Campaign for Sins Rebellion?

Campaign for Sins Rebellion?

Will there or can there be a Campaign for Sins Rebellion?

Hey, I was wondering if there was going to be a campaign to Sins Rebellion, as it could make the game play more dynamic and make the game have more variety. It could also give people a better understanding of the lore of the game. Maybe make campaign also multiplayer? What are your thoughts on this?

What would be really great would be if they made a campaign editor, allowing modders and mappers to do the design work.

The new Galaxy Forge is supposed to have an editable objective thing, which would allow modders to create a campaign,  such as the one I'm thinking about for the Darkness.

They have said there will be different victory conditions, one could throw together a series of maps to be played in order to get a campaign.

In theory you could make a campaign right now via modding. For example having a map spawn with structure that kills all units/structures/planets of your enemy after a certain time. Defend said structure till time goes off. You now have your survive X mins mission. You could also create a map that 'expands' its self over time using modifed phase inhibitors. Not perfect but someone could start with that, and do more once the new GF is release with Rebellion.

Also, incase yall not seen the FAQ recently:

Q: Is there a single-player campaign?

A: No, Sins of a Solar Empire encourages players to create their own course of events through a sandbox mode. Scenario maps are also included that set the stage for epic conflicts, along with a random map generator. Players can also craft their own maps in-game or by using the included Galaxy Forge tool.

And by "not perfect" you mean "very bad", I'm sure.

No, I mean its plausable and do able to set some campaign style objectives and triggers currently.

Its what you kids want. No. But someone could work with what is currently usuable till Rebellion. Even then your not gonna get a true campaign.

I was just offering a creative suggestion for those who are hell bent on this topic.

From: Brandon Rogers
Question: Will there ever be a campaign?

Answer: Yes, just not in the Sins 1 series. ;) We are looking to add some more interesting scenarios in Rebellion, however.

So does that mean that there will be a Sins II and it might have campaign?

campaign for rebelion would be VERY cool, especially since there than can be a boss(superuberduperwtfgraping titan) which would be the only thing i would actually play the campaign for, just to grape that sun-of-a-b*tch with an epic army :D

*actually, i can make that ubertitan already by changing some stats when i get rebelion xD

It's not happening.

They have to to re-do the engine for multi-core processors for sins 2 then make an epic campaign with the head room they have to achieve an awesome experience through gameplay and graphics.

Its what i'd do right now.

They should have been working on an engine for multi-core processors 2 years ago.

It is with a small cry of joy that I read that the devs are working on better tutorials.

I suggest that Sins is a very hard game to learn. I also play Civ 3 and 4. Now those games you maybe watch a couple video, turn the difficulty down to self destructive moron for AI and start playing. Presently you are pretty good. It is all there for you to see and you get immediate feedback on everything you do.

1. Better tutorials are part of the answer.

2. The second part is fairly easy. A series of videos on youtube either by the devs or good players with fraps. The videos walk the new player through starting a game. I'm doing this so that I can do that. Explain each step. Then a video on basic strategy and tactics for each race. Then perhaps several videos on tips and tricks. Or just "what I like to do" videos. These will help a lot. I think the videos would be fun to make. I mean hopefully they are so that the joy of playing can infect the new player.

The current method of throwing people in and trusting that they iwll learn to swim just stinks. It results in a lot of unhappy new players, bad buzz, and a small player base.

I typically love campaigns, but they really do fall flat on the story side of things when RTSes are involved.

Bad characters, cliche plots, and a uninteresting resolution (I'm looking at you, Ensemble Studios).

All I can suggest is that it'd require a damn good writer on staff in order to get any approval from me.

Well, part of campaigns is showing people what to do in those first few missions.  But the result of past couple of years is unhappy new players, bored old players, and a really small MP base.  However, with the 'Throw them in the empty pool and see if they can fly' method has given rise to a very active modding community.

Hydra, you can only do so much with a 1 minute cutscene.

supcom had a good story i guess? not sure tho. and everybody likes a different story, so they can't please everyone

If I recall, Starcraft 1 had a fairly good campaign.

It's more than possible.

I really really hate comments like these. Most RTS campaign suck, I understand that, but you cant just act like a little child and be like "NOOS! THE DEVZELOPSERS SAYS DAT DER IS NOT GON TO BE CAMPAAAAYYN ENDZ OF DA STORYEYZ! CAMPAYNZ IZ DUMB!"

I do the Sins USB drive thing because according to the copyright, you can only install Sins on one computer.  So I circumvent that rule by installing sins on the computer, and putting the essential files on a USB drive, the files are still only on one computer (technically).

So... you wanna be a good boy and do whats yer supposed to do is that right? Aww thats so cute /sarcasm.

The developers should ask themselves: "Will cost of making a campaign be worth it?"

It will never reduce sales of the game, it can only increase sales by... 10% maybe 20%?

I don't personally care about it. I will spend most of the time smashing my friend online :D

Man, what's wrong with you? I'm just stating the fact that the developers are not doing a campaign for Rebellion. It has nothing to do with maturity levels (which you seem to be lacking in). So many of your posts seem to be made for the sole purpose of insulting others.

And I never said I'm against a campaign - in fact, I think it would be a great way to guide newer players along the more basic elements of strategy. It's just that the developers are certainly not implementing a campaign for Rebellion, as they've repeated many times.

To be honest, I dont think a campaign in Rebellion would make since. After all, they have't done it in Orginal, Diplomacy or Entrenchment... Not sure why people would think there would be one in Rebellion.

That being said however, I would love to see a campaign in Sins 2, to introduce the new threat to the Galaxy (i.e. that race that has been chasing around the Vasari.) And unless they try to say that somehow, Vasari tech has finally caught up to the mysterious enemy (and the TEC and Advent as well) I dont see how they could be made a playable race (these are the guys that wiped out the entire Dark Fleet afterall). However, they'd make a great campaign adversary.
