Champions may not die, but they might wish they had

In Fallen Enchantress, champions don’t die if they are defeated in a battle. Instead, they get injured and pick up a negative trait which has some negative effect on their stats.

That is really going to make people happy. Almost glad there is no beta yet. My expectations are beginning to rise.

Didn't someone suggest this a while back on the forums...? Glad to see you're reading our posts!

Ah excellent solution glad that's in. Does XP take a hit as well?

Nice one. But will it be shown in the champion's portrait...?

I like this, though I think you should be able to regenerate parts/grow new parts with high lvl life/death magic.

Maybe the empire that defeated him should get a new artifact - Jagnir's Ear!

I love this!!!  I am really looking forward to the beta.

This is awesome. If champions are going to run away like wusses it's good to know they'll at least bear the scars of the battle.

I'd like to know this as well.

Don't. Assume it will suck and give you a terrible disease.

Depends on the injury.  There is no "You lose XP" generic thing in there. But I've had champions get amnesia and lose a level.

"29 mana was used to retreat" - so what if they don't have 29 mana? ah.. captured maybe?

Then he implodes taking out the 4 nearest elemental nodes.  Duh.

...but WHICH ear is missing?

I need immersion, dang it!

Nice, really nice. Reminds me of the critical injury cards in Pathfinder RPG.

I can imagine:

  • Severe Burn from magic use misfire reduces charisma
  • Cowardly reputation for fleeing the battle reduces charisma

What happens if you lose two ears? Can you lose three ears?

If the sovereign is killed in battle does his army surrender or suffer a morale related penalty? Will untrained units lose spirit and flee the battlefield?
