How do I regress from the latest release back to 1.00?

Simply put, that. I can't get the AI to use a single diplomatic ship, permanently locking me at "HATED" relationships on their end. Until someone tells me a fix, how do I go back to original.

but 1.21 -doesn't work.- There's got to be SOMETHING I can do!

Not unless you bought the trinity disk or made a backup of 1.0 (or rather 1.2 would be better).

Not unless you have the original Trinity disk. Or you made a backup of an earlier version.

You're screwed.

Learn to play online with only human players and you won't have to worry about the sillyness of the AI.

Online multiplayer in any game is not for everyone.  It's not for, how shall I put it, girly-men with thin skins who overreact to every little comment someone makes.  I suppose it isn't for sensitive people with low self-esteem.  It's for laid-back cool people who can roll with the punches.  There are some jerks online, but having to suffer them is a small price to pay in order to enjoy a higher-quality game.  You have to be able to laugh at other people's behavior; it's all part of the fun.

*facepalm*

I don't enjoy online multiplayer in Sins. It's mostly because of the fact that I prefer to play a slower paced game, and not the rapid-fire pseudo-unit-spam of online MP in Sins. Certainly not because of any attitudes of people online, and believe me, I could roll with the punches if I wanted to.

But that's because I like to ignore them and kick them in the face instead.

Personally, I'm just not into multiplayer because getting people I can enjoy playing against for several hours together, getting everyone to agree and setting up a game is a pain sometimes. That's all. The AI is never too busy, and won't lag out.

This attitude (Along with liking longer games) is why I won't play Sins MP anymore. I've played plenty of harsher games. But the 'I PLAY ONLINE I'M SUPERIOR' attitude is a pet peeve for me.

Like I said, you have to be able to tolerate a little bit of other people's e-penis stroking behavior.  Perhaps this is why online multiplayer in most competitive RTS and FPS games is pretty exclusively a male dominion.  I don't see why game length should be an issue since most games only take 1:30 or less to play.

not including the half hour spent painstakingly negotiating team arrangements, of course.

You're talking about the entertaining meta-game before the game.  True dat.

I tried playing an online game once and I seriously sat there for 30 minutes with half the morons screaming at each other about how to set the game up, another one was just spamming about everyone's mother, and the rest were AFK.  Finally right as their collective IQ's were converging on a solution, I was booted from the lobby - I guess to make room for another moron.  I have never complained about playing against the AI ever since.

A random "just give me a match" feature no host/setup required would certainly help a lot. It would allow new players to start playing more easily and perhaps reduce wait times for those just wanting a match and don't care about teams etc.

WELL, ALLLL-RIGHTY THEN....

This thread has veered WAYYY off topic! Let me just try to get this thing back on topic w a question of my own.

I was running Diplomacy v1.011, downloaded an awesome sounding Mod for v 1.21, and did an update to get me there. Alas, I didn't realize that the update was now v1.31, and of course NONE of my Diplomacy Mods are going to work. ARRRRGH!!!!

OK.

I FUCKED UP.

I know I can't regress an updated version of the game unless I made a backup, etc so here is my question:

If I go ahead and purchase the Trinity set (Geez, I'd hate to have to re-buy what I've already bought, just in a new package!) will I still be locked in the v1,31, or will that regress me back to v1.21 when I install Trinity? Also, if I purchase and download Trinity from Impulse/Stardock is it going to automatically update me to v1.31 again, resulting in a wassted purchase?

Any input/help would be GREATLY appreciated. THANX!!

Yes. Any packaged version of Trinity still around would still be below 1.121 and you cannot choose which update you want. Its an all or nothing system. Flip side most supported mods are almost up to 1.131 standards anyways so check back with the mod thread/site.

Thanx for the quick response Ryat!

Problem is, the Mod I want is STARS v2.4 for Diplomacy (One of my absolute favorite Mod series!) whch the modder recently updated for v1.21, and has specifically stated that it won't be updated to v1.31 due to far to many changes in the v1.31 update.

So it seems that there is hope for me, just gotta re-purchase and then NOT update to v1.31 right?

THANX FOR THE HELP!

Well if you repurchase the best you can get is something below 1.121 update. In other words the Stars v2.4 won't work with that either. I would recommend using harpo99999's update tool to see if it would work in updating the thing. Or attempt it yourself with myfist0's modding directions.

Excellent!

Thanx again for clarifying for me. I've got Harpos tool, and will give it a try. Bonus for me is, using Harpos tool, I will now also get to play most of my old favorite Mods again!
