Might try it after I get my laptop up and running again.  Ordered a fan, and I'm soon off to radioshack to get some thermal paste for the heatsink i was told to remove under false pretenses...Ah, well.  Now I know.

So far, repairs are only costing me $30, but I still need to find a cheap way to restore the OS.  Anyone know any?  (I'm perfectly fine with wiping the hardrive if anyone knows a way to get the OS back on without spending a couple hundred on a Vista disk...Preferably a leagal way...)

I know computer repair shops have specially liscenced copies to replace the OS the computer shipped with.  Anyone know where I can get something like that without spending ~$50 to have them put a disc in and press play?

Sigh. Doesn't have to be well made, just someone sitting in front of a camera.

Again, you are being ridiculus, it doesnt matter what you see in your screen, only thing that matters is the words, be it text, or a voice that simply makes sense by mentioning facts and truths.

I'ma stop talking about this before I mistake your posts for a insult to the way I learn.  I have to see somebody there, or I physically cannot pay attention to what they are saying.

None of my posts were meant to be insulting or offensive in any way.

Sure reads that way to me...W/E.  I suppose you're not that type.  I'm just so used to dealing with people who enjoy acting like an arse that I just assume things look the way I see them.

Lets just hope that they fix their servers, because frankly, its really often offline :(

The only sure way you can install a fresh OS to your drive, is the illegal old fashioned way.

Another way would be to use the repair proccess, provided by the Windows disc itself. But that requires the actual disc, like the fresh install of the OS do.

Your laptop didnt came with OS pre-installed in it? If it did, then they should have given you the disc, since you paid for the installed OS.

Sorry, but I dont know any other ways :|

Didn't get a disk.  The laptop shipped with Windows Vista.  I've never known anyone to get a disc like this, must be a Europe thing(Or I got jipped...(Ripped off if you don't know that one:thumbsup: )  I want Vista back, I love vista, as I never had an issue with it until I removed the hard drive and eventually put it back.

Computer shop said they can fix it, one way or another, so I assume 1 of 2 things:

The hard drive musta got a tiny shock somehow when I removed it, and they'll just reinstall(After they sopend $40 on the program, cuz they don't have one in stock for my laptop...) and another $50 to install it...

OR

They have absolutely no idea what they're doing(My current theory...Why would the model number for the fan be on the back of the heat sink???o_O ) and my hard drive may be kaput(Corrupted)

Based on the info you have given me, I cant help you a lot with your problem. What EXACTLY happened when you put your HD back in?

Your HD might be kaput in only 2 cases:

1. Somehow when you removed/put it back you touched it in key areas (where its exposed), with static electricity that exists naturally to your body,

and,

2. When you plugged them connector, you somehow damaged the input with forcing the cable (very unlikely)

The shop are kinda robbling you blind, since the program for your laptop costs 0 $ (they are drivers, you dont pay for it), and 40$ is A LOT for shipping fees from the company. Which you should be able to download yourself though.

About Vista, did you pay for your installed OS? If you dont remember check the receipt. If you did pay for it, then they were oblidged to give you the actual, disc, along with every driver disk for your laptop, of course.

What the hell? Are you saying you just got the laptop with no Install Disks? Thats absurd! You should investigate this, about what is the shop's policy (the ones they sold you the laptop)

In EU, I can even sue a company for this, if they did it (just saying).

Edit: I post a lot? really? Morpheas is a nerd!!!! Nerd I say!   /sarcasm

I bought it brand new, in the box, and no, no discs.  It came from the factory(Acer) with Vista.

No cable for the HD, it slides into place and is kept in place by the screws that keep the back "easy" access cover.

The shop has to order the disc from the factory for some reason...

what the Hell is wrong with GPG ????

- Dungeon Siege 1 - great

- Dungeon Siege 2 - great

- SupCom - great

- SupCom FA - great

but then....

- Space Siege -  disaster

- Demigod -  great gameplay, failed release, failed support

?????? Who's "DemiCom"????

@Storm- then somebody at Acer must have made a big mistake.

@Morph- yes, you do seem rather active on the forums lately. Perhaps I will have to summon my elite chapter of Space Marines, or perhaps my Craftworld of the Eldar? I'm certain a Vindicare Assassin of the Officio Assassinorum would be happy to eliminate you as well.

Storm, I see only 2 possibilities:

1. You were deceived badly from Acer (robbed you blind), or

2. The laptop you bought was like a "bare" version, that came cheaper, thus it didnt have anything else other than the laptop in a paper box. (VERY unlikely) (The discs cost almost nothing to the company)

Even if the company has a policy to NOT give any drivers in a disc, even then, they are obliged to give you the Vista OS in a disc which you paid for, and even if you didnt pay for the ACTUAL disc as a full purchase of Windows Vista, then they HAVE to give you an OS restore disc, which contains the OS but only for YOUR laptop (as in it would not work on any other laptop).

My opinion: LOOK IT UP! You most likely have been deceived, and you better make sure what you pay for next time, my friend (kinda patronizing, I know)

I think it was like that:

- Dungeon Siege 1 - great

- Dungeon Siege 2 - FAIL

- SupCom - great

- SupCom FA - great

The rest of it, I agree ;)

i own ds2 boss battles were good but everything else is repitive its not as fun as daiblo 2 even though boss battles can be to easy, knowing blizzard they should do a great job with D3,

touchlight was fun for a bit but was to short and repitive bosses were good but it doesn't have any meat left once you finish it.

GPG seems to like to fail now i look up the publisher of sup com 2 and they have threated to sue people for modding their published game thats just stupid as all hell because if a game can be modded it can give it a longer life and get more people or even make it worth it.

GPG are worse then loinhead i just hope fable 3 doesn't fall short in all areas.

I don't think they give discs in the US...Or at least, they aren't required to.  My sister and brother in law didn't get them either.  She has an Acer, his is a Gateway.

IDK.  Maybe it's something I'd have to order(Them being cheap and not sending the disc to people that might not need them, then they just send em to people who ask so they save a few pennys?)
