Attn. Neil Banfield: Issues with Skinstudio 7

1.

the text margins on the Windows 7 taskbar buttons. The right and left margins don't seem to have any effect at all. Look at how the icon and text overlap the details on each end of the button

Here's the same skin on Vista

2.

Win7 show desktop button: In order for the show desktop button to blend into the taskbar, one has to add the line: BackgroundEffect=1 to the code section. There should probably be something in the extra tab to check off instead of adding the code manually

3.

The IE tab close button does not work. The button stays default unless you skin the tooltip button. Then it will use that image

:omg: Of course this is the IE 7 tabs and close button, because the damn tabs aren't even skinned on IE8!

IE favorites menu remains unskinned.....it's still using the classic colors >:(

I'm at a stand still skinning wise. I cannot finish my skins untill these issues get resolved

FocusFont and FocusColour have to be manually added into the codex in the pop up menu section. can we please have this fixed also?

Also in that same popup menu section, the 'font =' HAS to be removed from the background codex for the menu font to actually work, otherwise the focus font in the menu does not work at all, it stays as default.

I would like to see the check box for frames stacked vertically added back in, so we dont have to add 'vert=1' to everything that is stacked vertically.

also on the navigationarrowbackgroundIE the mouse over is out one pixel to the left. when you skin it, you have to remember to shift it one pixel back to the right for it to work correctly.

As it happens you can already move them right by using the left content margin on the StartPanel.ShutdownArrow section.

Say what? Is there a section called that?

Yes.  It is Normal arrow under Windows 7 Start Menu buttons on the Edit Start Menu Logoff images window.

With todays beta of WB + SKS you can also modify this and the vertical alignment (top content margin) via the extra settings tab on this section.

Are you sure you mean the checkbox for vertically stacked frames?

Thats still in the software.

Assuming you mean the per pixel checkbox, there was a bug in the last version and this was not always reset when switching from a bmp to a tga.  This should be resolved in the latest beta (from today)

Also FocusFont and FocusColour can already be set for the menu item.  Just set the colour / font on the text tab for the mouseover state.

I just figured it out.

Move the left text margin in the Windows 7 Start Menu Buttons........Normal arrow. That will pull the buttons to the right

Edit: Forum lag, Neil.....I see you answered my question

Awesome!

Have you added a checkbox for blend mode on the show desktop button so that I don't have to add the line BackgroundEffect=1 to the code?

Ok I downloaded the updates and I like the extra tab. But something else seems to be broken now. If you use a larger font for the text on the buttons, it doesn't show the entire word any more. Compare the shots below.

One the left, before the update. On the right, after.

Please don't tell me I'm restricted to OS default on this section now :(

You need to correct your margins on that button.  You have probably set something previously for testing and WB ignored margins on that but now uses them.

Margins when I took that screeny were set to all 0

Moving the right margin does nothing (both positive and negative values)

Moving the left margin in has no effect. A negative value chops of the text on the left side.

Is that a skin I can download to try?

Not yet, no. It's a WIP of mine. I'd be happy to send it to you if you PM me your email addy

with the new update of sk7 i have the vertical checkbox. thanks for that, but im still finding i have to manually add 'perpixel=1' in just about all of the png parts.

group box header text still has to be edited in the codex to show the correct font.

im not sure why, but now groupbox border is acting like this with all skins in photoshop:

That dialog uses a combo of group boxes with the classic color button shadow parts. I have come to ignore PS in regards to judging how my skins look. Photoshop CS3 skins like ass in any OS that's just the way it is :P

yeah but it never used to look like that though.....not since the update anyway...:'(

Group boxes have been doing that as long as I can remember, Photo shop has never skinned right in many areas.

As far as having to add Per Pixel 1 for Pngs, you might try saving your images as TGA's and not having SKS convert them to png to begin with.

The vertical checkbox never went anywhere.

As for your need to add perpixel = 1.  You should not need to do this if you have ticked that it uses transparency.  In testing this correctly updates when you change the image from BMP to tga etc.

If it is not working for you then I need to know exactly what you are doing to make it incorrectly change.

Reduced 94%Original 635 x 468

Go to "Edit buttons controls > Groupboxes > Header >> Extra settings tab >  Enable msstyle mode" turn that on.

okay, not sure why, but I never had the vertical checkbox when i first installed sk7, but no matter I have it again and thats the main thing.

When I import my images to sk, they are png format, , only sometimes I have to manually add perpixel=1. this dosent happen for everything that is png, only some bits, but enough to find it annoying. I always check the use transparency when I use a png image.

danillo, i tried what you said and yes that does work...but it changes the font back to default blue.......blah! ignore that comment,

I manually changed the font in the codex to the colour i wanted and that worked .

cool!...does that work anywhere else?

a tip for all...its great to push the logoff buttons around in win7 but be warned...I've already had a non-english user show me how it pushed the arrow off the start menu because the dang text takes up more room on the shutdown button than the english version.

This is the same problem we always had with the allprogs arrow trick...apparently that why MS aligned it so far left. X|

I would have to add 12 substyles to ecoLogical just to accomodate changing this one thing for the non english...or push them back on 2 styles to fix for everybody.

Guess which one is going to happen? <_<

It seems as though the cs5 programs don't want to play well with WindowBlinds. I get this type of result from every skin I've tried thus far.
