I started a new WB skin...looking for some input.

I plan on making 2 substyles, one that is "infected" and one that is "immune" -- the screenshot below is infected (creepy font, bitten start panel, eyeball expander, green edit controls).  My intent is that the immune version will have normal font, plain start panel, and light grey/white edit controls, for more of a utilitarian, everyday skin.

Let me know what you think -- good, bad, etc.

Thanks.

I'd call it Elegant Outbreak instead. The lines are great, it's smooth and easy on the eyes and very tasteful.

I'm generally not fond of green skins, but I can see this project working very well... the subject material (zombies) and green seem perfect for each other.

I'm thinking I'd like it a little more macabre, though...with a decaying flesh start panel, detached, bloodshot eyeballs here and there peering mindlessly from behind tombstones, and a couple of voodoo dolls impaled with large hat pins, etc.  Yeah, I know, I'm a warped individual, but somebody has to do it.

Seriously, Karen, I'm sure you'll do a marvelous job and we'll be seeing a top class WB. :sun:

^ What they said...I've never seen a 'bad' skin by you. The green is very easy on the eyes, btw. Might need some chewed upon skulls (shudder) as buttons... But I see this becoming a major Halloween skin, Missy!

Start Button animation? What else? The forearm just like the wall coming up 'out of the ground'!

:)

My thoughts as well.

Looks good so far Karen! And yeah...what the guys said about little more macabre. When I hear zombie I'm thinking decayed flesh oozing puss and blood and... :puke: Oh sorry...anyway...what the guys said!

As it is now it looks great as well. I know! Call it....Before the Outbreak! :) Then throw some decayed flesh all over it!

Thanks guys; I'll work on getting the start panel to rot. :)

Ah, you're a treasure to be sure Karen, a treasure to be sure.  I'm really looking forward to this one.

What would be great to help enhance the theme would be if Carguy or Ausvet or someone created a Dream of a graveyard with corpses menacingly emerging from the ground.   Any takers?

Hehe, my imagination is running wild here.  I'm picturing a music box that looks like a grave, but instead of the usual fairy popping up to some twinkly fairy-like music, there's a zombie emerging to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'.

If only I were in manufacturing. |-O

You are, mate....in the atmospheric sense, that is. ;)

Though it's nightmares rather than dreams I'm creating. :puke:

I can see the start button animation like they said. Then there's the inevitable DX theme...the gadgets oozing all over the desktop and with the eerie sounds I'm sure someone can create for sound packager. Icons...cursors and all that. What a splendid suite it would make and just in time for Halloween. Ooohhh......it's giving me goosebumples already. Sweet skin K10w3.

You have an excellent start  and I have to agree with everyone else, this will make one heck of a suite.

A sound packager would be great with this one.

I agree. Karen certainly knows how to put together one of those... I still use Zen.

Karen... we'd need something truly 'crunchy', screamy and groany for this one. After all, that was Zen, but this is ow!

I've been playing around with ideas for getting the skin to rot without looking messy and unusable.  This still needs to be refined, but this is what I have for the start panel so far.  Let me know you're opinions on which direction I should go (more, less, totally different?)

I like that! I still would love to see the arm and hand come out of the 'ground' as a start button animation...could come out of the biohazard too...

If I can pull it off, I'd like to have wiggling maggots for the start menu animation.  I fear my exercise program is going to suffer in the coming weeks. :S

Great start, Karen.   Maggots would be awesome!

Maggots beat hand! Love the idea of maggots! Yum!

WOW. I like the maggots idea 5*  We should have maggots animation on window frames as well.  And I also like the shut down button but I don't know about the min/max/close buttons. They don't seem to fit there.

I don't think Windowblinds supports animation on window frames.  It be a great idea, though.

I've been thinking about that, and you're absolutely right.  I'm playing around with an idea of a little skull, and the mouseover effect would be that his eyes pop open.  What do you think?  Keep going in this direction or scrap it?

By the way...also now that I've got this maggot idea going, I'm sitting around having to think about how maggots move, looking up videos on maggot videos on YouTube to figure out how the light reflects on maggots.  This is a weird thing to be obsessing about.

No weirder than Zombies...lol. Hi Karen. Maggots and Zombies go hand in.......well,they go together.

The skull looks a bit cute with the eyes. Maybe blood shot or dare I say it "with maggots coming out"

A skull with a few cracks in it?

Glowing eyes?
