cue allies vs nazis fighting).

What I mean by teleporters being unreliable is, for example, what happened in the latest star trek movie. They need to plant some explosives on a drill, and evacuate people, but OH NO the teleporters aren't working so we have to "space jump". But that's only because teleporters in themselves are such gamechangers that they NEED to be disabled in most scenarios for the plot to have any meaning. Someone planted a nuke in a facility? Teleport in, disable, teleport out, done and done in 2 minutes. That wouldn't work. So the teleporters can't go through the radiation/shielding and now you have a plot. And that's why the teleporters are on the very top of my list of "unreliable junk".

As to the god machine, remember how Scotty survived to be in the next generation? I am stuck in this shuttle and there is no way out. LOL I'll just hang out in the pattern buffer until someone comes along...

And the discovery he made to do that is totally forgotten in all other episodes. Call me a geek, but when you watch every series at once, you start to notice that the plot seems to specifically avoid solutions that were done by other series and episodes in general. Kind of bugs me. Especially when I saw the first movie. I kept waiting for someone to mention the M5 Probe, until I realized the movie was that episode with a higher budget. So much geek rage inside me now.
