Can I Uninstall Impulse Now?

Since Gamestop now owns Impulse and it is evidently no longer being used to provide updates to Stardock customization products, can I uninstall it now? I only use it for Stardock customization products, no games or anything else.

Wow, not sure how long I can stand not being on the cutting edge.

I'm so used to running a beta it will be hard to just be an average Joe.

HOW do you "verify" your programs now without Impulse ? Doc pointed out before this that if something didnt work properly and nothing else seemed to be the problem you should "Verify" the install..... ????

What I don't get is why so many people are so keen on uninstalling Impulse as if it was a rootkit or some sort of a virus, or used 2 GB of RAM permanently. I'll keep it for a while, as IT DOES NO HARM. Or did I miss something ?

Or did I miss something ?

Only about 1,000 "Impulse sux ass/is evil/will ruin your computer/has plans of taking over the world" Threads :P

Seriously, I have supported impulse since the very early beta (remember green impulse and blue impulse?) and am sorry to see it go.

I did not mean that I did not like Impulse when I started this thread. I only asked because I noticed that it had now become useless for upgrades and was not being used for that any more by Stardock. I liked the way Impulse operated, but I figured why have software on my PC that did not serve any useful purpose any more at all.

That and version and serial number checking is why I'm hanging on to Impulse for a while. Oh, and IRC as well.

Impulse will function for you until your sub runs out or you renew.

As for archives, I'd download and save the relevant .exe's on a disc (cd) or image your disc if I were you.

I'm so happy I can uninstall this garbage. However, the lack of an auto-update feature for my Stardock products really stinks. We DID spend good money on the software products and one important aspect of support for the products has now been removed. I made many purchases on Steam long before this GameStop software showed up on my desktop. I don't need a clone.  What I need is the support features that have been "stolen" from loyal Stardock customers. I'm sure there are many who are in complete agreement.

You can download the new SDC from HERE It is in beta, but is working great. It will auto update most SD software.

I'm not sure about all SD games, as I have none to update but many will be there and more are being added.

It's very lightweight, not at all like Impulse. Just logon with your SD info and you should be set.

jspuckett - Is it really all that hard to check once a week before making your backup?
