[suggusti- no scratch that... [Mandate]

people complaining about lack of multiplayer differences?

So.

how many times has an ally lagged out...  or was forced to leave/ go afk because of real life?

(stupid real life... i mean... we have to eat... and drink... and sleep... and eat again... endless.)

How awesome would it be... to have some sort of pact or treaty that allows one person to take control of parts or all of the other persons empire?

Say... a fire drill goes off in your room (real life story btw) and you can no longer play... bummer right? not only did you prolly end up losing the game for the team, your team also lostthe game due to no fault of thier own...

what if you could give control of your military and/or economy over to another player?

when someone laggs out... its like "dam"... what if when that happens the remaining team mates get together and have 30 seconds to deside "ok, who wants to have to manage two empires?"... what if you have like a guy who got rushed and is dead... and this stupid worthless ai in the econ position... you could let one of your team mates get a second life.

in other words... It would be awsome for the multiplayer community (imho) if you could willfully give up control of your empire to another player, or if you unwillfully leave your team mates can willfully switch control of the ai to AI control, or to a human player (for, if nothing else, stoping the ai from building siege frigs.... rofl)

Now... you should make it so that the resources and economies stay seperate so you cant abuse it (any other possible abusive such you can see possible?) ... idk... what do you all think? dont you think?

So, in other words:  "Shared Control"

All for it.  +1 Karma just for suggesting it in fact.

yes. I think we need it.

i actually think that this game would be prety good for some sort of "shared control" scheme.  it could lead to interesting multiplayer senarios

Another thing I thought of...

If this existed (and done right)... 2 players could take control of one empire from the start of the game...

I mean... talk about a "this is how you play sins" teaching tool! a vet could literally help a newb do well (and prolly have a bit more fun than getting quickly killed off)

so its just a question of how well can this be implemented and will anyone want to use it

Yes... it would be.... a... suggestion... i think...

Shared control was the standard mechanism for resolving leaving players in Warcraft III, and it worked very well.

Remember though, that 2x the resources in one player's hands is more powerful than 2 players each player having half. I like the idea of this, but it should be fair.

Yeah, I think games should at least have the ability to replace the replacement AI with another player. It could also prove a useful mechinism for balancing teams.

each can have separate resource pools....like in wc3

This could work in single player games also. Instead of "issuing" commands or give missions, you could for a short time control the other fleet.

i've never play that so i wouldnt know.

as for berics comment, yes but they also have to do twice the work, calculate twice teh moves, manage twice teh stuff (see were im going with this?) its all great in theory but much finer detail would be needed to ensure balance/fairness remains

the way i immagine it is that you get a little box... kinda like the one in the replay... where you can switch between the different empires.

Would be great. Not do mention being in the feed spot would have the potential to be interesting!

thats a good point... if someone drops out, its your job to step up.

should I put this in that list of consolidated suggustions?

Or should this be left seperate due to how important it is?

This is a must have option imo.

Also it might be possible to use this in diplomacy, for example ther could be an option for giving another player control over certain ships for a given period of time. this way you could finally coordinte attacks with AI players. What i mean is a mission like "put 20 assilants and 5 carriers here and give me control of them for 5 minutes". No trading of ship specs or tech, you just hire the ships for a certain time. Might be a bit difficult to implement but i think its still easier than to get AI to be good enough to be a serious help to human players.

hmm you could hire pirate ships aswell...

shared control when someone drops is a must

any devs care to comment?

Heh, sorry gang, but this is definitely not going to happen for Diplomacy.

You people realize that a Sins 2 is more than likely a 2012 release.

In Homeworld 2 you could transfer ships to your teamates that had lost their own fleet to keep them in the game.  As long as one owned a captial ship (Carrier, Mothership, or Battlecruiser) you were stil in the game.  Actually, not only to keep players in the game, but a popular strategy at the begining of games was to transfer your Mothership or Carrier to your teamate in the "slot" or rear position so that they would tech up for faster deployment of detroyers, etc.  Another popular strat was for the guy in the "slot" to build multiple Shipyards and transfer them one at a time to each of his teamates in order to produce Battlecruisers.

I have always thought ship/fleet transfers would be a dynamic improvement to SoSE.
