Attn. Neil Banfield: Issues with Skinstudio 7

1.

the text margins on the Windows 7 taskbar buttons. The right and left margins don't seem to have any effect at all. Look at how the icon and text overlap the details on each end of the button

Here's the same skin on Vista

2.

Win7 show desktop button: In order for the show desktop button to blend into the taskbar, one has to add the line: BackgroundEffect=1 to the code section. There should probably be something in the extra tab to check off instead of adding the code manually

3.

The IE tab close button does not work. The button stays default unless you skin the tooltip button. Then it will use that image

:omg: Of course this is the IE 7 tabs and close button, because the damn tabs aren't even skinned on IE8!

IE favorites menu remains unskinned.....it's still using the classic colors >:(

I'm at a stand still skinning wise. I cannot finish my skins untill these issues get resolved

Bump for Neil ;)

The margins on the taskbar are intentionally hardcoded on Windows 7 as they are used for pinned items as well.

However I will add a setting you can add to the skin to enable them but be warned you will have to check that they work well for all modes of the taskbar.

Hey Neil, any chance we can get a pressed state for taskbar buttons in Windows7? I'm not quite at a stand-still concerning this, but in my case (on the skin I'm currently working on) the "highlighted & activated" state doesn't do the skin justice when used for the pressed mode.

Oh please? Oh please?

I guess this is related... since we're talking about skinning WindowBlinds! :w00t:

I'm having issues on 2 separate Win7 Ultimate 64-bit machines with Explorer background transparency. It works, but sometimes gets borked. The funny thing is that, I can have 2 windows open at the same time, one is messed up and one is fine. See the screeny below.

None of the issues listed in the OP have been fixed...........

Here's a feature request:

For the following examples, I have used screenshots of the Corporate skin.

Currently, the Windows 7 default taskbar/start button looks like this:

When you use small icons, thereby putting the taskbar back to the smaller (xp/Vista) size, the taskbar/start button looks like this:

And finally, the taskbar/Start button on XP/Vista looks like this:

My point? Glad you asked!

The taskbar with its larger start button area and taskbar buttons works great in W7 when the default large size is active. However, when someone decides to use the taskbar at the smaller size; the small taskbar in W7 behaves differently than the same size taskbar in xp or Vista. I have found it impossible to judge the appearance of the taskbar in the small state on W7; at least as far as knowing that it will look exactly the same on all versions of Windows.

It would just greatly help if the taskbar at the small size would look the same whether it was on XP, Vista or 7.

Also, the smaller taskbar in W7 will still display the larger start button, as opposed to the start button for xp/Vista. It seems to me that the small start button ought to be applied to the small taskbar in W7.

Truthfully, this is why my last 3 skins had the type of start button that they did: because the small start button on my skins works with either the large or the small taskbar in 7.

What made me think of this is that my next skin will have a larger start button--but I'll be forced to create a substyle for W7 for small taskbar users, and that will be the ONLY difference; the taskbar and start button size!

Could there be some options put into SKS to make WB point to a smaller start button when on a smaller taskbar?

:)

You don't need to worry about bumping this one.  SKS is due a 7.01 update soon and I will be looking at this thread, though some of the issues may be nothing to do with SKS itself.  SKS only writes info to files for WB to use, it doesn't add new WB features (though it can sometimes expose features that WB has that have not been in SKS before)

Thanks, Neil!

Sorry for being a pain in the arse. Just want to finish my skin and the taskbar text margins has me on stand by O:)

Can IE8 tabs be skinned? Or is it simply not supported yet?

no one seems to care......I give up

IE8 tabs cannot be skinned currently.

Due to how IE8 recolours tabs for different types of site they changed from being a bitmap.
