The big fat "HELP ME" thread

The big fat "HELP ME" thread

Allright, I think I'm beginning to grasp most of Elemental, but there is still some things I can't figure out, and I need to know whether it is because I am missing something, or because the game is bugged. Therefore, I am creating this thread to allow people to ask questions about ingame things.

I'm starting out with these issues:

- Summoning. When I try to cast "Summon familiar" nothing happens. I have the correct amount mana - am I doing something wrong?

- Enchanting. Same goes with giant strength. Again, nothing happens.

- Food. Okay, so my cities can't grow without enough food, and there are no natural food resources nearby - what are my options?

Any suggestions?

Having a bit of a problem right of the get go. I am only able to build a market and workshop once a settlement has been built. Farm does not show up on my build selection. So, no food. This is in both campaign and random.

I hope I'm doing something really stupid.

Thanks.

Resources aren't built from the city. If you click the resource tile (fertile land, gold, iron, lost library, arcane tower or whatever it's called, etc) you will have a button on the bottom UI bar to build the improvement on that tile, as long as the resource is within your zone of influence.

So, click that fertile land tile and then click on its build button to start construction on the farm. :)

Just got the game and trying to learn the controls, having trouble getting the mouse to do what it is supposed to.  I did figure out how to rotate, had to change my mouse settings make the scroll wheel button work the way the game needed it to, however I am unable to scroll (zoom) in or out and don't know how I have to change my mouse settings to get that to work.  Unable to get to the cloth map or zoom in or out at all.  Any suggestions?

On the food subject, exploration research now unlocks new sites in the world, including food. I got a fruit plantation right next to my main food city thanks to it, and went from barely scratching enough food to support four cities to having fifty food surplus (thanks to the civic research too).

So how do you raise your level that's needed for the exploration of the tiles with treasure chests, etc? I thought it was done by researching adventuring but it doesn't seem to be like it. Mine is stuck on 2 and won't budge.

I'm having a camera problem as well.  I'm unable to rotate the map.  I use the mouse wheel to zoom and that works fine, but nothing else allows me to pivot the camera view.  Am I going to have to change the settings of my mouse to get it to work?

Wondering about it myself *scratches head* Help us! :)

The gameplay distuingish between resource deliverers (mainly special tiles randomly placed around the world) and city improvements which provides multiplier to the gathered resources.

E.g. to gather food, you have to search a special tile called fertile land, oasis, etc. If that tile is within your area of influence and you have enough resources you click on that tile and click the second button (e.g. build farm). After a few turns the tile improvement is build. The same is true for metal, shards, DC, etc.

The city improvement provides - beside the most basic ones - only a multiplier to the resources in the area of the city. e.g. marketplace, etc.

click and hold the mouse wheel will enable you to rotate the view

Can someone please explain what 'Notable Adventure Level' is? I've looked everywhere in the game for help on this and can't find anything at all. It's driving me crazy.

This, I asked about the very same thing. How can you increase your 'Notable Adventure Level'?

It's the maximum level of sites you can investigate. If you hover over one on the map it'll give you the site level and your current adventure level. If the site is higher than your adventure level you won't be able to explore it. You can raise your level by researching the adventure tree; specifically the Quests line. Be aware that the higher the site level the stronger the defenders, but the better the rewards.

If the above doesn't work, chances are your mouse wheel press isn't set up to act as middle mouse button in your mouse config panel.

Only it didn't work like that, at least in my case. I had Adventuring at level 6 and my Notable Adventure Level was still 2.

Somehow I got the game into top down mode and now I can't get it out.  Anyone know how to do that?

Edit - You can quit the game to get out of top down mode but I'd like to know if there is any other way.

Top down? Is that the cloth map? I just use the scroll wheel on my mouse, I guess.

Hit the 1 key. Takes you back to isometric view. Not sure why it randomly goes to overhead but thats the only waY i have figured to get back.

Instead making it's own thread, this thread seems appropriate to my newb question.

Very simple, but how do I cancel a unit after I click that train button?

I've looked through the manual, and I see I can delete a unit once it's created, but obviously want to do it before then if it's possible.

Tried right clicking, or left click on the unit being trained and nothing happens, so is that even possible? or am I just missing something, lol.

thanks,

Adventure research level is not the same as notable adventure level. The notable level raises via specific technologies in the tree, not the research level itself.

All the adventuring levels (adventure, world and notable) are tied to specific techs. Not every adventure tech increases one of these levels. This is why it pays to actually read the tech window to see what something does before you decide to take it.

thanks,

When you have units training, select the city and to the left of the city portrait in the lower center of the screen should be a tab called "Training" or something ike that. All the units you have set to train are listed there, and you can click the X to cancel the unit.

I've imbued a number of champions with essence. I have this big super-stack of 5 or so channelers, including my main dude. All of them have access to teleport, but the only one that can successfully cast it is my main dude. Is this a bug or a feature? When my other guys cast it, I get the pre-teleport graphic on the tile I pick, but then the stack doesn't show up (and the caster isn't charged the mana).

I'm having the same problems with the "notable location level." This level isn't listed anywhere. My Adventuring Level is 8, and I have been reading the tech windows for something to tell me about this "notable location level".

You should have them available from the training screen of the town with the harbour. The little circle portrait is a map.

Yes, but I hope the clarification would head off the next "What is world level?" question :P

See above. Notable adventure is raised by specific technologies in the adventure tree. You need to read the tech description to find out if/which level it raises.
