Space Mines and More

As Brad and Brian mentioned, Ironclad and Stardock have a fair bit of new stuff coming for Sins in the way of updates, patches and so forth.

One area of concern is the memory and CPU eaten up by Space Mines. I'd like to hear some suggestions on how we can keep mines in the game without consuming so many resources (and if we can make them more fun that'd be great too). Keep in mind that they need to be racially distinct.

If you have any ideas, let me know in this thread and we'll see what can be done.

You better not join the military then.  You can make full sentences with them without batting an eye.

Wait...I was in the military.  I was a military intelligence specialist.  Is this bad?

or move to california. Nobody calls anything by their name there. It's all acronyms.

With the exception of one place I saw when I was there. It had the most specific, full name I have ever seen for a buisness:

The Interior Door Replacement Company.

Want to add a new exterior door? Don't call these guys.

Well, if you never realized what all those time zone abbreviation meant, yes. Good thing you weren't a logistics officer...

*Orders*

Deliver these 57mm rounds to <Censored> army base in California by 09:00 EST.

Sniperium: Oh, its only a two hour drive away from here, I'll sleep in until 6 a.m.

*On a battlefield sometime later*

General: All units, fire at will! ... Why aren't we firing?

Just being able to turn them off would be great.  A no-mines game would be faster in late game, no annoying cleanup, and Advent AI wouldn't be gimped running around with 95% of their SC as mines in their battle fleets.
