Elemental: Sword of Ambrose

For those of you who have the book, Elemental: Destiny's Embers you can soon download the first in a series of mini-campaigns that have been produced via a collaboration of Stardock and Random House.

The campaign is heavily story-driven and written by Dave Stern who I worked with during the writing of the novel.

The story takes place prior to Elemental: Destiny’s Embers and recounts the early days Lord Ambrose when he was a young adventurer.

The release date hasn’t been set but the plan is to release several of these mini-campaigns to readers of Destiny’s Embers. The first one will require War of Magic v1.3 or later (we’ve been making changes to the game to expand what we can do in the campaigns, that’s why we haven’t released these sooner).

Neat, I got the book on order at Barns and Noble, hopefully these mini-campaigns will be more fleshed out and challenging then the current one that comes with the game.

Awesome!   Really looking forward to it.  Any chance on another novel?

This is welcome news. I thought the book was surprisingly good, but the real reason I bought it was for bonus content.

This is great, and I'm curious if we will get another book as well? (I'd like another one even if it doesn't come with more DLC)

I've been asked to start working on one. But the first one was an incredible amount of effort. I have huge respect for writers, especially after the experience of writing the first one.  I'm pretty happy with how the book came out and would like to see the rest of the story told. I just have to see if there's going to be time in the future to do it.

Thanks. Yea, personally the book's launch was both exciting and devastating. Exciting in the sense of having something I had worked on for so long being out there. But a little devastating that a handful of people from QuarterToThree decided to express their dislike for me personally on the Amazon.com reviews pages (long story short, there's a political debate area there and those who disagree with my political views decided to get their pound of flesh by "reviewing" my book -- Internet drama).

Well I really really liked the book, and so did my girlfriend, and we both wanted to see another one coming, very curious how it will continue :p

The new bonus mini-campaign is awesome news, love you guys for keeping your word and for doing all this stuff for us :)

Haven't read the debate on Amazon, but what do political views have to do with a book or game? Unless you run your company like a dictator, why would politics come into any discussion? Eh. I've worked for people across the political spectrum and never found it to be an issue when doing business. People are weird in their reviews. That is the flaw with the review system of many sites. You can have a group a reviews that have nothing to do with the product and they bring you down. ..Just my 2 cents.

Politics are a dirty game and like religion, should not be discussed around the dinner table, unless you like to eat crap. That being said "The nail that stands tallest, gets hammered down first" Old Chinese Proverb. I liked the book and didn't find any political allegory in it, I hope there wasn't one implied. But stand by your believes should you really feel that strongly about them, just be prepared. You may find yourself fighting lions with a twig should the society turn against you!!

I am looking forward to the new DLC and continue to hold hope for this game!!

In "real life" I'm not political at all. But online I tend to debate as a libertarian which, if you're far enough to one side or the other makes me either a fascist or a hippy depending on your point of view.  Debating politics (for me anyway) is like playing an RTS. I just enjoy debating. What I didn't realize is just how serious some people take these things. I.e. they get really really upset if you don't share their world view.

But obviously it is annoying having people say the book is "horribly written" when it's obvious they didn't read it. I won't claim to be a world class writer by any means. But I consume books as a passion and feel pretty comfortable with the relative quality of Destiny's Embers.

The book itself has no politics in it at all. I read fiction to escape from the "real world" not to be preached to. :)

Very nice! Thank you! Enjoyed the book and glad to see more dlc from it too!

Here here, cheers to that! I've been looking for a good book to read and after playing E:WOM it got me back into it. Seems like it will be a good one when I pick up the book. Might reinvigorate my mind and get me writing and finishing my own book. Got side tracked with RL and all... (novel should haven been done about 4 years ago lol)

So, what's the process for "proving" that we purchased a copy of the book?  I got it on my Nook way back when it came out.

I didn't mean to sound like a preacher, but thanks!! I also enjoy a good debate and a game of Chess while doing so!!

As a snooty, sometimes-pretentious reader of a great many books, I can definitely say that Destiny's Embers is not poorly written.  It is, as you admit, not Pulitzer material, but it's not trying to be.  I found it much better reading than a lot of scifi, fantasy, and popular fiction.  I guess the best praise I can give it is this: the writing is good enough that it doesn't disrupt what I found to be a very entertaining story.

I, for one, would love to read the sequel.

I hope it will not be so buggy and barren as the original campaign. I have tried it three times and I have not been able to finish it, because of bugs.

I enjoyed the original campaign.  It didn't have a whole lot of depth, but it served its purpose, which in my mind was to act as a tutorial to introduce newbies to the game. I liked how it gradually introduced game concepts one at a time and gave the player a chance to try them out.  But I was disappointed by the shortness of the campaign. When it ended, I was thinking "really? that's it, there's nothing else?". But like I said, it made a good tutorial and I'm glad I played it before trying sandbox mode.

I haven't read Destiny's Embers yet, but now my curiosity is piqued so I might go out and buy it. I hope there is a Kindle edition!

Your Nook order number works.

I can't say as I didn't play the original campaign.

This one is dramatically different because it involves building up ala a sand box game but with a series of adventures, quests, and events.

I liked the story, hope you can write another book. Looking forward to this campagn.

And what about us , who can't buy the book ?  When will we get these mini-campaigns ?

Stardock doesn't own this content, Random House does.  So you will probably never get it if you can't get the book.

I'm pretty sure everyone else would get it 6 months after release.
