Zombie Outbreak - completed

I started a new WB skin...looking for some input.

I plan on making 2 substyles, one that is "infected" and one that is "immune" -- the screenshot below is infected (creepy font, bitten start panel, eyeball expander, green edit controls).  My intent is that the immune version will have normal font, plain start panel, and light grey/white edit controls, for more of a utilitarian, everyday skin.

Let me know what you think -- good, bad, etc.

Thanks.

At work we refer to them as dancing rice....... ;)

Infected start button, normal state.  I'm not going to give away the surprise and tell you what it does on mouse over or pressed, but I'll let you know I'm VERY pleased with this.

Two things:

  1. I really like the way this is going
  2. You are mixuign metaphors.  Zombies and skelotens rarely go together. x_x
    • Zoombas and skelotens do though.   :zoomba:

Also.... typing and Zubazes don't go together.

I'm not just toying with the genre of the living dead, here. :P   Thirty percent of the movies in my DVD collection are zombie movies.  In "The Return of the Living Dead," the protagonists are trapped in a funeral home and when the toxic gas turns into rain, everything in the cemetery starts coming to life, INCLUDING the deceased who have been in the ground long enough to become skeletons.

Watch the trailer and see for yourself -- at 0.23 seconds into the trailer...there's my proof!  Check it out! http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi1684538649/

I've attempted to put animated maggots on the titlebar, and it's just too much; all that wiggling makes it rather nonfunctional.  I know the infected version of this blind is definitely in the NOT tasteful category, (reference the LESS IS MORE - Themers pls get good Taste" thread), but between the open, infected wound and the blood splatter, while still trying to keep the text readable, and the window shrinkable, (shrink the window, and the maggots wiggle off the window, out into the margin, cut in half, still moving...perhaps the maggots, too, are zombies?), it just wasn't working.

I did see that the Agua blind has animated titlebars and still works with WB7!!!

I know it's possible, as I did get the maggots to wiggle on the titlebar, it's just too complicated of a graphic, added with everything else that's going on there, to make it look right.  I may still animate the uninfected version (not with maggots, though), since it's going to look pretty sparse compared to the infected version, and I know I would be able to resist trying to give it more pizazz.

I need opinions.  I changed the start button so it was more zombie-ish, rather than skeleton, and added some infected sores, a blood splatter and a big nasty vein on the titlebars  Should I keep the zombie button, go back to the skeleton button, lose the infection?  What do you think?

I like everything except the head.  "Why?" you ask?  The eyes are very cartoony and the madible position looks like a smile . .and not a "I'm about to eat you smile".

In other news I saw the following and thought of this skin: http://freakingaweso.me/zombies.php

Well, that's the pressed state.  The normal state looks like this:

Still kinda smiley, but when you mouse over, his eyes show up and he starts moving his jaw up and down (like he's biting).

Karen, What do you think of a coffin for the 'close' button, but I'm stuck for the min/max.... whatcha got up your sleeve? :)

I'm not changing those buttons....I love them too much.  I know they aren't scary, gruesome, or horror filled, but inside the zombie infected is a real person, too, and sometimes that real person can be a lovely soul. (some of my favorite zombie movies depict that -- Return of the Living Dead 3, is one of the most romantic movies ever made).

The thing I'm going for here is there are 2 styles -- one is healthy, normal, resistant to the infection, and the other one is infected with zombie chemicals.  I need the infected version to still in some way resemble the resistant version, otherwise I'm making 2 different skins and that's not what I'm trying to do.

"Undead...and lovvin' it!"

I like that smile!

OK - I've played around with it for a little, and the smile will stay, but I've figured out how to incorporate a furrowed brow, thus giving him a more sinister look.

Thanks guys!

I'm having so much fun with this one, I'm thinking about making a series of "monster" blinds, the next one being a vampire one (dark, shiny, sleek), and maybe a werewolf one after that.

The series wouldn't be complete without a Frankenstein's monster one... sure hope that one's on the cards.

As for this one, well it is looking great and I can't wait to dress my desktop with it. :) :sun:
