Yes, that ego maniac of movies chickened out.  He likes to threaten people a lot (like shooting them down in the street and wanting to fight them), but when a challenge - BY HIM - to debate Global Warming was accepted by some skeptics, he first went through Orwellian contortions to change the rules (all changes were accepted) before pulling out at the very last minute!

It seems the blow hards (the real source of AGW) are good about denying all the access to the facts and information, and a good and honest debate.  I seem to recall that we do have a term for that.

Oh, yea - Super Chicken!  I think the "green" movement is dying like an un-watered lawn in summer.  They are turning yellow.

Just because he made a movie about the environment (Avatar), doesn't make him an expert. I know this guy has an opinion, and he's welcome to it, but just because he is famous doesn't give him a "credibility" pass. BTW Just how much diesel did he burn up in the Atlantic, filming the Titanic, to put some coin in his pocket?

Bu-Bu-but the ships were going there anyway! ;)

I know he is no expert, but he asked and was granted permission to have 2 climate scientists with him.  As it was, after the challenge was accepted, he kept changing the rules hoping the Skeptics would back out.  When they did not, he ran away from it with his tail tucked between his legs.

I notice the big media players aren't picking this up. Surprise, surprise.

Hey DG, you would have got a kick out of Hannity tonight. He had a special about the "green scam". Much of it was on global warming.

That would have been great!  Alas, we are dog sitting for the next 2 weeks and the first day was yesterday.  So I spent most of last night trying to figure out how to keep the knot head in the back yard, and then the rest walking him since he will not be kept in!  But he is house broken (and BIG - about 100 pounds), and does not cry or bark.  Of course the cats do not like him (even though he does not hate them).

I will see if I can find it on the Fox site.  But there is more yellow news too!  Seems Wiki is trying to repair its reputation after having it trashed by William Connolley.  He is the Alarmist that kept rewriting all the articles on the site removing any hint that there is a debate about it, and also rewriting the bios of the skeptics putting in slanderous accusations.  It wants the editors to vote of punishment for him.  Alas, their reputation is already trash, so why bother?  no one uses it who wants to be credible.

About the only thing I like Wiki for is the reference sources, I will use it movies and such, if I want to know more on trivial matters. I was busy when Hannity was on, but I caught snippets and it seemed  quite well put together. It follows the money trail. I would recommend it to everyone that believes their money on "green" products is really helping, then make up their mind for themselves.

Hypocrite?

References? Quotes? When costs of Hollywood elites whims are being discussed in congress, with potential impact on the taxpayer, who wouldn't care? It is nice to make it up as one goes along. Thanks for adding to the conversation. What exactly was it again?

I do not have to care about what they believe (as I do not really care about Ted Danson's prediction about the oceans in 10 years, made over 20 years ago), but I do find solace in the fact they do not have the courage of their (misguided) convictions.

Perhaps you live a very vanilla life with no spice in it.  I hope you enjoy it.  But whether he makes super boring movies (Titanic) or super expensive one (Avatar) is his business.  Whether he wants me to pay for his stupidity is my business.

If so, he seems to be at least writing more intelligently.  Very sarcastic (I like that), but at least cognizable.

The truth will become apparent soon enough. But I must say the silence seems to be telling. If LW were still here, she would have ferreted him out.

After I wrote my comment I had occasion to read more of his comments (probably the ones you read) and see a distinct similarity.  I guess time will indeed tell.  If it is Lucas, perhaps he has used the time well to at least grow up some.

However, his continued need to keep changing his nom de plume would indicate he has not (if it is him).

Go observe general conservative attitude whenever a hollywood celebrity says something political. There's a certain amount of, enimity, for lack of a better term.  Not saying it is absolute, but from as neutral an observation as I can manage. And it isn't an attack, far from it. I just fine it rather obnoxious and hypocritical.

Some do, some don't, but does it matter? I'm sure you could find just as many average joes who don't have the gumption to back up what they say. It's more a matter of personality, than class or clique.

No, my life isn't vanilla. It's more of a rocky road, or cookie dough. ;)

"Current" incarnation, as in some sort of made up personality and life story used to build up the short comings and flaws that I once detested? No.

But is it me, yes?

Would, if my motive for it was underhanded. Truth be told, I couldn't remember which email it was under, what the username was, what my password was, and so on. I was also a tad lazy. That said, don't get all cozy, I don't plan on being frequent here like I used to. I've got a (real) life to live.

And that just doesn't exist on the left, correct? What about the calls (from the loving left) to forfeit a life-time achievement award to Ernest Borgnine (93) for an opinion on homosexuality? Guess they are angry there wasn't a good hearty dose of ass slapping and tickle fights in Michale's Navy. I don't have a beef with James Cameron"s work. In fact I'm a big fan of Aliens and Avatar, but I really couldn't care less about his personal views. Why should his matter any more than yours or mine? Of course you preach pointing out hypocrisy as bad, until you do it yourself. Now that is hypocrisy in the finest sense of the word.

I've got a (real) life to live.

Well I hope your real life consists of a good job, paying lots of taxes, your president needs your help (whether you want to or not).

Re-read what I wrote.  I do not care about his movies - I can go see them or avoid them.  But when you start demanding money out of my pocket for your illusions, it IS MY business.  There is no "some do or some dont".  It does matter.

I'm sure you could find just as many average joes who don't have the gumption to back up what they say.

They do not make challenges and then chicken out.  If they do, and they are made on the scale Cameron made them (I guess he cannot do anything small scale), you do hear about them.

But is it me, yes?

No, if it was underhanded, you would be banned.  Juvenile is the thinking that somehow a new name gives you new authority, anonymity, perspective or intelligence.  It has been 4 years or so now.  It is time to quit playing the childish games and grow up.

To throw the lefty's words back onto themselves - how does Borgnine's opinion have any affect on you?  They are fast to whip out a slogan, but very slow to follow their own advice.

Well I hope your real life consists of a good job, paying lots of taxes, your president needs your help (whether you want to or not).

Bet you he is "1 in 6"g - a very up and coming minority.

Never said it doesn't exist on the left. I know full well it does, and give my two cents on it when it happens. If it's bullshit, it's bullshit. It doesn't matter to me who says it. Hell, I've been debating on another site for the last 8 or so months and I get blasted because I call it when I see it. Like I said, bullshit is bullshit is bullshit.

Maybe it's just me, but I always figured, if you don't care about something, you don't care about it. You don't say one thing, and then do another. But you know what, you're right on one thing. "Until you do it yourself." We all point out the hypocrisy of the other guys, until we get  finger pointed at us. Then it's no fun. I guess that's part of being human, no?

And hell no, this is politics. It's all a sham.  ;P

And yeah, sort of. I was working full time and going to school, then I got laid off. Now I'm working part-part time (6 hours a week) as an ESL tutor, for a married couple. Thankfully I'm in school right now and I've got money saved up, otherwise I'd be barely scraping by. (Same to you btw)

Your business? Really? Pray tell sir. How is he demanding money out of your pocket?

Average joes don't make challenges and chicken out? Bullshit. I can remember a few times you challenged LW, and then backed down when you realized she had a bigger set.

Whatever Doc, I don't care about your opinion. I know I've changed for the better. Am I perfect? Hell no. But I've certainly made leaps and bounds. Besides, my goal in life is not to appease you. I am who I am. Deal with it.

Yeah doc, you know all. You know that I changed my name just because I wanted knew perspective, knew intelligence, etc. etc. Yes, you're right. Here, let me fall down on my knees and repent.

>_>

Like I said earlier, I was lazy. I couldn't remember what my log in info was and figured, since I was just going to be checking in here evey now and then, it didn't matter. But, silly me. I forgot to check with you, oh might savior.

You're right, words are a dime a dozen, and actions mean more. Why not come check out my actions, eh? Instead of making assumptions based off of my mistakes in the past?

Good day.
