Ugly text on searchbox.....How to 86 it?

This showed up after the latest windows update (the text "Search programs and files")

Anyone know how to get rid of it?

Seeing the text on my Windows 7 64 bit system.

Grab some electrical tape, cut off a small strip, Place over offending image and press firmly.

That works great on a VCR but not so well on a PC. :X

I know this is gonna sound strange but if its 'just now' showing up on some systems maybe a scan for bugs is in order. You may have done it already but if not .... won't hurt.

It's not a virus bug or anything like that Uvah, it is from an update from Microsoft.  Why they chose to add it I have no idea, or maybe it was supposed to be there all the time and they fixed the issue.  Either way, it's really no big deal. I have Windows 7 32 and 64-bit, and it occurs on both machines.

Strangely enough, Tom when I applied your skin Anon, the font size was smaller. I would really like to know what setting is controlling the text size and font *_*

Tim I have a thought, did you upgrade from vista rather than a clean install?

FYI I updated from Vista, have all updates installed and still do not see that text. I thought SP1 might bring it on but it did not.:meow:

Well so much for that thought. I had upgraded from vista and then did a reformat to win7 later. there were a sufficient number of differences to be noticed.

me to, seems I was also spared, it's a mystery.

That's why I suggested a bug. I have all the latest updates and no text there on any skin.

it's a mystery.

Hmmmmmm. must force the text but do it using one of the font sizes set in the skin, weird. o_O

It should also be noted besides the size change that some text is regular and some is Italic. This depends on the skin you are using. Just change and try some and you will see the difference. Look at the standard Microsoft skin. Windowblinds may not be causing this but somewhere in SS people are changing the size, etc. I just don't nkow anything about SS to try things. I did notice one other thing with different skins. Some or at least it appears have changed the text color to the color of the search box and then you can't really see the text. Looking at others maybe some are just changing the serch box color and its much harder to see the text. It's not a big deal but funny how somw have it such as me and some don't when we all keep out machines UTD.

Nope. This machine came with Win7 installed

If its not a bug .... how about different builds? Some of us may not have the same build and or version of Win7. Try to compare. Maybe. A suggestion.

:maybe:

Windows 7 Home Premium on an Asus laptop here

Windows 7 Pro 32-bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit here.

It could also be that it does not do it on OEM versions of Windows 7.  Those versions of Windows 7 taylored specifically for a manufacturer, like Dell, HP, etc.

windows7 home premium 64bit, sp1, NO text

Okay so lets eliminate for the moment OEM versions. What build numbers do the affected versions have?

Windows 7 64 bit here. I have it too, got it with the MS update.

Jim, is yours an OEM version?

for some reason it skipped me. are you all operating multiple OS's?

Here's mine. Win7 x64 build 7601 SP1

I am using W7 32 bit SP1 and have it

It also appears in the search box for windows explorer.

EG: if you have libraries opened it will say search libraries or if you have documents opened it will say search documents. Same for Music, pictures etc;

Cheers
