The big fat "HELP ME" thread

The big fat "HELP ME" thread

Allright, I think I'm beginning to grasp most of Elemental, but there is still some things I can't figure out, and I need to know whether it is because I am missing something, or because the game is bugged. Therefore, I am creating this thread to allow people to ask questions about ingame things.

I'm starting out with these issues:

- Summoning. When I try to cast "Summon familiar" nothing happens. I have the correct amount mana - am I doing something wrong?

- Enchanting. Same goes with giant strength. Again, nothing happens.

- Food. Okay, so my cities can't grow without enough food, and there are no natural food resources nearby - what are my options?

Any suggestions?

At some point i must click somewhere and my units become un-stacked. So i get these 2 groups of units on the same tile but i cant figure out how to make them a single group again?

I usually click on the icon on left-top corner that will select all units in the location.

Don't work for units in the city. :(

Also is there a way to make groups of units? a-la ctrl+1 in RTSs? If not is there a way to select all units in a city instead of shift-clicking them all?

Learning curve? More like learning mountain range.  Cripes.  Anywho, I'm only 70 moves (not minutes, but moves) and am frustrated.  Can your units ONLY move in a diagonal direction?  I have got to be missing something here because that would be horrible.  I have some tiles I can't get to because of it.  What am I missing here?

Research the exploration line in the adventure tree... Uncovers additional rare resources on the map. I think the second or third time you research it, it reveals beehives and orchards.

I haven't downloaded the non beta version yet, so maybe this is a beta bug but what tech/resources do you need to build a lumber mill. I had researched all the basic civilization tech, placed a city right next to an old growth forest, but never got the option to build a lumber mill, I'm assuming a lumber mill is different from the great mill (When you hover over an old growth forest it says to build a lumber mill to harvest) but could never build a lumber mill,......any thoughts?

click the old growth forest, and select build. Just like any other resource.

My big question is...what do you do with your starting leaders? Most have no fighting skills, so exploring would be a death sentence. Do you guy stack them all together? Give them weapons? Leave anyone in the first town for some reason? Is there anything to do with them besides initial exploration and/or banding together to fight the early mobs?

The Nature's Ally spell can clear most of the starting neutral monsters.

Screenshots should be under "My Documents/My Games/Elemental/Screenshots". That's where a lot of important data is kept and also integral to modding.

Summoning- Also note that you must click the same tile as the caster to actually summon a creature. You do not summon them in tiles next to your characters. I don't think you can cast any spells while garrisoned within the city (couldn't in beta).

Hitting number key '1' will reset the camera view.

EDIT: ok someone answered the healing thing... can you heal while moving though? also not sure about the unit question above.  Or does healing apply to them alsso?

After having researched Exceptional Equipment (or whatever that tech is called) in the warfare tree, you can equip units with a medic pack, which increases their hp by 5, and makes them regen 1 hp every turn.

Edit: You can also get access to different variants of healing spells (if you are lucky) in the magic tech tree.

left click somewhere on the map, then select the stack again.

Or, you can shift+click all the portraits in the stack.

When you have selected a specific hero or unit in a stack, an arrow pointing upwards on their portrait appears. This is also a button that, when clicked, will move the unit out of the stack.

moving by using the keyboard is broken at the moment. Use the mouse instead.

Both dont work because the stack is split. If i left click somewhere on the map, and click back on the stack, it will select one of the stacks, and if i click on that tile again, it will switch to the next stack. They never go back together. Theres a new tab that appears at the bottom called "stack" where i can see both stacks, but havent figured out a way to get em back together.

How do you upgrade units that are already built? For example: I have a soldier armed with an Axe and I research Maces. How do I upgrade my soldiers already built with Axes to Maces?

You cant upgrade units that are already built.

And adding to the list of questions:

If there are no shards around your starting location, does that mean there will never be any? Are there future techs that you learn that "unlock" and show you shards that have been around all the time? I'm trying to figure out how important one's starting location is.

Exploration under the Adventuring tree unlocks more resources and at some point new shards. They dont have to appear near you tho. Those unlocks happen worldwide, visible only to you.

Does anyone know if you can update your sovereign's stat card with the equipment he is currently carrying?

Otherwise the "holding sword" poses is pretty silly without at least starting with a club. And the bow positions would be no good as well.

Started a new game and I have 2 obstacles that I'm struggling with:

1. Food. My first game I played as the Paridin or whatever they're called, they had adventure techs that would reveal more resources on the map. My guy also had a spell that would enchant the city to produce +1 food per turn. Food was never a problem with those guys. Now I'm playing as the dark guys with wight population (sorry I forgot the name) and their techs are totally different. I've researched 6 or 7 levels into adventuring (or conquest as they call it) and still nothing that reveals more resources on the map. I also don't have spells that help with food either. What are these guys supposed to do for food?

2. Mana. My main hero has a mana pool of 28 currently, although I've never seen it full because I'm constantly defending my area and he only regenerates 1 mana per turn. If I have 4 mana going into a battle, then that's a lucky day with this guy. Is there a way to replenish it faster or am I really expected to wait 28 turns to fill it up?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Fair enough.  Thanks  But...umm... how does that work?  I am trying to move my unit with the mouse, but all it does is move the map.  I tried clicking and dragging, I tried left and right buttons, and nothing.  What in the hell am I missing here?

Well you cant build food resources in the campaign, and without food you cant build the Crystal Mine needed to progress the campaign. Help im stuck!

Where can I get food?

I'm in the campaign, started pre patch and now after patch I'm stuck. The queen of Cono gave me permission to go through the barricade to Gilden but when I get my guys to the barricade I can't right click on the ground beyond the barrier. I can't find any other place to go to get to Gilden. Is this bugged?

I'm having trouble with the quests that are appearing. My character is level 4 or 5, but every place seem to have a different view of what level I am. A level 3 quest says I am level 1 and a level 2 quest lists me as level 2. Bug or am I missing something?

I'm in campaign mode and I just defeated those demon dudes for Perciponne or whatever he name is.  I got the scroll from the random guy and now I have to kill the other demon dudes toward the south west.  So I think I need to cross that barricade but when I get there it says that I need Perciponnes permission to enter.  I thought I already got her permission by beating those first demon dudes.  So now I am stuck & don't know what to do.

The demon dudes you need to kill are to the southwest of Porcupine's city, south side of the bay. The barricade to the east comes later.

I heard that you have to be outside the city to cast, could that be your problem
