Show off your Sins model (pick a page)

Think of this thread as something similar to conceptships.blogspot.com for the Sins community. Basically, a way for the community to share what they have created whether it makes it into a mod or not.

At a minimum post a screen shot of your model in blender, xsi, 3d object converter, etc or in game. If you have a name for your ship or story behind it, even better.

We are looking forward to seeing what you have created! :)

From the beginning of this thread IskatuMesk has wow'd us with his models and ultimately released a video of his creations in Sins of a Solar Empire. This particular model was my favorite in the beginning and still stands out.

SivCorp looking to stretch new ideas from existing models managed to create several menancing models including the fantastic Vasari version seen here: (Vasari Flagship Sonar Kal'd used in the Distant Stars Mod)

With Rebellion-Steam, it's great if we can keep the models up so the new players get interested, I think.

The "Cargo Cult" is meant to be funny.  I had to make it a player race to be able to use it for some things in maps and the like as I wanted.

It drops the cargo boxes--which spawn as a variety of turrets.  The turrets (boxes) have the abilities on them.  Some will produce lots of leveling experience and others hull, armor, shield or antimatter buffs.

The model is basically a Freelancer made one--but turned upside down and reshaped with things added and taken away.

What do the boxes look like? I've been wanting to put goodie boxes in the Enhanced 4X mod as yet another kind of random encounter, that will give resources for finding like in Rise of Nations, plus maybe some of the stuff you've been doing if you don't mind.

I'm working on boxes with Chinese dragons and Buddhas on top but I can any kind of make boxes for you.  Just let me know what you want.  I started with all super-low poly and have moved up so I can make quite a few different kinds.

I have robot shaped, coffin, hexagonal, square, cylindrical tanks, etc.--with or without details.

Yeah I don't need anything too complicated, just something that says "generic box in space" is more than enough. Low poly is more than fine, makes texturing a lot easier.

I am going to be releasing E4X 1.2 tomorrow though, so if you have something that will already work great, if not I'll get it in later.

Here's an untextured "motile spore" which serves as a Yggdrasil strikecraft and mine model in my mod, Threshold.  The tail of the model rotates when it's moving.

For the record, mines and strikecraft work a bit differently than normal in Threshold.

Ow--here's a reply I missed.  Sorry about that.

No--the tail will be the particle effect and what rotates.

I made a variant of the mothership with a forward facing drill but try as I might, I can't like it as much as my original design. Since it will probably never be used, here's a rough view of it.

In-game, it would have actually embedded the rotating drill into the planet mesh--up to where the leg tips end.  A cloud of smoke and derbis would have shout out from the impact point.  Would have been fun.

To clarify--I'm sticking with the original eyeball model.  This was just one that could actually impale a planet.  I like the eyeball one better.
