Anyone interested in a Dominions 3 Newb game?**Running**

I have seen this discussed here a few times, and purchased it recently. I think some others might as well. If there is enough interest, I could start a PBEM game on llamaserver. Info on llamaserver can be found here.

Newbie--5 or fewer MP games. Can be adjusted if needed if there is not enough interest.

Edit:

Oops, just saw the current turn.  Apparently Hinnom sent their armies out to meet me on the field and I had left.  Well, that's a mistake I intend to correct.  Let's see what happens.  Epic fight might happen any moment now.

The Kohinim Council announces with great relief that the combined army of the Rakshasa invaders was defeated in the second battle of Binophe - formerly a lush coast province full of cheerful fishermen and farmers, now turned into smoldering ruins and blighted ash fields. The Hinom forces were led by the mighty Henan'el himself, whose presence on the field proved decisive. However, as the battle progressed, he became enveloped by our own troops and spent a few rounds without contact with the enemy. Due to this unfortunate tactical incident, our elite guard proved no match for the Rakshasa demons in their unholy battle trance. Our regular forces were slowly pushed back, routed, and scattered around the neighboring provinces, with majority of them dead.

However, when the regulars routed, Henan'els rage burned once again anew. Resembling the Grigori Masters of the old, he waded through the battlefield like the Death himself, and where his Champion trident stroke, only lifeless bodies remained. The demons quickly fled the field, pursued by our raging General, who managed to slay two foul enemy warlocks who could not run fast enough.

It was a costly victory, but victory nonetheless - a ray of hope for our troubled and ravaged kingdom.

Okay, one thing to say here.  Hanan'el be a tough little cookie.  Wow.

Okay, here's is what my army is dealing with here for all those not in the know.

Hanan'el

 edit:

That heroic ability of his is the heroic endurance, which is actually pretty good for a combatant like him since he won't rack up much fatigue over the long haul.

Yep, that's my boy. You have your hairy, squeaking demons, I got this guy. I sincerely hope you will get to meet his father Azazel, he is even more charming fella.

You definitely do not want to see what he has behind that shield.

Luckily, his cousin Malthus does not have a shield ;-)

You like making me blush?   So, what are the stats on this "malthus?"

(Disclaimer:  not so subtle attempt to get you to reveal stats so the other players will be better prepared to meet him on the field of battle.)

Happy to oblige

News of the defeat at Binophe brought forth a wave of outcry and dread.  Hanan'el, Bane of Lanka, routed the invading Lankan army.  Hanan'el's name has achieved near mythical status at the Monkey City.  Mothers tell their little monkey children that Hanan'el will eat them in their sleep if they do not behave.  Panic sweeps through the land as fears emerge of Hanan'el, an army unto himself, making his way through the lands of the monkey demons, devouring all in his wake.  More demon troops are called to the front lines, but will they be able to stop a being of such divine power?

With all due respect, I think we probably shouldn't be posting stats like this. I'm not really much of a role-player -- at least where this particular game is concerned -- but posting stats sort of removes a lot of the magic under the hood for me, if that makes sense. I'd rather read his stats when/if I enter battle with him. More challenging, realistic and fair that way.

I dunno, if no one else has a problem with it, go for it I guess.

Thoughts?

I guess I could post it as a link, rather than link the image directly.  That way, those who aren't playing the game or have been knocked out can see, and if you'd rather be surprised, you could choose not to click (I could post a warning).

Wouldn't be making common use of it anyways, it's just that the bugger practically soloed my army (to be fair, he had a lot of meat shields with him), and I guess the posting was also a veiled: "OMG, look at this guy.  He's going to eat me!" kind of thing.

All he needs now is a ring of regeneration, and, well, off to the drawing board.

Regarding Magic Duel, no astral mages on my side unfortunately.

Yeah, magic duel, horror marks, curses, lots of horrible spells out there, but fortunately, monkey king Louis is a true macho and thinks magic is for pansies, so it's strictly brutal force versus even more brutal force.

And in such (ladies will forgive) "d*ck measuring contest", Hanan'el always has a few extra inches to beat ;-)

Well, i think the stat posting does not fit the roleplaying well (It's okay IMO to write: "His might alone could move whole mountains", and it's not very elegant to write: "His strength is 26"). But I understand that the poor monkeys want to give my potential enemies as much intel as possible - the true legacy of Yomi resistance.

Ad boasting contest - it's true that not only Hanan'el won the battle practically all by himself, but in the end, he did not have a single scratch, and his fatigue was 2. Birch boots are wonderful for what they cost!

But despite all this wonderful might, due to the fact that Dominions3 uses open d6 rolls, he can still die to a single, albeit very, very lucky blow.

Not just the boots though.  I don't imagine Hanan'el is going to be removed from the Hall of Fame anytime soon, and his ability is to get more and more reinvigoration.

I'll try to keep descriptions in a more role playing fashion by describing the items held by the enemy (or at least their appearance) and results from the effects.

So in that spirit:

The Bane of Lanka was truly a beast to behold.  Every strike our brave demons made would be artfully dodged by that surprisingly nimble giant.  Even hits that would look certain to land would some how, if almost by some supernatural degree of luck, miss.  He wore armor as dark as night, which looked very difficult to penetrate.  And despite all this, he never tired, always maintaining a constant state of vigor.  He radiated an aura of fear that truly tested the hearts of our warriors, and in the end they could be tested no longer and upon seeing the fruitlessness of their attacks, and the piles of their fallen warriors, broke off to flee.

Truly is this an entity to be feared.

It's a shame you can't see the private messages. Some serious diplomacy goes on outside of prying eyes.

The remnants of the Lankan army sent south have been completely annihilated.  The Bane of Lanka and his posse (Malthus shown above, two Melquarts, his prophet Eren,  and a Kohen) have launched a counter attack on the Lankan staging grounds of the Dead Marshes.  The Lankan invasion of Hinnom has been thwarted.

Things are so much more spicy in the western part of the world.

Over in the East Marverni and I are bludgeoning each other.  Or rather, failing to bludgeon each other.  He has an army of elephants that has been opportunistically taking provinces reinforced only with province defense, while my pretender and prophet have been doing the same in the other direction.  Neither is willing to take the plunge into headlong warfare with the other, it seems.  Or we just keep missing each other...

Eventually one or the other of us will punch through, pushing the battle back to one of our two capitals.  But that's looking like it could be many seasons from now.

Maybe Arcoscephale will roll over you both before that happens ;-)

Heh, that's entirely possible.  Though Abysia is confident that Arcoscephale means us no ill for the time being.  We suspect that, despite our involvement in another war, the Son of Themistocles knows that defeating us would be costly indeed.  Moreover, an attack would force us to reposition some of our demonic assassins, an eventuality no nation should desire.

Of course Arco means you no harm for the time being, since he is focused on research and by going to war, he would have to reallocate resources. But in the end, there can be only one ultimate winner, and once Arco's superior research provides powerful spell that will shake the world, it will be already too late. Once again, I would advise Abysia and Marverni to forget their unproductive hatred and plan action against the most powerful nation that threaten us all - Arcoscephale.

Well if you were expecting those reinforcement from your capital, don't bother I appear to have stepped on them .
