Stress, why don't you have someone contact this guy and see if he's happy with emailing you some higher res pictures for the mod? He seems to be into FanFiction and stuff so hopefully he's approachable. I for one would love the Sam Niel picture.

Will you be adding more player pictures in this version? Perhaps Janeway, Picard and Kirk for the Feds?

Not at this point , we are having some issues with character selection. In sins you only have 3 races to choose, with SOA2 you can chose from 5 races to play as. With that being said we are trying to make it where you can view the pics of all of the races in the character selection window.  Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated thanks jtaylorpcs

As far as the player pictures i wanted to stay clear of the "famous" captains, because they really have no part in this war. Picard, and Janeway "should" be admirals, or are retired by now, and Sisko is "one with the prophets". Kirk is STILL dead (if anyone rembers the classic SNL pun). I have a pic of sisko in the mod, but that is because i couldnt find a decent "unknown" actor picture. I prefer to stay with unknowns because in 2388 chances are the old players arent around anymore.

Its nice to see fresh artist work in the mod

So, perhaps if I could find some pictures of other Captains, Officers, etc, then it's possible you'll use them instead?

Also, what about Data? In theory, he'd still be around (or B4, or whatever he is now)?

Edit: I don't know how seriously you're considering redoing the pictures, but I know that it doesn't take a great amount of time, but here are my suggestions for the images (some of them are known characters, but are possible as Captains, like Riker, Tuvok, Data, etc).

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Robert_DeSoto - Captain Robert DeSoto

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/William_T._Riker - Captain William Riker (first image)

http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Erika_Benteen - Captain Erika Benteen

Yeah, doubt you'll actually use them, but I have time on my hands ;)

Erika...hehehe... Also Dr Leah Brahams (if I got that right)... she was one heck of a cute captain!!!  I'll take her!!!

Data died in nemesis if anyone actually remembers. He sacrificed himself so picard could live.

Edit: Although he did transfer the capacity for growth to B-4.

He also transfered all of his memories if I remember correctly.  Which explains why B-4 was humming Blue Skies in the final scene.

Yeah, according to the canon that was established Data's memories and programming superceded B-4, and he's basically back to life

I suppose that was a way of dealing with making Nemesis feeling like a true closer of a series and having dramatic impact, making damn sure everyone knew Spiner wasn't reprising his role.  But they can basically still develop the character in non film/tv media

That's gonna be badass

I'm gonna go ahead and hope that the next version comes out before the 26th.  Cause once I've got Mass Effect 2, I won't be doing much else for some time

I remember the first vanilla version that was released, when the early prototype borg cube hidden in the Pirate base..

I was playing a small solo game against the AI at the time and the skybox was set to that eerie darker red one, and my scout jumped into a pirate base... and there was a cube looking back at it... OMG!!!

Now I have a fairly nice flatscreen TV that also accepts a moniter jack, plus some decient speakers... not the best, but definitly enough to compliment a good game like this nicely...

And let me tell you... I saw that monster Cube dwarfing my little scout, all black and green against that dark red backdrop... It looked so real I got chills.... literally got goosebumps...  And then my scout got wasted.

Needless to say I'm drooling now... I can't wait to see a Unicomplex with some cubes around it... preferably with the exact same background!!!!!!  :borg:

I think it'll be even better seeing your friend's ships jumping into your gravity well and seeing them see a unicomplex with some cubes around it, well at least the look of horror on their face.

Mwahahahaha!

Yeah, something like that.

In any case, I can't wait. Part of me wants it out ASAP, another part of me recognises that if its out ASAP, then I fail my A levels next week, you win some you lose some I suppose.

Granted, I'm only helping out with Beta Testing and some ability coding right now, but I can assure you that JTaylorPCS and the rest of the Mod Team are hard at work, and you'll be glad they're not pushing it out early when you play it.

They're working on all the small bugs that would together be infuriating if they weren't fixed, things like:

1. Making sure the tech trees actually let you upgrade all your race's weapons (vice accidentally leaving some ships' weapons non-upgradable),

2. Revising some grav well problems that had ships getting tied up and not jumping (endlessly infuriating when it happens),

3. Fixing freak input problems (wait, why does the Dom Enslaver do 2000 DPS?  Isn't that more than a borg cube???) to make the game play well.

I think Eomega is still hard at work on the last few models judging by his posts, so there are a few things left to go in, but it's getting close.

Also, those of you who play solo like just_jim will be excited to hear that the AI in the new build plays outstandingly well (I may have mentioned that already), so single player is actually a lot of fun.  If you plop down for your first game and set the AI enemies to "unfair," don't expect to win unless your name is STARTREKKER.

I seriously am very excited by this. Everything sounds nothing short of amazing. Great job to you all for sticking with it and trying to make something fun and worth playing again and again. Lol. I literally check the boards every single day just for even a hint of gossip on it. lol. Sigh.. I'm a geek.

You aren't alone Qaeylen

I've had a bit of an issue when playing as the dominion, or against them... their colony cap (keldon) isnt as strong as the other races equivelant ship, making it harder to expand.  This makes it so you're pretty much guarenteed to die later on.

Playing the OS version right?  That's just something to hold us over if we must have Trek in Sins before the new version comes out, I believe released as is.  Doubt they're going to be making any changes to it

As a solo player, I'm very excited to see how the new AI handles!

correct  SOA2 OS is for vanilla sins and is no longer supported.   Just to let everyone know we are still on for a release in the short term. Hopefully before the end of the month. This release will not be complete nor perfect , but is playable and functioning. Well back to work on SOA2

So, not this weekend then. Well, there's a whole 'nother week in January, and I've moved you guys onto Valve time so I don't really expect anything for about half-a-month anyway. I mean, it's not like you're getting paid for all this work- so really, we should all just sit around and think about how thankful we are that people with these modding skills are putting in their spare time towards a project that will send ripples of awesome throughout the internet the moment it gets uploaded.
