Hot female battle gear

Hot female battle gear

Not the highest priority but it would be nice. Gear in general is pretty bland and having girls in armor that don't look just like the men in armor adds some flavor.

I wasn't talking about L5R, I was talking about how the anime culture has influenced video games these days to further objectify sexuality. Pick up any such game (Final Fantasy) and you will find that NO female characters wear anything resembling armor (or sometimes even decent clothing). Or any male characrters for that matter. O_o

But plate? If you're a front line melee unit who is going to get pounded, you probably want armor that actually functions like armor. You can make armor that both looks good AND looks like something that could plausably work. So no chainmail bikinis. Please.
Is this a good time to point out that the existing male plate armour looks absurdly unrealistic as things already stand?

SD has never marketed the game as a realistic medieval wargame. What I want is for my units to look cool. Beyond that I want to have varying styles of armour so that my army is not just one homogenous entity.

I don't want nude characters or bikinis. You can have topless 6-pack men - but not women. So fortunately for SD_Zebrafox and anyone who prefers looking at men, it has happened. Ever. Already.

I'm talking about plate armour, and anyone that has ever seen much of it can tell you that historically there is a ton of evidence for decoration and embellishment. Either to enhance the prestige of the wearer or to give a more imposing appearance. Japanese armour is a good example of this actually, so is Roman armour.

There is nothing wrong with the shape of a woman's body! This forum seems to have an unnatural number of 13 year old sheltered-youth christian boys who are afraid to get their wrist slapped and a lecture on onanism when mommy catches them playing dirty games.

I'm sure this has all started due to that elf queen from Aow2:SM (Julia?) who had the hypnotic swirly nipples. I agree that was stupid.

PS: I really don't think that L5R was much influenced by anime, but if you just don't like the style then fair enough. It's not the Japanese's fault though.

I'm not sure why you quoted me since you seem to be replying to somebody else. I said "both looks good AND looks like something that could plausably work. So no chainmail bikinis". I don't know how you got from that that I don't want varying styles of armor, armor that has to be fully realistic, or that I'm a 13 year old chiristan. In fact I'm a 30 year old atheist and I just find shameless pandering like chainmail bikinis to be stupid. Armor can look cool AND look like something that might concievably actually function at the same time. Chainmail bikinis do not.

Tridus - only the first couple of lines of what I wrote was related to what you said, and I wasn't really disagreeing with you. Actually, I think we agree.

The rest of my comments were generally directed at the more zealous sections. Sorry for the confusion.

I should use line breaks more maybe?

What?  I'll have to check that out, lol.

However it goes back further than computer games.

landisaurus - well Gandolf was a frail old man with no armor and he defeats that bad ass demon so in a world or magic why couldn't plate mail gstrings grant the same protection?

I wasn't saying it shouldn't.  Just that its funny.  I believe that it was surge72 who had something to say about it. (I would like to point out that Gandolf kinda died, so that seems to me a bad example...)

Chainmail jock straps?  I think this picture was meant for you.

I don't.... because if it was meant for me my work wouldn't block that website :D   (Though, I guess that's folly logic since my work blocks 90% of gaming sites I visit).    I would say I'm going to go home and click on that link, but I'm a little leery where you're going with that jock strap thing.

I hope it is going to the unlockable thong outfits you can get in Neo Contra.  (nothing like 2 huge muscular men wielding heavy firearms and explosives in less than 3 square feet of cloth as armor.  I don't even think they are wearing boots as they surf on torpedoes and stand on the surface of a ship while it starts burning up in atmosphere.)

edit:  YES!!    not for me though, for stardock.    THAT ARMOR! is exactly what I'm talking about.  (he-man also is a good example)

Looking for chainmail bikinis are we?Chainmail bikinis are so meh. Chainmail microbikinis on the other hand... Come on, I'm sure that Raven would love it.

Thank God I wasn't drinking anything, otherwise I would have sprayed my monitor with a spit spray. That was good.

Alright, putting it better would be saying look at what the Japanese anime culture has done to the gaming industry, which was what I attempting to say.

Much better said

I'm glad Elemental lacks women in armor bikinis and hope not to see any; they're silly. Stylish armor for women, on the other hand is a worthwhile goal, although a very, very, very low priority behind all the other things the worthy SD folks could spend time on.

I believe in equal opportunity so men have to have plate thongs and nipple tassles too.

Male Nipple Tassles as per your request.  Sure you don't want to reconsider that request now?

(I hope that Google doesn't start modifying my search results after that search... people that searched for "male nipple tassles" also searched for...)

I must admit, it would add a little more flair to the game and uniqueness to women. I don't quite understand why (other then the programming prospective... which is easier) there is opposition to including this in games. Mount and Blade is the same way.

Also, it shouldn't matter what type of a fantasy game this is... or if it's a fantasy game at all.

Man, have you played Mafia 2 yet? You get to run around and collect hidden "Playboys" with naked chicks in them. Lots of tits in the game. Very awesome :).

...and before anyone goes thinking I'm a sexist pig for liking tits in a video game....ok, yeah, I am a sexist pig who likes tits in his video games, so sue me :P

I think I've found an idea for a new series of quests. |-)

Now if only we could take control of our male offspring then the immersion factor would be that much greater.

wiki of joan of arc has several examples of what the armor should look like.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_of_Arc

I like that.

I'm still trying to figure out how wanting armor that conforms more to the shape of women (instead of everyone being a big block of flesh - forget breasts, where's the hips - or would "realistic armor not have hips either?) to "OMG I WANT SEXORZ WIMMENZ NAO!!111!!!1" Don't see where that leap took place.

And what does anime have to do with it?

I feel the same way.  I was mostly joking.  (though I'm serious about equally revealing clothing for males and females if they DO go that route.  except females are unfairly censored above the waists where men are not, so I expect men to wear less)

As long as it includes extra nipple protection as seen in these Darkfall Ork armor pics (we've got to think of the starving babies)

Ah, these kind of threads (usually on MMO forums) never cease to amaze me - just look how big they get. People REALLY care about image. Personally I tend to treat most games as fashion shows. Males and females are generally exagurated and sexualised (confidence being the main part of that) in their own gender specific ways. Males who have no real 'sexuality' (it was taken from them at somepoint I guess) have their strength and size instead. Females have thier curves. Thus sexy curvy females and big heavily armoured males. Size is important for defining the male 'sexuality'. I certainly don't fit that picture as a male (unfortunatly).

I would love to have both options avalible to both genders but when artists time is at a premium you have to take what you can afford so it usualy ends up just being the traditional exagurated stereotypes. I got bored of the big hulking males a long time ago (In Age of Conan I wanted nothing more than to run around on my Bear Shaman with nothing but a loin cloth or kilt on because it would really suit the character).

I also love it when people have the stones to really go to an extream (like TERA's castanic female armours - so well designed, amazing heels in every set with super detailed textures. Oh and lots and lots of skin or skin-tight material. Love it. The game probably sucks though.)
