I'm probably really late into the conversation here, but I figure I'll give my two cents just for the heck of it.

I'm one of those crazy individuals who rather enjoys the Clone Wars era, especially when it comes to RTS games. I've always had issues with the Galactic Civil War era being used for RTS due to the fact that the Rebellion just didn't have the resources to field an army to combat the Empire, thus they're more suited to other styles of games rather than RTS, unless they're able to exploit their smaller numbers in his and run tactics, which isn't often the case.

Anyway, to the point! While you've said earlier that there's no work being done on a Clone Wars era for Requiem, has anyone considered starting a project to do so? My knowledge of modding is non-existent, so I'll be of little help without aid from others, but I'd be willing to give it a go and see about helping add the Republic and CIS options to Requiem, or have it be a sister-mod sort of deal, as having 7 races might break the system from what I've heard?

I'll state that I don't really expect much of a response since my abilities are severely limited, but I'm willing to try what can be done, so if anyone wants to get together and start out the most basic stages, such as working out a unit list, then perhaps we might see something done?

Try this mod:

https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/331584/page/67/#replies

Its for Entrenchment, I was able to get it to work on the latest version. It dose tend to mini dump however. But atleast you will have CIS, Republic, Rebels, and Empire to play with.

There are a few problems with that Mod, though I wont deny it is a very nice mod. One of the biggest issues, at least for me, is the ship speed. They're trying to make it more "realistic" to the star wars universe.

What I'm looking for is exactly what Requiem has done. Balance the CIS and Republic against the original three races and have them function similarly.

Well you are certainly right that Sins isn't the game for the sort of raid tactics and espionage the Rebels used most of the time, I wouldn't say they couldn't field a fleet that couldn't compete with the Empire's. I'm mainly basing their tactics of the Battle of Endor, which they did manage to take out several Star Destroyers and the Executor and is perfectly suited for an RTS game. Also with Rebellion I hope to give the player the option to move more into the New Republic era, where they certainly did have fleets to go toe to toe with the Empire. But anyways, to your main point.

To my knowledge, I don't think anyone has gotten started on it, though by all means anyone can try to start it if they wish. I won' be able to help too much as I've got my plate full with finishing the polish with the Rebels/Empire and then the Rebellion port, but I can tell how you could design it to be a separate mod that is still fully compatible with Requiem, so that way you can have all 7 races if it works or just use the clone wars races if it doesn't.

Any help would be highly appreciated. As I've said before I have really no knowledge of modding except a desire to learn and try my hand at it, so any advice, tips, what have you, would be more than welcome. As would help and/or support from anyone else who would like to give a shot at seeing a Clone Wars mod balanced around the stock game.

*Addendum*

Also a quick question about Requiem itself. Recently my friend and I downloaded and installed the mod into our Diplomacy folders and tried to run the game, and it claims that we don't have the same version. We ensured the Checksum was correct, tried to connect without the mod and things worked fine, and we both tried out the mod single player and it seemed to work fine as well. The only possible reason we could think of is because he owns Trinity and I only own Diplomacy (plus the original bundle pack of Sins + Entrenchment).

Is there something we're overlooking? Any advice would be appreciated here as well. :)

Well first you'll want to get comfortable with manipulating the various .entity files, so practice on either the Vanilla game or Requiem. Once you can manipulate them competently you will be of some use to any modding team. myfist's modding site has a lot of helpful pages, and you can find lots of tutorials in this modding forum, though pay attention to the dates, as some stuff has changed particularly between expansions.

Someone posted on our forums with what sounds like the same problem, and we were really puzzled by it too. The easiest thing to do would be to directly copy on of your mod folders and give it to the other one, that way you are working with the same files (regardless of what the checksum says). If that doesn't work then try seeing if you can play an ICO match with each other (no mods), because there is an issue where some outdated meshes can cause this problem, and it will explicitly tell you if its a mesh problem on ICO. Also, make sure you are both using either 1.2 or 1.21, as Requiem 3.31 will work with both.

Earlier we did try a direct copy and paste from my client to his, and apparently it caused his client to crash and his checksum to be different, but we can try the reverse and see if I experience the same issues. As for ICO, we'll try and see if that works!

I have been playing around with mods a bit, just tried out Sins of the Fallen and that works out fine. Now I'd like to get this one running, but does it only run with Diplomacy 1.2 specifically? Or does that inclueded 1.21 as well?

All mods that work with 1.2 should work with 1.21, it was a very minor patch modding wise. So yes it will work with the most recent version, just make sure you get all the patches.

Yeah, those work! I mean the URL in the startpost: http://db.imperial.cc/show.cgi?id=sins&a=view&f=2&t=4

Ah okay thanks, I'll fix those when I get a chance. :)

Just read the current progress thread on your forums and seems you have things well in hand, love the new stuff. Especially looking forward to new research trees, but was alot more goodies there. I noticed several "if time" comments, seeing time matters, do you have an idea for when 3.4 should be done perhaps? :D

Well everything in the completed section is already going to happen no matter what, but 3.4 might have to be released ahead of schedule thanks to the Diplomacy 1.3 update that is supposed to come out Tuesday. Since I'm assuming something this one will probably break mods somehow (unlike 1.21), my deadline has effectively become the following Monday, as I don't want you guys to wait any more than a week for a playable version.

Most likely this will mean the Defense/Diplomacy trees will have to wait for another patch, and the number of new ability/research icons will be far less than I hoped, so there might still be a lot of Vanilla icons for the new research trees. Its still a very major patch however, with perhaps the biggest gameplay changes since 3.0.

Damm i was hoping to get to play with the new defense/diplomacy trees, but good news on the early release though. There is always the next patch for what we misses out on now. :)

I have tried both Empire and Rebels now, and I totally love it! I'm a fan of Star Wars, and just looking at the ship models and hearing the classic music feels great. I also love how battles take longer in this mod, as ships have more health/shields.

I have one problem. The portraits are damaged. Sometimes I don't see a portrait, sometimes I see two portraits overlapping each other. What can I do about this?

Which portraits are you talking about specifically? I have noticed this sometimes with the loading screens when playing in the developer.exe or in windowed mode, so if you were using either one of those modes that might be why.

I'm talking about the Faction portraits, when viewing for instance the Diplomacy window. The large ones. The small ones when you get an update in the bottom left, are usually wrong as well. For instance I see a picture of Leia when I get a mission from the Hutts.
