Show off your Sins model (pick a page)

Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.

At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.

We are looking forward to seeing what you have created! :)

Interested in importing your models into Sins?

Visit http://soase.weebly.com/modeling.html (thanks myfist0)
The soase.weebly is a compilation of many of the hard to find topics created by many experienced soase modders and extensively added to by myfist0. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.

SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)

It's my thread so a few of my stuff...

Some minor progress on the Vanarch. Still not sure where PD weapons are going to be located.

That looks similar to the concept art I was linked to base it on, yes.

Just wrapped up the updated Chimera, the Xin colony capital ship.

Wow, that's awesome. I like to in vision a xin capital ship unleashing a horde of fighters on their non-organic foes. Were you perhaps inspired or influenced by the Yuzhen Vong from Star Wars?

The base hull texture actually is inspired by YV - when I was first fleshing out the concept for the Xin remake, I wanted to make them look definitely organic, but believably so. The depiction of the Yuuzhan Vong ships as living creatures covered in thick coral-like carapace came to mind, I cooked up a nice looking texture and there you have it. :)

Still gritting my teeth waiting for Mansh00ter's mod.  Yummy.

I revised my "lectoid" model to better fit into Rebellion--too many goodies there not to go for it.  Here's the new model which will be roughly scout size:

If only I could figure out this texture technology.

The Patriarch was in dire need of both optimization and completion. Its revision is more significant than most of those so far. I'm still working on it, but here's a sneak peak.

Turrets are flak? Overall, NICE!!!!

Turrets are Fusion pulse cannons, and there's also exceptionally large powerguns on the sides, bottom, and front. Flak would be insufficient to harm Anahn fighters. The small turrets are to destroy battleships, while the large turrets are generally used for targeting slower things like battlestations.

Very nice, it wouldn't happen to be inspired by the Hiigaran Destroyer would it?

This was actually inspired by a AFF concept art a very long time ago and subsequently got mangled for a million things before ending up this way.

G-Bison > That ship would be around the size of the corvettes in the hangar for this ship. Most Warlord battleships this was intended to slaughter were around 300km, with the Patriarch extending close to 600. Its turrets move through massive gravitic rails and would be covered in tons of point defense weaponry.

Good gawd man, are there giants in these ships or you just think, not big but gargantuan.... :(O

Well, most Anahn ships are managed largely by nanites and nanite hives at this point, but the crew compliments are largely comprised of mass-produced clones as well.

The flagship has a complement of about 15,000. And mind you they are about 50 to 60 feet in height, so your ship is 600 km long, crew is about what, 3-5 million????

Yeah, they'd have a very large amount of crew, mostly for manual labor. It's one of the reasons why the Undead became so strong - the Anahn civil war gave Hell massive amounts of life energy with so many deaths.

Speaking of the Undead, I believe their ships are coming up in my revision process.

Wow, most impressive. Once again you just wow'ed me with your imagination....

I think I made a bunch of super long posts in the old Salvation thread about most of this stuff. Maybe one day I'll have something more meaningful to show.

Updates to that DyiithJhinn destroyer + an upper DyiithJhinn class.

/edit

I worked throughout the night to get the larger ship close to completion.

I like both versions of the larger vessel. Kinda feel like it should be the difference between a light and heavy cruiser.

There's a small version reserved for a frigate but it's not really enough to show, so yeah.

I'm so jelly right now. :(

A while ago I installed some free 3D modeling software and told my self I was going to learn through trial and error how to become an amateur modeler, but I never made a thing cause I had no idea how to even begin, lol!  XD

I could always google some tutorials or go to the websites, but I digress...

Anyways, Iskatu, your models are beast. Keep up the good work!

@Jollyranc

Try Sketchup to start from zero.  It won't teach you how to use more advanced programs but it will let you model and learn some things--plus it's free.  Sometimes it's enough to get you started.

I started with Rhino in 2000, which is nurbs. Then went to Maya, then 3ds max by 2007.

I had Rhino and Wings and Blender but found Milkshape was the first modeling program that clicked for me.  It is especially useful for file conversions though it is a paid program and has some limitations.  Great for basic modeling.
