Can I Uninstall Impulse Now?

Can I Uninstall Impulse Now?

Since Gamestop now owns Impulse and it is evidently no longer being used to provide updates to Stardock customization products, can I uninstall it now? I only use it for Stardock customization products, no games or anything else.

Well I still have it on the computer, I guess I just like to be different.

Let me be clear for anyone else reading this thread.  Impulse is alive and well for games, all this is pertaining to desktop apps.

I understand that, I'm just keeping it around for subscription expiration dates until the 'new' desktop apps program shows up.

I just like to keep my recovery options open. ;)

Still doesn't answer how we're supposed to update our ODNT apps.

Updated to what.. the latest production release? Most of us ( I believe ) don't use those. We use the latest beta release.

I agree I no longer use Beta of WB as it was messing up Excel 2007 when I tried to run it as as smaller window. I can still get beta from Impulse so I will keep impulse I know it works for apps as I just did a My colours Burgundy install using Impulse

How cumbersome. It doesn't tell us when it was updated or anything. So now we basically just have to arbitrarily download a bunch of separate installers and cross our fingers that it's actually an update?

You don't have to do anything.  You can continue to use what you have.

Until teh next thing comes out, Island Dog will post when there are updates released.

It's not perfect, but it's not the end either.

"Use what I have" is Impulse which has apparently been abandoned for ODNT users. Really should have had something else in place for us. Seems pretty unprofessional to me. Gaming seems to be much more important to Stardock now.

Impulse got so much crap from the whiny gamers and we always defended it, and now we've been hung out to dry. Disappointing.

You are not being "hung out to dry" Steph.  You have access to what is released via teh store link.  You'll be alerted to new releases by Island Dog.

The system is temporary.  It will get better . . again.  :)

That's true, I doubt 40-50 "regulars" on the forum represent approx. 4.5 million registered users of which, I assume, a majority are also customers of some type Stardock product but are they "in the loop" like regular WC visitors? Some companies I've purchased software from email me with each and every change, update, etc. no matter how small but the only thing I receive from SD is "sale" notifications or information about buying additional products. Is anyone else kept up to speed on what's going on other than by visiting the site and should that possibly be a priority for good customer service...for ALL?!?!?

Back on topic....glad I can dump Impulse!

Baby steps, right?

Users that follow teh site will be informed of updates through the site.  Those that don't, won't for the moment.  But . . they have a working app, right?  All is well.

If there is some update that is critical, SD has the means to send out a mass mail and will.

Again, not the last iteration of the system we want, but a good interim system.

Ok, let me see if I got this. SD will e-mail us with update information? Eventually?

I didn't say that . . I said it's an option SD has.  Just hold tight while things get settled.
