Anyone playing STO

I'm holding out till The Old Republic but I dunno OCT release date might make me try out STO

So where do I get SOA?

I heard that The Old Republic was being released Spring 2011!!!

STO is really enjoyable especially space battles against klingons,

but ground combat is rubbish and laggy

just got myself an Excalibar class cruiser

Umm.... Main topic. Right above your post. Where it says SoA 2 downloads. Right now we only have a version availible for Original Sins. So you want "SoA 2 for Original Sins" until we get 0.4E released. Which we are finalizing as i type. Least thats what jay posted

Yes we are in the process of finalizing our current build, and will be releasing soon. We are currently waiting on the borg import to be finished before We will release.  We are still targeting a release this month. thanks josh,

Oy, that's a terrible deal.  Note that plenty of disastarous MMORPGs have folded after less than 24 months, so if STO is of the same quality as recent Star Trek games, you may not get your money's worth.

I hate to rain on anybody's parade, but don't hold your breath for STO to be a good game.  Far too many mediocre games have come out over the years bearing the name "Star Trek" for me to have any faith in it.  Plus, the terrible website design makes me wonder whether anyone on the production team has any experience (note that they've revamped it twice in the last few months due to it being so lame).

Very exited! Looking forward to getting my friends to grab the newest release for our weekly multiplayer night.

Hellgate London is a great example of an MMO that had a lifetime subscription model that a number of people paid.  There are no online servers anymore for the game.  Dunno bout STO will probably just hold out for The Old Republic.  It already looks more polished.

Nah, I'm the other way around. ST:O looks like it's gonna be brilliant, but TOR just looks kinda lame - it's like a newer version of Galaxies. I'll pass on TOR, but I might just get the Lifetime Subscription for ST:O.

Will the frigates and cruisers in this mod have abilities, and if so, are they research dependant?

yes most frigates and cruisers alreay have abilities or will have them. Some will be researchable some will be avaliable by default

As far as the player pictures i wanted to stay clear of the "famous" captains, because they really have no part in this war. Picard, and Janeway "should" be admirals, or are retired by now, and Sisko is "one with the prophets". Kirk is STILL dead (if anyone rembers the classic SNL pun). I have a pic of sisko in the mod, but that is because i couldnt find a decent "unknown" actor picture. I prefer to stay with unknowns because in 2388 chances are the old players arent around anymore.

I think you should go with Kirk, dead or not he's a badass.  Especially if he sings.  Lethal, that.

Very much looking forward to the next release.  All involved are doing an awesome job!  It is much appreciated by all of us who play this game regularly.  I wish I had the skills to assist in the creation and enhancement of this awesome mod, but I don't.  But, I will enjoy all the hard work that the team has put into this.

While SOA2 for Original Sins is great, I can't wait to get back into Entrenchment.  It does add alot more gameplay.  I continue to check back daily for the upcoming release!

For those of you bad at math $239.00 is a great deal even IF it folded in 2 years it's $15 a month... So that's less then 2 years.

The game is already hit ... Head start hasn't even opened yet and they have sold in access of 100,000 accounts... !!!! They already ordered new server hardware and will be installing it this week. The game is crazy fun. They are still adding a lot.. but it has a lot of the right things.. and Characters I have run into... Tom and Belona's Daughter is the Cheif of Security on the USS. Kirk lol... and you do some missions with her... The wildman girl commands a neutral zone space station .  And there is tons and tons of stuff... Data ends up taking over the Enterprise E in 2388 *Remember B4 and the memory download* .... So yeah..  If anyone wants tips or advice in the game I am part of Jupiter Fleet and can be reached at

Now it's not all flowers and candy.. some none Trekker gamers are playing.. and they have a bad attitude and aren't much fun.. but the majority of people are Trekkies... but yeah still fun ..
