Less than 10 days to go…

Less than 10 days to go…

T_Thunderstrike_PaintingIn 10 days, we’re going to start activating Elemental: Fallen Enchantress on tens of thousands of user accounts. It’ll be, by far, the largest “beta” release we’ve ever done.

We’re going to be rolling the dice a little here. There’s no NDA. Players are free to praise or pan what they get.

In the past year, we’ve greatly expanded our development team, brought in industry veterans and with the sale of Impulse, our top game developers have returned to the game unit to work on Fallen Enchantress.

We’re both excited and nervous for how people will react to Fallen Enchantress.  It has been our collective “baby” for the past year. More so than anything we’ve worked on before.

I won’t go into too much detail on how many long hours Derek and I have brain stormed different quests, different types of loot, interesting spells, and how to make the AI play differently from one another in a way that’s obvious to players.   It’s been a very enjoyable experience having this kind of time to do this kind of thing. And we’re not done.

Owners of Elemental: War of Magic (WOM) will be getting an email next week going through what Fallen Enchantress is and how they can download it.

The beta release will go in two phases. January 19 will be to everyone who pre-ordered WOM. A week later will be everyone else who got WOM in 2010.

Stay tuned!

And to keep expectations safe: Assume the game is so horrible it'll give you a terrible disease.

Oh awesome, I've been bumped up to the earlier timeslot. Last time this was mentioned it was only people in the beta of WoM that got it on the 19th, and I preordered after the beta closed.

I want to be bumped up!!!

I don't post much on this forum; but I've been around for a long time and I read the forum everyday.

I too believe Lord Xia should be bumped up. He has quite a presence on this forum.

Time to trade in some of that karma.

I was hoping that perhaps stardock would answer a question:

What if you didn't preorder WOM, or for that matter, buy WOM at all?

I'm VERY interested in what you are doing here. However, I didn't hear (for some reason) about WOM until well after it's release - in fact, until after FE was announced. It therefore made no sense to buy WOM at all. However, I'd very much like to get in on the beta and help out with the process if I could be allowed to. Is there any opportunity for shlubs like myself, or are we just going to have to look in at envy at the cool kids?

Awesome news. Time to say goodbye to WOM :(

More or less, I'm hoping FE is everything I've ever wanted from Elemental. Minus some... minor major annoyances. like the fact that i design a unit and the cost isnt too bad. then i go to make it and i have to make 6, meaning 6 times the cost i thought it was going to be? that, my fellow gamers, is annoying. And if there is a way to change it to less that i don't know about, please tell me. I would be so happy to finally really enjoy my pre-ordered  limited edition copy of Elemental. Because in the past year and a half, it has been (somewhat) gathering dust. Mainly because i feel that unit training, a major part of Elemental, was ruined for me.

FE, make me believe in magic.

I can't speak for Frogboy, but it would make sense for him to open it up to people who preorder Fallen Enchantress some time in February.

Don't worry Mr. Wardell, I promise I'll treat your baby well, and have her back before midnight.
I borrowed my Dad's car, and we're just going to drive through cinema to catch the latest Jerry Lewis.  I'm not like one of those other guys who'd lie to you and keep her out till the Sun comes up.
She's in good hands.

I will probably spend the first few days going through the XML. Best part of the game.

It's one thing to be a fanatical gamer, but it's statements like that that'll get you labeled a Nerd! }:)

Boo, I didn't pre-order, I got it at release    Oh well...

With as much as you post on here they should manually add you to the January 19th beta pool.

On a side note I did pre-order the game in late 2009 so I cant wait to get my copy on the 19th :-)

Dangit I checked and it looks like I ordered the Collectors edition of the game in early 2010 not late 2009 as I had originally thought. so it looks like I wont get to play the beta until the second wave of beta invites goes out :-(

Keeping my fingers crossed that I haven't accidently deleted that email, cause I'm one of the E:WoM preorder people and its the 18th and i haven't seen any forewarning yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I think you are fine for early access.  Any preorder is good for jan 19th is how I understood it.

Just one more night =)

So when is this going to go live? I'm all for using 0:00 UTC time ;-) Or is it the first thing for Brad, when he comes into office, to press the big red button?

So what happens if you bought WOM in September 2010 and you still have not gotten an email or invite to beta? Support just sent me an email telling me to check the website to see when beta starts?

E-mails will be tomorrow I am guessing form previous experience. We will likely see the game sometime after lunch Midwestern time. You can't launch on an empty stomach afterall.  :d
