Too many pirates...too many rebels

Too many pirates...too many rebels

get rid of them

I haven't read like any of the forum so I don't know if this has been talked about..but when a faction is not attacked by rebels or pirates they just f^&*ing sit there at the planet and accumulate.  I'm about to cap a planet with about 2,000 rebel ships.  It will take me at least two hours the clear them out.  I don't have to- I do it for the hell of it.  But this must be addressed...there must be a limit to how many ships can accumulate at a planet and how many pirates can occupy the pirate planet.

This is not only an unnecessary nuisance ( like this post) , but a system killer.  I have 2500k @ 4.5 Ghz and 8 GB of RAM and a 64-bit OS.  I should be kicking this game's ass.

I complained about this to the maker of the Maelstrom Mod and he fixed it.  I expect the Sins creators to do the same or I will demand my $29.99 back or sue the bastards.

Thank you very much! :)

Quoting KarlBar99, reply 13@minidump: in a 3 hour 4 player game i see a total of about a 100 pirate ships accumulatte that way. Trade ships are a bigger issue than pirates.

I dont play 4 players games.  This game was made to be epic.  I play 10 player games that last for 2 days.

I'm sure you could, buit it's kind of irelevent.

The devs have explicitlly stated that after about 3 to 4 hours the AI code just starts producing too many decishion points and thing start spiraling downwards performance wise. That game just can't handle single matches longer than haklf a day or so without going tottally gah gah.

Enevn more practiclly, the AI's should be killing off the pirates around 3-4 hours in anyway, (they allways do in my games, ushually via novaliths, (yes this is in diplomacy)). So more than a hundred ships is very unlikliy period.

If your seeing more than that it's because your reguarly throwing all your money onto bounty's from the game start and playing against easy economic/researcher AI's. Those just can't defend themselves and huge bounty's spawn huge fleets, as a result you'll see a drasticlly longer timeframe before they kill the pirates, and many more ships per raid, and many more raids surviving to come back.

um...no?  I almost NEVER spend money on bounty.  They attack even when there is no bounty on anyone.  They attack the last target.  Maybe I spend bounty to get out of one raid in the beginning.  By the time I have my fleet up, it's all trivial.  And I when I play a tough AI I set it to random.  I don't know who's doing what or cheating how.  AI's do not kill pirates unless they attack..  They will leave a pirate base alone the whole game, regardless of it's strength.  I've never seen an AI kill off a pirate base, never once.

All I care about, is trimming the unnecessary fat from this game so it's playable after 6 hours.  You guys can argue all the details.  I just play the game.

I could swear I saw a AI Novalith a pirate base yesterday. But I'm not 100% sure.

I saw one in my game after about a day of playing the same map(but it was like WTF because i made a custom map and let the pirates have 50 bases while i had 500 planets to colonize and the AI had its three planets and a bunch of wormholes which it never enters :P fun times

AIs Novalith pirate bases all the time. It's usually their first and repeated target until the pirates are dead.

And yes, minidump, the buildup wouldn't be happening if the pirates weren't succeeding on raids. The AI in Rebellion is utter shit right now, pirates kick their asses and skip back to base happy as can be while the AI sit there jump dancing.

Oh they will do it in dimplomacy, but they need a fair amount of rescources. I guess it depends how aggressive you are. And what you do with the AI's. I tend to set them to a mix of aggressive and fortifier AI's. These build a lot more ships and a lot more tactical structures than the others. In fact generally they're a lot stronger all round. If you combined that with my own slow and steady approach the AI tends to be throwing a lot of rescources into it's tactical structures and expanshion, but not losing many. As a result even on normal difficullty they'll start putting them up if they're allowed to accummulate the necessery rescources. The more aggressive you are the less they do it. But the Pirate base is a regular target for them. The Novalith can outight eliminate them, and the Vassari cannon can take out the platforms if they get enough together, which seems to drasticlly increase the AI's willingness to go there. On lower difficullties it's just a few lone sige frigates, but i suspect at the really high difficultys i don't play at they'd send rather more.

In this Beta maybe they novalith a pirate base but NEVER by force of attack with a fleet. I have played hundreds of games in all the iterations....I've never seen an AI attack a base full of pirates when they owned the base.  NEVER EVER. And you miss the point, I don't care if they succeed on raids...this must change...there is NO REASON for that many pirates under any circumstances.

I already novalithed the base.  These are only the pirates you can see  They ring the planet in the same depth and proportion all the way around...if you zoom too far they all disappear.

Does this look right to any of you?  Should this be happening?  THE DEVS MUST ADDRESS THIS IT WASTES MY TIME.

HAHAHA

There is a secret area affect weapon somewhere, right?

As I said, this is only happening because of the broken AI, which is already being addressed, now calm down.

Everybody here is talking about the pirates, which actually do something, even if they are a pain. But what about the Rebels (mentioned in the OP) that build up around you planets after you've researched Truce Amongst Rogues? There can be a huge build up of them in each gravity well that do nothing and presumably eat up processing resources.

Yeah how pirates are in rebellion beta is of no consuquence. It's happning because the AI just can't defend itself right now. This does not happen in dimplomacy for example.  AT least not before the AI novaliths them into non-existance or breaks them down with Bassari Cannons.

I think Rebel's spawned by the Insurgency techs either need some new classification so that Truce Among Rogues doesn't work on them or for Truce Among Rogues to stop their spawning/eventually despawn them in wells controlled by someone with the tech researched.
