How Long Have You Been Here?

How Long Have You Been Here?

Tell us your date.

Hey guys, I have seen a lot of just plain useless threads in my time. Why not make another?

I thought it might be interesting to see how many old timers are still here.

I stumbled across a record of my becoming a member here at WC.

I seem to be coming up on my 7th anniversary. Contrary to my current info.

Here is the real date.

EDIT: BTW, for those who've been gone a while, I'm PuterDudeJim.

Let's see yours?

Brad counteracted this by opening up Wincustomize to non-Stardock skinnable applications from the very beginning -

And continues doing to this day...  with the Rainmeter Gallery.

Just in case anyone ever doubts his dedication to skinning.

Thanks for the memories, Jorge.  :)

Hello Master Noob!

Originally, way back when, I signed up as Carguy.

After a few years of not using the account, I had forgotten my password and was unable to get the profile to work when I came back in 2007.

Since my ISP/email I had at the time was no more, I found it easier just to create a new profile.

This thread now has me wondering what my original number was. If I found out, I could create a new avatar and have it as the license tag number. Either that or I could animate it and have it flash my old number every 30 seconds or so.  ;)

#65 - Excellent work RND, I shall allow you to stew in your own sweat for a few, ( or stare at Zubaz's spelling slaughter in reply #60 ). Either scenario will neither be pleasant or ( in your own native tongue) "purdy"!

Thanks, Jorge for posting the 'history lesson'.  I'm glad not to be the only one who recalls it all [though I had 'tried' to forget Sam Jain....he was an evil piece of work...I read all the logs] as the history, our history is important as it's what has shaped us/our community...;)

I think I still have those logs in a backup somewhere... :) I particularly remember one non-business log where he was chatting up some girl and tries to impress her by stating out of the blue how 'he had just fired someone'. The man was obsessed with power, lol.

Jan is currently a fugitive from US justice and thought to be living somewhere in the Ukraine... Remember those fake 'your computer is infected' and 'your PC is being scanned' pop ups, a few years ago, which scared users into buying an associated AV engine (which did nothing but rid your PC of the pop ups it had put there in the first place) ? He was one of the three persons behind that scheme.

Moving beyond the 'rotten apples', sometimes I wonder what happened to some of the key 'players' of back then... in particular Shoggot (Skinz.org webmaster at its peak) and Thibaud Djian (developer of Hoverdesk), who, in one way or the other, helped shape Windows customization as it is today.

I remember well some of the antics that were going on over at Skinz.org. I was very happy when this site was born.
Anybody remember DeskMod? I miss that site....

...and Mian and Toasty ...the original owners of skinz.org  [couple of guys from South Oz, as I recall]...;)

This is the kind of history on our skinning heritage that I was hoping to see when I started this thread. I hope to see more old timers too.

Thanks guys, for your parts in this great community!!
